That is an interesting question .
I would say the Cleveland team that won had the worst 3rd best player in the last 25 years or so .

Celts have gotten big games from everyone because there are so many soft spots on the Bucks D to attack and exploit, not quite to the level of the Nets but Allen/Portis/G Hill's corpse, it is a lot. There is a comfort level offensively when you're able to target mismatches all game. Giannis/Holiday (and even Lopez at times) cover up a lot of that but only so much they can cover up.

is it odd that Milwaukee seems to be daring Boston to shoot so many 3's? Wouldn't you think they'd want the Celtics to go towards the bucket, where the strength of Bucks' D is? I feel like Milwaukee's guards should be aggressive and risk get taken off the dribble as Boston really struggling to finish this series

Boston had some poor shooting nights but seems like Bucks were asking to get burned from deep. So many 3's early because they were so open

Yeah. KLove pretty useless that entire run

Pretty unreal 1-2 punch tho, especially in the finals

if the bucks win can you make the case they would have the worst 3rd best player on a team to win a title ?

Would be up there....the '94 Rockets or the '99 or '03 Spurs would be the other 2 teams...Obviously the Lakers 3rd being D Fish/G Rice is up there but they had Kobe/Shaq, that was that diluted post expansion era though....Different eras, nowadays you don't really win with your #3 being some roleplayer who is about the 120th best player in the league anymore. Teams little deeper now, more players have to do more.

But doubt they win w/o him anyway

And not sure why people are saying he'll be back next rd....Grade 2 MCL strain is a bad injury, who knows

The Celts have destroyed Allen/Portis in this series, why do you think Portis got his minutes cut so massively, Allen has been the worst player in the series

The quality of looks goes way down you take a bad defender off the court and add a very good 1 when you're working with Giannis/Jrue core to begin with.

Just because you want to make a team take above the break 3's, they aren't going to be as open with another good defender. You can switch way easier as well.

Agreed. That is also why Portis wasn't even in the rotation last year in the Brooklyn series. Why I was shocked in the off season Bucks choose Portis over PJ(though they didn't have to choose and could have just kept both). I suppose though Portis at this point had his own t-shirts and PJ didnt----though PJ was another fan favorite.

Portis did impress me with another level in his offensive game during the regular season. But that new found shot has abandoned him in the play-offs.

Grayson on other hand. Lol.

Remember chicago this is why your team sucks and you need to leave behind derozen(age, no defense) Lavine(no defense and never will play defense) Vue( decent center that doesn't play D and will be unplayable in meaningful play off series)

They made Grayson look like a borderline all-star

I remember when Bulls trade for Nikola Vucevic---haven't seen Chicago sports fans that happy and wrong over a trade since Jay Cutler.

Kevin Love is definitely not the worst 3rd player on a championship team in the last 25 years.

He was a hell of a player. He just got even deeper marginalized then even Chris Bosh.(also hell of a player)

There is a reason(besides Lebron) that Cleveland traded the #1 overall pick in what was suppose to be a star studded highly touted draft class.(turned out to be pretty terrible outside of Joel)

The Cavswouldn’t have traded the #1 pick for Kevin Love if LeBron wasn’t coming back to Cleveland

Absolutely zero chance.

100% a GM LeBron move

Well no duh.

They traded for Love to make a championship roster. If Cleveland didn't have Lebron he wouldn't have agreed to play there anyways.

Your arguments are so fun. "Why do the Bucks let Boston shoot 3s?" LOL. Like you have never watched a Bucks game.

I don't even understand you Cav's fans love for Lebron. He left your city twice. It's funny you guys are mad the first time, then 2nd time the sports media tells you not to be mad because he got you a championship so you aren't mad. Good sheep. :)

Seriously?

Because he was an exceptional player that was averaging something like 26/15 that season. He was available because he was forcing his way out of Minny and Cleveland jumped on it.

Lots of people thought the big 3 of lebron/irving/love was better then lebron/wade/bosh because the former was young and all still in their primes.

They were gonna do whatever LeBron wanted. That's why no Dion Waiters either

Love wasn't as sought after around the NBA as people seem to think he was. Lot of question marks despite godly stats

He certainly was replaceable for large amounts of LeBron's second stint. He was closer to their 4th best player than their 2nd best player in the three years with LeBron/Kyrie time frame, that's for damn sure

It worked out even worse for Love then it did for Bosh.

Both got turned into spot up jump shooters. Bosh thrived better because he was much better defensively than Love.

The discussion is pretty moot, love had 1 yr left on his deal. He wouldn’t have played in Cleveland if they didn’t have lebron.

But if he was willing to sign extension then yeah I think clearly they would’ve done the deal, he had a rep as a top 10-15 player then and him/Irving would’ve made cavs relevant in the east (atleast on paper at time that would’ve been thinking)

Could still argue the Cleveland Big 3 was better mainly because of Kyrie's brilliance for a couple years. LeBron also more well-rounded offensively after he left Miami (though Miami's Big 3 defensively was pretty sick)

Wade was great the first year but definitely falling off by year 2.

Love and Bosh both marginalized / were pretty similar. Love was probably more reliable on offense/rebounding, Bosh the better defender
