JUSTICE DEPARTMENT BRANDS NYC, PORTLAND AND SEATTLE 'ANARCHISTS JURISDICTION'
Identification is Response to Presidential Memorandum Reviewing Federal Funding to State and Local Governments that are Permitting Anarchy, Violence, and Destruction in American Cities
The U.S. Department of Justice today identified the following three jurisdictions that have permitted violence and destruction of property to persist and have refused to undertake reasonable measures to counteract criminal activities: New York City; Portland, Oregon; and Seattle, Washington. The Department of Justice is continuing to work to identify jurisdictions that meet the criteria set out in the President’s Memorandum and will periodically update the list of selected jurisdictions as required therein.
The list was published on DOJ’s website today in response to President Trump’s memorandum of September 2, 2020, entitled “Memorandum on Reviewing Funding to State and Local Government Recipients That Are Permitting Anarchy, Violence, and Destruction in American Cities.”
“When state and local leaders impede their own law enforcement officers and agencies from doing their jobs, it endangers innocent citizens who deserve to be protected, including those who are trying to peacefully assemble and protest,” said Attorney General William P. Barr. “We cannot allow federal tax dollars to be wasted when the safety of the citizenry hangs in the balance. It is my hope that the cities identified by the Department of Justice today will reverse course and become serious about performing the basic function of government and start protecting their own citizens.”
Criteria for evaluating each city is below:
- Whether a jurisdiction forbids the police force from intervening to restore order amid widespread or sustained violence or destruction.
- Whether a jurisdiction has withdrawn law enforcement protection from a geographical area or structure that law enforcement officers are lawfully entitled to access but have been officially prevented from accessing or permitted to access only in exceptional circumstances, except when law enforcement officers are briefly withheld as a tactical decision intended to resolve safely and expeditiously a specific and ongoing unlawful incident posing an imminent threat to the safety of individuals or law enforcement officers.
- Whether a jurisdiction disempowers or defunds police departments.
- Whether a jurisdiction unreasonably refuses to accept offers of law enforcement assistance from the Federal Government.
- Any other related factors the Attorney General deems appropriate.

AG Barr announced $100 million in grants across the country to combat human trafficking - the largest amount from federal government in history.
The Department of Justice today announced it has awarded nearly $101 million, through the department’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP) in funding to combat human trafficking and provide vital services to trafficking victims throughout the United States.
“The scourge of human trafficking is the modern-day equivalent of slavery, brutally depriving victims of basic human rights and essential physical needs as it erodes their sense of dignity and self-worth,” said Attorney General William P. Barr. “The Department of Justice is relentless in its fight against the perpetrators of these heinous crimes. Working with state and local law enforcement and community victim service providers, we will continue to bring these criminals to justice and deliver critical aid to survivors.”
The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) awarded over $97.4 million to state, local and tribal jurisdictions, service providers and task forces all over the country, while OJP’s National Institute of Justice awarded the remaining $3.5 million to support research and evaluation on human trafficking.
“Human trafficking is a massive global enterprise with roots in cities and communities here in America and across the world,” said OJP Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Katharine T. Sullivan. “The Office of Justice Programs is using all the resources at its disposal to help our state, local and tribal partners uncover and eradicate trafficking operations and help victims open the door to a new life.”

Senate Report On Biden-Ukraine Accusations To Drop Within Days
Senate Republicans are set to release their long-awaited report on Joe and Hunter Biden's activities in Ukraine, and is expected to conclude that Hunter Biden's lucrative seat the board of Ukrainian energy giant Burisma impacted Obama-era Ukraine policy, which was led by Joe Biden at the time, according to The Hill.
Joe Biden has been accused of abusing his position in a quid-pro-quo arrangement whereby he admitted he withheld $1 billion in US loan guarantees if the country's lead prosecutor investigating Burisma was fired.

The Senate report follows a probe spearheaded by Sens. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA), and is expected to be released this week.
"I think it’s time for the American people to see what we’ve got," said Johnson, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. "What our investigations are uncovering, I think, will reveal this is not somebody we should be electing president of the United States," he added.

A New York City police officer who also serves as a U.S. Army reservist has been charged with acting as an illegal agent of the government of China, federal prosecutors said on Monday.
Baimadajie Angwang, 33, was arrested at his home on Long Island and was due in court in Brooklyn later in the day, the U.S. Department of Justice said, in announcing the charges.
“This is the definition of an insider threat – as alleged, Angwang operated on behalf of a foreign government; lied to gain his clearance, and used his position as an NYPD police officer to aid the Chinese government’s subversive and illegal attempts to recruit intelligence sources,” William Sweeney, assistant director in charge of the FBI’s field office in New York, said in a statement.
Prosecutors say Angwang, a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in China, has acted as an agent of its government since at least 2014. He was also charged with wire fraud and making false statements.
Angwang is accused in court documents of reporting to Chinese consulate officials about the activities of Chinese citizens in the New York City area and assessing potential intelligence sources within the local Tibetan community.
The criminal complaint showed Angwang told his handler in the Chinese government that he wanted to get promoted in the NYPD so that he could assist China and bring “glory to China.”

He has also called Fauci, the government’s top infectious disease expert and the director of the NIAID, “attention-grubbing” and “media-whoring,” the Daily Beast reported on Monday.
Fauci and other government health officials, such as Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have spent months urging the public to take the threat of COVID-19 seriously, to take steps to mitigate the spread of the virus, and to prepare for a severe flu season that will compound the danger of infection.
Crews has also slammed public health officials at other federal agencies for their roles in imposing economic restrictions to slow the spread of the virus, which he argued had no basis in science and were part of an effort by the Left to destroy the economy and hurt President Trump’s reelection chances.
“I think we’re at the point where it is safe to say that the entire Wuhan virus scare was nothing more or less than a massive fraud perpetrated upon the American people by ‘experts’ who were determined to fundamentally change the way the country lives and is organized and governed,” Crews wrote in a June post on RedState.
The NIAID told the Daily Beast in a written statement that Crews will retire, adding, “We have no further comments on this as it is a personnel matter.”
