Frank Robby may be the most underrated of all the legendary players....he is the only man to hit a ball completely out of Memorial Stadium...off Luis Tiant

When Robinson came to Baltimore in 1966 the Orioles instantly became the class of the American League...

Robinson also the first black manager, while still playing (and managing) for Cleveland in 1975 homered on Opening Day, quite a feet....His career high was just 49 HR's..

JMan:

Frank Robinson's mark on the game may have been somewhat tarnished by his demeanor. Great player but made a lot of enemies.

i rented an oceanfront condo to frank robinson this winter. the expos train in my town and his 40ish blonde girlfriend from orlando contacted me for a place.

his wife stays in california most of the time but i've heard he has had both women in the same town at the same time on occasion.

Nice discussion guys. Can't believe I found myself in such a discussion on baseball. Must be my passion for the Giants. I'm out.

quote:
Saw Mays his whole career and he is still argueably the greatest all around player ever. Bonds is pushing him however.

How is he pushing him? No defense, no speed barely runs to 1st. great great hitter but not a great player.

By the way, I still have a TONY C. autograph that I got when I was 10 years old at the old MET in Minneopolis.

One of the only autographs I ever got...Frank Robby , Brooks, Stargell and Parker all on the same ball, at game 6..1979 World Series...Still have it. (not much on autographs but this was memorable to me)

Fish you remember how they use to do the field at the old MET?

They had those extra marks in foul territory, towards the plate, I always thought that was cool for some reason. You recall that Fish?

Rob:

Regarding Bonds, you have to look at his whole career when he had speed and won numerous golden gloves. If you look at his hitting, stolen bases, fielding when he was young, and power, he has been a complete player over the course of his career. Of course, now as he approaches 40, he can't steal much or cover left field like he did when he was in his 20's. That's what I was referring too.

Yeah, they were cool.

Loved that stadium.

Bonds is one of the most complete players BY FAR! He was a great base stealer too Rob...One of the best alltime leftfielders...

(Fish will remind us YAZ is the best ever in left) I was reminded of this earlier in the year lol
