Railbird , hope you are having better luck thatn myself lately.

I think that Gasquet is definitely the better player of the two, but he doesnt seem to have found any rhythm in his game so fat this year. Its still early, but he didnt have the best outings in Australia. Sanguinett isnt all that much of a player, but he has seem to find ways to win with his limited weapons. I would't be putting down a bet on Gasquet at short odds of about 1.45.

Good luck today!

Loz, I definitely admire your effort and determination but what is going on with these matches????? Not too much makes sense lately........ there is even a post from yesterday that the selector went 0-6......... I am just taking a step back until some kind of form appears. Good luck if you keep plugging away trying :toast:

Hey B2Run.

Thanks for that. Just been sooooo busy at work lately as I am going away on a month-long trip and have heaps of work to finish off before then.

My picks have been going south lately so have backed off a bit. I haven't updated the YTD, but will do so as soon as I get some time.

I haven't been doing too badly on the picks I havent placed on the thread (its always the way), and have managed to peg back a bit of the losses. I am pretty confident that the w/L can be turned around, and its a matter of not second guessing myself too much. I just see it as a challenge.

I am not one to make excuses for my picks as a loss is a loss no matter which way you look at it. Hoever, I am a bit pissed at myself for putting faith in some of the Women players who really put in a piss weak efforts yesterday.

Hope to see heaps of your contributions as always as this is not the Loz show. :puppy:

Ljubicic (-3.5) to bt Murray @1.80 gamebookers (get Pinnacle if odds higher). 5 units

Not much time to give reasoning, but its pretty straight forward. Ljubicic playing in a "home" environment. Has a solid record on carpet/synthetic surfaces 11-3 of late. We all know what he is capable of and he loves indoor tournaments especially.

Murray is a good player - no doubt. But he seems to have gooten off on a bad foot this year espsecially with the pressures placed upon him by the British media (apparently). Maybe he is over this by now, but it seems like he has a lot to live up to and that is not hte kind of pressure that he needs going in to a much against Ljubicic.

The Croat should have a good shot at Murray and I will play the percentages here and tip him to get that handicap. Good luck

Soderling to bt Lopez @ 1.67 Pinnacle Sports 10 units

The H2H is 2:2. Soderling has won the last two meetings which were on hard and carpet surfaces. Lopez won the first two encounters, but one match was played on clay so that should be weighted accordingly.

All matches have been close - going to 3 sets, so dont think this will necessarily be a walk in the park for Lopez.

However, Lopez comes from Australia after a relatively average run.
On the other hand, Soderling has been in top form having just recently won the Helibron challenger tournament which is played on, you guessed it -carpet. So I think that Soderling should hit the ground running whilst Lopez might find it a bit harder finding his feet.

Notably the only encoutner on this surface was won by Soderling. And Soderling's record on carpet over the past 3 years alone is seomthing pretty crazy lke 18:3 overall. In contrast Felicity Lopez has had only been limited (6w:5L over last 2 years)

Whilst odds of around 1.67 might seem a little stingy, I am prepared to put a 10 unit play on this as the signs look right.

Henman to bt Gasquet @1.99 Pinnacle 5 units

Henman's odds are ever so slowly dropping, and I suspect this may be because a lot of people still have faith in the old dog beating the flashy and talented Frenchman.

Henman beat Gasquet recently in Doha on outdoors Hard court. It must be said that Gasquet has not been in a winning rhythm of late.

Whilst he did have a solid win over Sanguinetti yesterdam I think that he will have his hands full with the experience Brit who should be well-suited to playing in these conditions. I've said this before, GAsquet on his day is a very tough opponent, but I am not convinced that he has hit his straps just yet, and Henman should have a good chance to get the win.

Youzhny (-4) to bt Zib @1.80 gamebookers 10 units

This is a bet against Zib who is in my opinion one of the least reliable players on the mens tour. Sometimes it makes me wonder whether this guy even cares about winning with the effort that he puts in. Expect Zib to lose the big points, hell, he will lose almost all the points...against a considerably more classy opponent who actually knows how to win.

With confidence.

I should also add that in the past 3 years Youzhny has a 19w:9L record. Not bad given that amongst his losing matches he played Ljubicic, Fen Gonzalez, Vik and Tursunov.

Youzhny to bt Nieminen @2.15 gamebookers 5 units

Nieminin has been in vexcellent form of late starting the year off with a bang winning the Auckland tourny.

However, this matchup will be much more even than people may think. Youzhny will certainly have the edge in experience and form on this surface. Whilst I wasn't overly thirllled with him dropping a set to pathetic Zib yesterday, I think that it was a good wake up call which will have him prepared for Niemin today. As good a plyaer as Nieminen is, he does have a bit of a let down factor after the big tournys.

Youzhny should win this and at any thing above 2.00 I think it should be snapped up.

Ljubicic (1.10) x Lopez (1.25) x Stepanek (1.40) --> 1.92 @gamebookers 10 units

Anything less than a win for Ljubicic against Carlsen and he should hang his head in utter shame.

Lopez was very solid last night againt Soderling. His opponent Bozoljac got up in a surprise over Andreev, but I suspect that the Russian was suffering from som major fatigue after a gruelling tcoupole of weeks in Australia.

Stepanek is up agaisnt Djokovic who I still think is overrated. Taking apart Vik (who by the way gets the limp dick performance award of the week) is one thing, but beating one of hte toughest competitors on carpet is another.

Good luck!

Likhovtseva to bt Myskina @2.78

Both girls have played each other numerous occasions. Lihovtseva takes the honurs in last 3 matches - and importantly on faster surfaces.

My main gripe with Lihovtseva is that her serve can be attrocious, But if she can get a high enough percentage of her first serve in I think that she will be competitve against Myskina who it must be said has been going through a crisis of confidence lately.

Liovtseva impressed me by getting by Asagoe and Bartoli qutie easily and this will give her confidence today. Ridiculous odds on Lihovtseva especially when she is playing well.

Good luck.
