Black slaves were sold by... fellow blacks. This was done by tribes in Africa who took them in spoils from war or from actually legions of African men who were in the business of hunting and selling fellow Africans as slaves. I am not trying to single out blacks because I know that their is lazy people in every race. I am just stating that 90% of Blacks voted for Obama. Which is more people than voted for McCain because he was white.

I understand the meaning of this election. An African American president is a big step for the African American Race because of our country's past. But I can't seem to understand why Blacks are getting so excited. The way it is being portrayed is that they believe that all of their problems will be resolved. I give big props to Obama because he deserves this. But African Americans have to understand that he is not the president to change only their lives but he wants to change the shape of the country. In all of his policies he does not really say anything about giving things to African Americans to help shape the country. I could understand the crying and the praising last night but today people have to get back to reality. All of us still have to go to work or school or whatever it is you do. Maybe Obama being president will help kick start many African Americans to go to school, go work hard, and become a politician because anything is truely possible in this country. But all of the lazy African American will be the first to realize that Obama will not change their lives but he wants to change the country.

Indeed they are and that is the point...none of what you see happening right now is by accident...Remember, when the media starts pulling the race card, it means blacks are being set up....for a fall....

Stick the phrase "In many cases..." at the beginning and it becomes somewhat credible. But then again, historical accuracy takes a backseat to agenda -- of which is clear when combining the content of the above quote, and your preceding post.

Coming from an La Tech grad i find that pretty funny. Point to me otherwise, where this didnt happen. Slave trade was a big business and it while it was evil and reprehensible it was big money. All sides made money at the expense of the African being traded including Africans. I have not the agenda your referring to, my only agenda is truth, no matter where it leads you.

I don't think Obama election will change race relations much cause, many Black people don't like the white people and the Black people will still treat the white people badly and continue to use the race card cause they get free passes and stuff with it.

The reason for all this here tension is cause the White people hung black people and short many in the head cause they were black. Afonso I of Kongo also gives several written accounts of non-African traders kidnapping and raiding African villages. Here is an exerpt, written in 1526 :
"Each day the traders are kidnapping our people - children of this country, sons of our nobles and vassals, even people of our own family.This corruption and depravity are so widespread that our land is entirely depopulated. We need in this kingdom only priests and schoolteachers, and no merchandise, unless it is wine and flour for Mass.It is our wish that this Kingdom not be a place for the trade or transport of slaves."

As far as my post on welfare, i was responding to someone else. The fact is more whites are on welfare, but they are 3X the population as blacks. What im saying is that is like comparing the INT's thrown this year by Navy and Texas Tech. Ill grant you my timing and post appear to be ill timed about slavery and maybe even unwarranted, so in that case i take full responsibility for what i said and under the current topic it was not in context so my apologies to anyone that was offended, as that wasnt the intent. Now as far as what you said and posts about the author from the 15th century Afonso 1... it is important to relay the rest of the letter that you posted in witch states in continuation of yours:

So he is stating that the Congo men who seek Portuguese richs are the captures not the white men. Why do you think he calls this "corruption" in the first half of the letter you posted? Because its being done by his own people in search of richs. The reality is that slave trade to Muslim countries was going on for millennia before the US and that goes unnoticed. Just like the implications of blacks not understanding that their own people sold them out to get rich, no different what happens everyday in this country or any other country for that matter. So when i see black folks, good black folks wearing Africa colors and outfits, i have to shake my hand of the sheer ignorance. Im sure there is a case of whites herding blacks up and capturing them, but is is a very minor population if any that did that on a large scale. Their entire continent was robbed of its greatest asset (its people) as they conspired with other nations to make money. The reality is just that.
