Dubai is far from "crumbling". Sure, the two government-linked property development companies there (Dubai World and Nakheel) owe on a lot of loans, but word is that their neighboring emirate of Abu Dhabi may bail them out. Real estate prices haven't even dipped that much since the 2008, and in some areas have actually increased. Also, the market in Dubai bottomed out in August or September of this year, and since then the property sales value as been increasing fairly rapidly. In fact, the month-to-month increase on villa sales (September/October) was right around 70%.
I just looked the exact numbers up, and in the last six months property values have only dropped an average of 4%, and actually increased by an average of 7% in Q3, so Q2 was the only real killer in the mix. Can't say the same about Florida... (<)<
Beyond that, within the next several years there is projected to be a housing shortage, which could push property values up more than a little. I would rather live in Dubai than Tampa..better quality of life for starters, and then there is the whole no income tax thing...:lol:
