I am not a lawyer, and I am not familiar with Missouri law. From the videos I have seen, there is a group of people walking through a private street and the McCloskeys come out and brandish firearms in their direction.

Now from this incident, do you think the below responses are remotely reasonable?

1. please put it in context of the events surrounding this occurrence.
2. very easy to research the applicable missouri law that gives this couple the right protect themselves and their property.
3. your description is very kind in describing TRESPASSERS who destroyed a gate to gain access onto PRIVATE PROPERTY.
4. given the events of the preceding days before, they had every logical right to be fearful for their safety and the safety of their property.
5. lastly, they have a brain dead da who wants to prosecute them even though they were certainly within their rights

personally, i think that the statements that you have quoted do not go far enough in describing what a fuster cluck this situation has evolved into.

This is incorrect. Watch the video that Cassandra Fairbanks posted.

Did you see the video that Cassandra Fairbanks posted? They did not break down a gate to get into the private community.

Dont know if gate was locked or not, but if its private property they have absolutely no business there. Also those look like some bad ass homes. No reason for those rioters to be there but to cause trouble. They should be rioting in front of city hall.....not in the 5* neighborhood

It's still private property , blm was TRESPASSING & with everything that was going on with the rioting & looting the McCloskeys had every right to protect themselves .

Given the current circumstances, given the current environment, given the current levels of hate and anger....

Can anyone honestly proclaim that they'd be unconcerned and relaxed about a mob entering your property for no good reason?

Seriously?

I would find that troubling, I don't believe anyone can suggest otherwise

Peace through strength, it works. While appeasers get trampled. History proves this time and time and time again, without exception

That's the point. These folks have the right to protect their property. They were at home keeping to themselves. We all know the "peaceful protest" end in riots and looting.....who would want that filth in their neighborhood?

Here is what I will say in the defense of people walking through there. Have you ever used Google Maps to navigate through a city? There are times it doesnt tell you a road or street is private. You are trying to get from Point A to Point B and it gives you the directions without mentioning the road is not open to the public. I have had that happen to me on more than one occasion, and that is what may have happened here.

anyone with a modicum of intelligence would totally agree with your statement. unfortunately, the dumb ass DA of st lou and her minions disagree but, to his credit, the governor has already declared a pardon if this goes to an absurd end.

Additionally, Mark McCloskey seems very truth adverse. Here are some of his dubious initial claims from the incident:

"It was a huge and frightening crowd. They had broken the gate and were coming at us," Mark McCloskey told 5 On Your Side, explaining the videos that show him and his wife aiming a rifle and pistol respectively at the crowd.

Mark McCloskey also told 5 On Your Side he only armed himself after protesters brandished weapons first, a claim organizers deny.

I understand you want to side with the protesters but that reasoning is not valid. I dont know the area at all, but if you have big ass houses, gated road, fencing up around......then there is no way they got lost on google maps entering there. They went in for a reason. Everyone knows that.

If I'm not mistaken BLM stated they were going to the mayors house to protest , does the mayor live in the gated community ?

I don't think you can definitively describe a motive to it. I think it's more likely they were just trying to get from Point A to Point B. They were marching from their place of protest to the mayor's home, and the mayor lives a block away from the McCloskeys. Given that information, it seems pretty likely that the protesters were going through that street to get to the mayor's house.

Now, back to my original point. Do you think that calling for the DA to be "flogged, hanged, or executed for treason" are rational responses to her pressing charges against the McCloskeys.

you just dont want to admit that the trespassers created this mess and you are reaching so far that your statements are absurd, especially the one about the google maps. no let me correct myself, the "organizers deny" is more absurd. you are so dug in it is a waste of time and effort to discuss this matter further. playing the horses today will be constructive than arguing with you.
