You mean the same Trojans that handed that fraud of a team in Norman the worst BCS Championship Butt Kicking ever? 55-19? The game that broke Bob Stoops and made him the coach he is today compared to the coach he was before OU got it handed to him? That same team that has an alltime record of 6-2-1 against your Okies? That Trojan team? The team that OU is afraid to schedule again? I see that OU scheduled UCLA for 2018 and 19, but no USC. Stoops is not fool. He stuck his hand in the fire once and got burned big time. Why do it again?

I say that Riley (who NEVER won a game against USC in Los Angeles) is going to need a lot of speeches like that next season. What is funny is that Riley would have had to play in the Big House against Michigan next season had he stayed at Oregon State. Now he can duck them at Nebraska.

Now don't get all jealous because you Okies do not have any money. Hell, you live in Oklahoma. The only thing Oklahoma has going for them is a bunch of Earthquakes. 6 alone today. Who is making all of that oil money Go? Thank them for the lower gas prices. My vehicles do not use cheap gas.

Mike Riley is a good coach. People are lunatics. Oregon st has done nothing without him as the coach. I know the have struggled recently but it is what it is. He will be a success at Nebraska

Riley is a solid coach. OSU has to compete with the likes of usc, ucla, oregon, stanford and washington. Osu as a program has never won anything before riley that I can remember. He recruited and developed nfl caliber talent from the socal hotbed. I think it's a wise move by nebraska. He might be able to recruit a "real"QB to Nebraska. I don't know that Nebraska has ever had a real qb other than running QBs. Players will be willing to go there having the confidence that they will be developed. That goes for wide receivers too.

Smart move by Nebraska.

you mean that 29-33 record L5 years? hmm...14-22 vs teams over .500? sounds like a guy that "will be a success at Nebraska" to me

Btw was Pellini's departure all wins/losses/not getting over hump? Or personality issues too?

Short answer: no championships, embarrasing losses, sideline behaviour, creating a divide between fanbase and team...though in his defense the chancelor wanted him out long ago and probably was as equally guilty in creating an unhealthy environment. Unfortunately, Pelini isnt mature enough to buffer some of that from his team. His teams were up and down l, undisciplined like him. They did has some nice comebacks though, showed fight.

Well said.
Paul Rhoads
never wins more than 5 or 6 games at Iowa State, but I would take him in a minute over 50% of the name coaches iwe

n the country. Why is it always about wins and losses with you? It's not the X's and O's, it's the Jimmy's and Joe. Riley was never going to get the blue chip recruits at OSU. They never had the tradition of the other schools in their conference.

Were there even odds on this hire? My goodness, even putting down a hundred bucks probably would have made a nice payout.

Anyway, Riley has been recruiting in Texas and Cali for years. I'm guessing the administration thought he can continue to do this with some success. They'll need it as Nebraska has zero 5 star recruits and only 1 4 star (rivals.com) on the roster when you look at the 4 year class.

I believe I found this in SN regarding the Neb new hire.
He's asking them to have an open mind about Riley's pro-style offense, which seems to be the go-between of Osborne's I-form option attack and the zone read stuff Pelini ran the past seven seasons. Nebraska was 15th in the nation in scoring offense in averaging 37.4 points. Oregon State, even with prolific quarterback Sean Mannion, averaged 25.7 points per game.
Eichorst is asking Cornhuskers fans not to draw the parallel to Bill Callahan, who in 2003 replaced Frank Solich after a 9-3 season.
Riley went 14-34 over three seasons with the NFL's San Diego Chargers. Callahan also had NFL roots and sought to revamp Nebraska's offense. It resulted in 27-22 record after four seasons.
Eichorst is asking Big Red fans not to ask the question: "Did we really just make the same mistake twice?"
He's asking for patience from a program itching for its first Big Ten championship and desperate to relive its 1994-97 glory run, during which Nebraska won three national championships and went 49-2.
Pelini was 9-16 against ranked teams since 2008. Riley is 8-23 in the same stretch. That's not better.
Eichorst is asking all that in the shadow of Pelini, who is bound to catch on somewhere and will be forever linked to Riley no matter what the future holds.

I count 16 4-stars on the roster.... not counting the seniors on the way out or the 2015 class...using your same website.
