My girl said last night that growing up her and her brothers and sisters knew there were cultural limits of success and of what they could become. Last night blew the ceiling off those limits.

She only believed that because that is what she was brought up believing. Had her parents encouraged her, instead of feeling sorry for themselves she could have been something too. Had she realized that she could do anything she put her mind and effort into, she could have been something too. There are successful black people all over the world, but they didn't get there from saying "I can't I'm black" yet it was still possible. I am white. I do not understand why black people think like this. Can't do something because you are black? Come the fuck on!

To be honest she is something, but there growing up she bleived there were limits on what that something could be.

Things have progressed a lot in the past 25 years...and this is another great step forward

Thats good that she overcame those beliefs and did something with her life. As a kid I was never taught that black people would never be anything because they are black. They are just people with the same possibilities as everyone else.

Chalk that up to good parenting. Some of us weren't so lucky.

I think this is an unfair assumption. I obviously can't be a spokesperson for Kingbill's fiance, but I can say that based on my life journey, there are many different elements that give power to a "I can't because I'm black mentality". To just stash the blame on her family, whom you don't even know, is intellectually lazy in my opinion.

This is why last night is NOT being unreasonably blown out of proportion by blacks -- Obama defeats the logic that because you are black you can't be whatever you want to be in America.

Exactly it helps kill some huge limiting beliefs.

Blown out of proportion? You mean blown off -- as in my dad, currently in his 60's, would of gotten his head blown off if he even tried to cast a ballot in his youth.

As a black man, I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would live to see this day.

It brings tears to my eyes to think about the people who gave their lives for this to happen.

I think about my dad, who grew up in rural Texas picking cotton for 20 dollars a week, and the sacrafices he has made for me.

To ask if this election is being blown out of proportion by me and my people is to undermind the sacrafices that my people have made for me to even be in the position I am in, in life.

The answer to your question -- no.

I agree, there should have never been slavery just oppurtunities for the African Americans. I do think this whole thing is being blown up by not African Americans but Black Americans. Obama doesnt want this bullshit going around to vote for him just cause he is half black. He wasnt to do go for the whole nation. Take for instance in the Winston Salem Wal-Mart today a Black lady was going around shouting "OBAMA" in every white ladys ears till she got knocked down and escorted out. Obama does not want that and for anyone who voted for his beliefs and not his color should not want this going around either.

Blowjobdizzle,

Excuse me but I wasn't raised to be racist, sorry that I believe that all people are the same with the same opportunities. I don't know who teaches this bullshit "I can't because I am black."

True, I just assumed that it was her family which I don't even know, but I was straightened out by Kingbill himself.

Love,

For real!!

Having him as a president really does change the image of african americans. From this day forth I don't want to hear a word about racism from another black person. Your race card expires TODAY!

I can see how it's "nice" that this has happened but it makes about as much sense to me as a white basketball team.

Anyroad. The next 4-8 years will reinforce or break the empirical evidence, which to date is pretty negative.

Ouch....if I was in second grade.

Excuse me but I wasn't raised to be racist
Which I never accused you of being.

sorry that I believe that all people are the same with the same opportunities.
No apologies needed. We are in agreeance on this.

I don't know who teaches this bullshit "I can't because I am black."
You are right, it is bullshit -- and I admire your disdain for it. Not sure what the purpose of the negative tone in your post was. Your reply feels like a McCain campaign ad. But it's all good. Good day to you.

A lot of people are alive that were forced to sit on the back of the bus. I don't blame anyone of Color for thinking this is pretty special.

Why arent you addressing all the lazy white fatasses that are on welfare?? Which is a higher number than blacks..

Sure its a higher number. And i have made this same claim because its statistically its true, but i know something you dont, or at least to take into consideration. I like to play devils advocate. Whites are 2/3 of the population yet hold just a slight lead in welfare cases then blacks who are only 12% of the population. Do the math.

12% of the population and 55% of the prison population.
