Following the logic of this thread is a winding road at best.

The irony of all the anti -Bama/anti SEC bias that Texas wouldn’t be sniffing a playoff berth if Bama doesn’t take down Georgia. Since undefeated seasons apparently trump all, it would be a an open and shut case with Michigan , Georgia, Washington, and FSU.

And now talking heads have Texas leap frogging FSU to the 3 spot , but there has to be a debate between Alabama/FSU for the 4 spot? Texas’ win over Alabama can carry them to 3 , but Alabama’s win over Georgia can’t take them to 4? Got it.

Let me guess —FSU is really the 3rd team in and Texas is 4th. Then the committee will change the criteria AFTER they choose the top 4 and reseed FSU to 4 because of their QB situation..

Seems like a lot of bullshit to wade through to keep the best conference out of the playoff , but ok. Carry on.

Yes it is quite ironic that Alabama actually secured a playoff berth for Texas and more than likely kicked the SEC out of the playoff altogether

Agree though that Florida State actually should be #3 and Texas #4 the more I think about it. As that would shut down the Alabama argument more

In theory they also could catapult Washington to #1 with their win if they want better semi match ups

Maybe we are all too conditioned to think the SEC is galaxies ahead of the other conferences

That really doesn’t seem to be the case this year when you look at the conference top to bottom and OOC

Alabama had an incredible win today but too shaky the rest of the year

Just think it’s impossible to price these things

The only thing going for Alabama is that this is the last year of this and the committee doesn’t have to worry about creating bad precedent if they leave Florida State out

But Florida State is probably getting in. Based on the ranking and results should be:

1 Michigan
2 Washington
3 Florida State
4 Texas

But maybe they flip Texas/Florida State
That would be the worst CFP of all time. That will not happen

Bama won last week versus a mediocre Auburn team on 4th and goal from the 31 yards line lol.

The committee has been creating lopsided match ups the entire time. They don’t care

Average MOV in semis is 19 points

Plus I doubt we get worse than 65-7
Bye FSU

Who do you think are the 4?
What i think -

1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. Texas
4. Alabama

What the committee might do -

1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. Florida State
4. Texas (Bama barely out. Lost to Texas by 10)

Alabama less than impressive last week vs Auburn I just don't think FSU should be in that's why I put Bama 4 and Texas 3. FSU will be one and done if they get in.

Conferences matter, look at blowout losses the last few years by Big 12, Big 10, to SEC teams. SEC won 5 of last 6 championships.

Bama and GA are two of the best 4 teams, but maybe neither will be in their because of bureacratic criteria and politics. Texas beat Bama 80 days ago, Bama QB was not ready, now he is a monster. Oh, lets put in Fla State in a weak conference with a backup QB that is the right thing to do.

A joke if no SEC team is in.

I think this is what the committee will do based on SOR. The order may not be correct with the top 4 but those are the top 6 teams.

1. Washington
2. Michigan
3. FSU
4. Alabama
5. Texas
6. Ohio State

32 of the last 36 top 4 selected teams were in the SOR top 4. I think 1 in the top 4 will be out and should be out this year. FSU

C‘mon Serbone,

Over the last 2 months FSU has put down
Virginia Tech
Syracuse
Duke
Wake Forest
Pittsburgh
Miami
North Alabama
Florida
Louisville

A murderer’s row if I ever saw one. I understand the Alabama/Georgia hate, but can everyone at least admit the assertion that the ACC is a power conference is merely a concept and not a reality.

I want to see how contradictory the committee is if they are dumb enough to put FSU in the field. If FSU is in , then they have to be the 3rd seed. If the committee has FSU has the 4th seed , then they are admitting they used different criteria to select the field than they did to seed the field. In essence , they will be admitting they didn’t evaluate FSU’s QB situation until after they selected the field.

Agree with all that.
