I agree but GM does deserve some flack for this .
At the end of the day the bet should stand because MA made the huge mistake of saying everything is good .

Aki has joined contests on this site. Mods have his payment info, and if it comes to that, can assist Gassy in getting the $$$ from Aki. But right now we have an attempted stiff job by one of the participants not named Aki, looking to get out of a bet he's likely to lose, or at least because his 2-1 is now available at 4-1 or more. Low, low move.
I'm sure you saying "attempted stiff job" really makes him want to do the right thing and honor the bet man.
He doesn't feel right about the other guy just disappearing for a week in the leadup to the bet. I wouldn't either.
But I'd still realize I made the bet and pay. I think cooler heads will prevail and he'll come around but belittling him probably isn't going to make him want to do so.
I'm just calling it how it is, given the facts we have. What I call it, should have nothing to do with a bet being made, and the result honored. I'm actually shocked Mich is going this route. That's not what an honorable bettor does.
Aki's disappearing for a few days has NOTHING to do with the bet, as far as Mich is concerned.
I'd definitely feel like it was shady that a total stranger on the internet disappeared a week before the bet was about to be finalized. A poster that was here on a regular basis for months. All of us would.
But I'd know that I gave the other poster that option with the agreement I came to and I'd pay the bet. And I wouldn't make a big deal about it.
I had something somewhat similar to this happen a few years back with another poster. I don't really feel like telling the story yet but he got a little freeroll in for a few grand and it was because of a mistake I made.
I am not looking to get out of a bet that I am likely to lose. In my mind I am still likely to win. You may have noticed that the polls are tight as ever. How am I likely to lose just because others think that?
I am getting out BEFORE THERE IS ANY DEFINITION AS TO WHO WILL WIN THE ELECTION because the guy who I bet with has uncharacteristically gone AWOL.
I will make the same bet right now with anyone here up until 6:00 tonight if that person can get a respected poster to vouch for them on the honor system. I think I am going to win. I want to get paid.

How. Gassy already said you'd be getting paid. You ALL agreed to that arrangement. Aki being here or not being here changes NOTHING. You made a bet at 2-1, that is now 4-1 or more, and you want out. Saying it's pick em is disingenuous for someone who knows odds like you do. That's a low move.
