I have actually heard the same about Lampard Rhino, although I don't tend to agree. He was a monster the first 2/3 of last season and the year prior. He certainly isn't as well rounded as the guys you mentioned, but then again he doesn't have to be with Makelele and Essien. I suppose we shall see what happens. Essien is an absolute beast, I gained a huge level of respect for his game during the world cup and since. He isn't being used to his fullest by Chelsea. No need to sign Ballack when they had him IMO. Similar players, or at least Essien is capable of the same game if given the chance, and Essien is younger and better IMO.

Now, we should stop polluting Jack's thread and start this in another one or one of ours.
Completely agree with you about Essien. I think if Man Utd had got Essien last season, they would be absolutely fantastic, and possibly winning the title. I remember seeing him play for Lyon against Man Utd in the Champions League a few seasons ago, and I was amazed that in an away match, he found a way to almost dominate a midfield of Keane and Scholes who I consider the two most influential midfielders in the Premier League.

As for Lampard. His big season was Chelsea's first league title win. I admit, I thought he played very well. He was scoring goals, and his range of passing was decent. The team was really built around giving him the time and space to play. Last season he was poor. He, Mourinho and Sven even acknowledged that he had a very poor start to the season. I watched alot of Chelsea matches, and the games just tended to pass him by. I don't believe it was a case of bad luck, I think its because he is a genuinely limited player. He doesn't play a killer pass often enough, he hasn't got the greatest close control in tight spaces, and he never dictates a match like a central midfielder should. I find it ridiculous that Scholes was shifted out of position to accomodate Lampard in central midfield for England.

Yeah mate, I promise its the end of the Lampard hatred for me. Keep on making the good picks Jack!:suomi:

good to see you andy, I hope I won't dissapoint myself and others.

john, wow this flew over the cookoo's (sp?) nest for sure, it was just a suggestion in any case, I didn't bet it either, you can't win if you don't take a cautious approach.

Olympiakos & Panathinaikos Combo at 2.25 (1.5 odds each, you can get better prices than that, marginally) for 5%.

I m afraid Andy, Larisa result is not what we both wanted, but you can't win em all and there are mitigating factors for this loss, onwards to the next games.

Nice clear win for Aek, as expected, didn't go to the game, cause I m home working, but I am literally a few miles from the stadium that didn't even have to use a live score service, you could tell by the shouts and the cheers when the goals were scored (of course Aek being home favourites), and I kind of like that to feel it in the air when a goal, the goal you are after is scored, with the cheers the pulses the vibe. I am getting all poetic here...lol.

Well in any case a 2-2 weekend, some flukes, some miscalculations, soccer as usual, the two losing bets were actually last few hours decisions as I don't usually include teams of the lower half of the league table in my betting, and only post very select plays, but they seemed like good opportunities. So like I said, normally I should have included only Aek, oh well, we' ll get them next time.

Bottom line is a marginal loss of -1.6% for the weekend, I hope most of you here are not down to your last 10% of your bankroll and can handle this.

YTD 5-3 +2.35%.

(Bank interest rates, hehe, see you soon, gotta plunge into work again)

Familiar with it, we were in Barcelona over the summer. Absolutely loved it.

spain has its good things, and the quality of life one can have is great, just a bit underdeveloped, but it also has its pros.

Barcelona is the most modern bit of spain btw. Did you visit the Nou Camp ??
or sticked with the sacred family cathedral ?? lol
