Three key UK players from a season ago — Chris Livingston, Antonio Reeves and Oscar Tshiebwe — have until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday to decide whether to begin their professional basketball careers, or return to school for at least one more season of college basketball. Former player for Vanderbilt/Milwaukee Bucks told me Saturday it would be best for Tshiebwe to stay and Calipari to go!
The great recruiting class this past year would go poof up in smoke if Calipari would be let go.

No doubt Cal recruits… Coaching seems to be the problem. He has a position with UK forever. I’d like to see some younger blood in his seat. The game has past him by. College ball is looking more like NBA. Less passing more shooting. He showed his X’s O’s the past 2 years with early exits…

If Oscar comes back I’ll give him one more chance… Oscar decision is minutes away…

Coach Cal hits the links with Barrack Obama?

Time for Cal to play 18...

Oscar Tshiebwe has announced on Instagram that he’s staying in the NBA Draft.

He has had talent will be watching/looking for some of this younger team take their Ist step to stardom! Not expected like last years squad that had too much talent trying to piece together. I’m taking a step back and watch this years group come together with Cal’s proven tutoring and Reeves 1 year under Cal’s watch. 1-2 years and move on or out! IE: Cason Wallace/Livingston Two 19 year olds…

The 2023 NBA Draft led to another milestone for Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari, who extended his own record with 16 straight seasons with a first round draft pick….

July 12th-16th

Kentucky will represent the United States in what is being tabbed as “a world-class international basketball showcase featuring Under-23 teams from around the world.” The ‘Cats will play in four games total up north: July 12 (1:30 p.m. EST) vs. Germany, July 13 (8:00 p.m. EST) vs. Canada, and July 15 (1:30 p.m. EST) vs. Team Africa. Following that, a bronze and gold medal championship game will take place on July 16.

‘You really want to know?’ Here’s what John Calipari would do to fix college athletics.

The first thing we could solve easily is the transfer portal,” Calipari said.

His fix: Go back to a student-athlete having five years to play four. If you want to transfer without sitting out a season, you can. Once. That’s it. If you have a year-ending injury, or a mental health issue, or you want to transfer a second time, you sit out the season before getting a fourth year of eligibility. There would be exceptions for missionary trips, military, etc. That’s it.

Lets get ready for his/our 1st look.....

Maybe odds will be up for this Canada venture… Compared to Kentucky’s offseason exhibition trip to the Bahamas last summer — the one that resulted in four blowout victories going the Wildcats’ way — this one should be much more of a struggle.

Antonio Reeves scored 24 points, fellow college veteran Tre Mitchell added 20 points, and freshman phenom D.J. Wagnertallied 16 to lead the Cats to an 81-73 win over Germany, which might be Kentucky’s top competition at the international tournament this week.

This is the true test! Last year to many veteran players who are in the NBA now. This year will could fit better together..

This team is going to be fast/fun to watch! Basketball November 14th playing Kansas in Chicago.. Bang-Bang…

Kentucky took 27 threes (making nine), and Calipari offered up his near-annual proclamation that this should be one of his best three-point shooting teams, a bunch that could theoretically take that many long-range shots on a regular basis. ?

Kentucky faces a really tough test today in Team Canada, as the Canadians are coming off an 88-62 win over Team Africa yesterday, so the Wildcats will need another strong performance to get the win.

UK made eight of its first nine shots Thursday night and never slowed down, defeating host Canada 92-69 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre for its second win in as many days in the international competition.

11-23 3 pointers ?

Looking ahead…. In 4 games in Canada Wildcats shot 117 Threes!

When it was noted that his Wildcats attempted 27 threes in the opener, Calipari, who has already uttered his near-annual proclamation that this should be one of his best outside shooting teams, said the 2023-24 bunch might be a squad that takes around 27 threes per game….. Hope they can average 33%…

Forget going with two or three point guards. Calipari says he’s going to play four of them this season.

There’s plenty of mystery surrounding this Kentucky basketball team, an almost entirely new bunch featuring nine scholarship players who weren’t Wildcats a season ago. Eight of those newcomers are freshmen.

Football takes backseat

When: Nov. 14, 2023 Where: United Center (Chicago, Illinois)

Kansas is likely going to start the season as the No. 1 team in the country, so this game will provide a valuable test for both sides. The Jayhawks got the No. 1 transfer available in former Michigan center Hunter Dickinson over the offseason. Kansas has a deep roster filled with both youth and experience, and playing this game in the first week of the season should draw massive hype. Kentucky leads the all-time series 24-11. The last matchup between these two blue-blood programs came earlier this calendar year when the Jayhawks went on the road and beat the Wildcats.
