After putting my interaction with Jim into words in this thread, it got me to thinking. Why would I take advantage of Jim moreso than I would with your random poker player that is just walking the halls of the Rio in respect to the Lammers. I decided to call Jim (I got his number because he was interested in getting into real estate, I have a friend in his hometown who possibly may help.) I told him, I owe you 2500.00, there's no reason for you to sell them for less than face. I told him I would hold the money and buy him into the daily deepstack at the Rio that starts at noon. These smaller buyin tournaments get over a thousand players a day, less throughout the week. They have huge prize pools. He was obviously down in the dumps, he said he didn't feel comfortable doing that, and I told him I wasn't comfortable with taking him for his lammers. We came to a agreement, I will put up the daily buyin and we will split his action in the tournament, until he plays through the 2500. Hopefully this good karma will help us both. I could use any good "karma" in my scheduled events, he could use the luck to possibly make a few deep runs and recover from his degen session.

I love it. finally - -a poker player with a heart of gold. very very nice gesture sir - -
I hope you get repaid with flushes, full houses and quads over the next couple of weeks.

[/h][h=5]My leg gave away in the poker room and I took a tough fall. I had just gone broke and was getting up to get more chips. Hurts like hell.
I had a free hand as I was getting up to get more money. Guess what? It was 10-2. Would have been a great story if I had kicked the bucket.

I never have had a chance to be seated at the same tournament table, and obviously never at the same cash table. He laughs at the stakes I play. Is love to have a conversation with the man. He's one of the few old school players still around. His son also has a great sense of humor. A great person to follow on twitter.

I'm not a superstitious person, but any luck would be welcomed.

Not too sure about how interesting my writing style is from a iPhone, but I'm glad you have enjoyed it.

Played a couple hours of cash last night. Nothing too interesting went down. I got myself in a hole to the tune of -3200 within the first hour, then scooped 2 back to back hands to swing out to +800. Then cashed out soon after. I'm considering playing the biggest tournament I have ever played today, if one of my previous backers decides to work out a little different backing structure than what is the norm. We are considering playing the 25k 6 handed event that starts today. I'm not comfortable playing a tournament of that stake with my own funds. Other than the main, I don't play tournaments of that size. If he is willing to take a larger piece than normal, I may play. I will keep you guys updated.

As of now, I am leaning towards playing. Short handed deepstack is the game I feel I have the best edge in. You won't find a deeper stacked short handed tournament anywhere than here today.

I am considering trying to make a quick trip home before the main. I need to handle some work related business and apparently a crackhead thief decided to take my AC unit from my house. The damn thing was only 2-3 months old.

I decided to play the 1500NL today. I'm pretty sure I busted this tournament the quickest I have ever busted a live tournament. You start with 4500. For those of you that don't already know, you always start with 3 times the buyin amount on the wsop tour. We are at the 50-100 blind level. I had roughly a starting stack (4500) that's 45 Big blinds which is pretty damn deep. I pick up KK from the small blind. A guy in middle position who has been really tight ( maybe played 1 hand at this point it was AA.) decides to lead for 900 into a 150 pot? It folds to the button and he calls? Odd hand at this point, there is 1950 in the pot. I decide to jam for 4500. MP beats me into the pot (fuck.. That's all day AA) button snap folds???? Flop comes 227.. And the MP jumps out of his chair WTF??? He slams 22 on the table and proceeds to ride the fake pony around in circles. Am I in the twilight zone? It makes absolutely no sense. I shake the guys hand and go get a nap.

later in the day I venture down to the Flamingo to see a friend. She had drove up from LA and we went and got dinner. We decided to play some blackjack. We are sitting at a 25 minimum table with two guys from ATL (who look familiar) who are in town to play some poker tournaments. These guys are having a great time, drinking a few too many. After some small talk one of the guys remembers playing at my table in the 4 max. I now remember him. We end up playing for about a hour and everyone is staying roughly even. now Jim has been playing 25 or 50 per hand for at least a hour before he tells his buddy "it's time to up the stakes" he pulls out a wad of cash and buys 3k more which puts him in the game for roughly 4k. This guy proceeds to go on one of the worst runs I've seen in a long time, all the while upping the stakes progressively to the point where he had rebought 3 times. He is now in the game for 10k exactly (I picked that up from the conversation between Jim and his buddy.) he is running so bad that it became awkwardly silent at the table. At some point the guy bet his last 1k and lost. After some sad looking whispering between the two Jim looks at me and says " I know you play poker, would you be willing to buy some lammers from me?" Lammers are the chips you win when you play satellite tournaments that are good for buying into any wsop tournament. At this point I already have all of my remaining tournaments prepaid, so I have no need for them. Guys will pay face value for them though, just to help out strictly satellite players who don't want to have lammers and would rather have cash. I tell him that I really don't want them. He then says I will give them to you for 75% face value. I said ok. This guy pulls out 10k in lammers that his friend told me were being held back for a main event buyin. I didn't have 10k on me, I was 4k short so my friend loans me the rest. I watch this guy bet 1k a hand until he is down to 2k left of the 7500 I gave him. He puts "the last of my money" on the felt.. Boom dealer 21!...... Come to find out from his friend. They both work together and have been saving for 3 years for a trip to Vegas to play 4 tournaments including the main event. Jim has blown through all of his bankroll and has to sit in the room while his friend plays 2 more tournaments and the main event. He is stuck in Vegas for weeks with no cash........that is hell on earth!

Degens gonna degen!

this post goes out to you...my new degenerate friend Jim.

I love me some Jim! Haha. I had just a out of bad as a run back in 2007. I was drunk and pissed through roughly 15k and it wasnt pretty.

Sometimes it is unreal what the dealer pulls. But i have had the days, my best to date($30k run) where i could double a 20 and pull a ace. Lol. Not that id do that, but it was unreal

Stole the whole thing???

Back in college, I had just moved into a new rental house and heard a few crackheads messing around with my AC. They probably thought the house was vacant as school hadn't started back yet. I used my keyless to set off my car alarm and they ran away pretty quickly. Cop said they were likely trying to steal the freon/refrigerant/whatever. Not sure if they would sell it or idiot druggies actually somehow use it to get high. But have also heard of thieves stealing the whole unit for no other reason than to sell it as scrap metal. Steal a $4,000 unit to sell for probably a couple hundred in scrap. Genius.

I manage reo listings as a trade. Roughly 75% of all ac units are stole, or atleast the guts. Sold as scrap. They decided to take the whole thing.

In regards to "Jim" where did this colossal ass kicking take place? Was it the Rio?

What are you going to do with the Lammers now? If I recall they don't "expire"

Nice of you to take care of "Jim" for the other $2,500. How many tournaments does that get him to try to get some cash back?

Sorry about your AC issue, typical thieves. Anything for the dollar.

Jim's asskicking took place at the Flamingo. I already sold them for face to a guy that was buying into the main. That gives him roughly 7-8 daily tournaments.

Playing the 1500NL today. This should be the largest field yet this year. Decided to just take a break last night and sweat the one drop event. I'd love to be able to play that event one day, but I don't think I'd ever feel comfortable playing a 111k buyin. The funny thing is, this tournament is one of the softer fields you will find with all of the rich guys playing simply to donate to the charity. The play is laughable.
