Kanye is not a singer he is a music producer who happens to sing his own lyrics on his albums.. Lump him with Dr. Dre, DJ. Quik, The Neptunes (N.E.R.D). You can't compare his sound to a country singer. That is a pretty big genre crossover.

I happen to like Kanye's music. Compared to that ignorant deep south rap bullshit out today Kanye looks like a fuckin genius. I like rap music with substance and heart. Kanye may not be a poet like Tupac or Common or lyrical assassins like Wu-Tang Clan or Nas but at least he has something to say about shit in his raps.

Let's face it Hip-Hop is dead yo. Nas was right. Hip-Hop sampled so much shit from the sounds of the 70's that there is nothing left of the founndation to build upon. They might have to start covering early rap songs like the rock bands and R & B singers are doing today from the 80's bands.

I've thought the same thing ho. It seems like you can't hear a song on a Hip Hop station that doesn't have some kind of synthesizer distortion or Alvin and the Chipmunks voices even though I kind of like Lil Wayne's songs. Thank goodness we still have good singers like Beyonce' and Alicia Keys.

In DC, there is not that many black people so I was scared for Taylor when he went on stage...

As the thread started Kanye clearly only went on stage b/c taylor was white and Beyonce was black. Everytime a white person beats a black person for an award Kanye runs up there and goes crazy. I think this has happened 2431 times so far. He is a sick man.

I said lump him with Dre not he is an equal to Dre. Dre will be the first one to tell you that he is a producer and not a rapper. The same goes for Kanye. Kanye had a hard time getting a record deal because people didn't think he can make the crossover from producer to rapper. Maybe after Kanye amasses a larger body of work he can say his career mirrored that of Dr. Dre's.

Wicked songs. Most of my friends haven't heard of any of these guys or songs. Don't get me wrong, I like hip hop and even some of Kanye West's stuff but most of what hip hop artists bring to the table doesn't even come close to being what good music is about. I see these teenie boppers cruising around listening to Justin Timberlake and other pop crap and rap and they have no idea what they are missing and a lot of them won't even give real music a try. It's a shame.

Yeah, I lived in DC for a year. It was the first time in my life I was a minority where I lived.
