I think BYU would be huge for the Big 12.....fat cats need to get over themselves for once
I'm thinking they'll be looking at Cincy, Memphis, South Florida and UCF before they look at BYU. It's all about recruiting. And those are geographical recruiting hotbeds. Utah isn't.

I agree with Cincinnati and Memphis, but Texas will never alllow South Florida and UCF into the Conference because they do not want to break up the Big 12 South, that could have the 4 Texas teams and the 2 Oklahoma teams if the Big 12 takes just Cincinnati and Memphis.

BYU won't play on Sundays so no legit conference will take them. In addition, the ARE NOT well liked by a lot of AD's because of their holier than though attitude. I think Memphis and Cincy are logical and it gives WVa travel partners. Maybe look at Colo St?

I saw where they interviewed the Big 12 commissioner afterwards. He said changes are coming. He hinted that they may go to war over this conference championship business and the rule that you have to have 12 teams. One way or another I'm betting we'll have a conference championship game next year.

I get the attitude with BYU, but how often is Sunday an issue ? certainly not football and don't see to many CBB games on Sunday with Big 12 games

I would love to be a fly on the wall of the Committee meeting. What are the real agendas and who are the real powers on the Committee vs the followers? Think Osborne has any love for the Big12? Comments from Long after its done won't shed any real light IMO.

You wouldn't want to be that "fly"....Rumor has it, there is way to much eating and heavy drinking and hand-holding which leads to other "things" beside the business on hand. Be reminded there were women in there....You know what that leads too.

Looks like you may be right regarding Cincy having the inside angle to the Big 12:

One school in line ahead of CSU is Cincinnati, where the irony is that athletic director Mike Bohn was hired with the mandate to help get the Bearcats into the Big 12 — the league he helped Colorado leave in favor of the Pac-12.
Other contenders to land in the Big 12 include Memphis, Central Florida, Houston, Brigham Young, Marshall and even Boise State

i still think...once paying players, multi-yr scholarships, health care etc...will wipe out some of these acc schools like wf....

if i were the big 12...why would you not try to merge with them..bring 6 over in football, creating and eastern division and move wvu to that side? all the texhoma schools would remain happy because they are grouped together....

have a division of the following....

west: bay,tcu,okla,okla st,kan, kan st, texas.,i st.......................east: wvu,fsu,clem,vt,pitt,nc, nc st, gt

big 10 will poach 2 more schools down the road...probably uva and cuse??

doesnt make sense to add colost, memphis, cincy type schools...

Television markets are a huge deal with conference expansion. Especially with the Big 12, who doesn't have any big market teams outside of Texas. CSU would give the Big 12 the Denver market. Cincy would also be a big market/recruiting pick up. I would also be looking at UCF.

Go, a question or two for you. First, just how big of a jerk is this alleged commish Bowlsby? He said that he is not in favor of expanding, that he would have voted for TCU over Baylor because he thought that TCU had a better shot at getting in, and that Conference Policy could be reviewed if people think that the lack of a CC game cost the Big 12 a spot in the playoffs. Now how utterly stupid can one be?

Bowlsby and the Big 12 tried to backdoor their way in to the playoffs by being the only Power 5 Conference without a CC game. Obviously he, and the Big 12, do not recall what happened to the Pac 12 (then the Pac 10) when they tried the exact same thing. Only USC with undefeated teams made it to the Big Game. This will happen to the Big 12 and should happen to the Big 12.

Now there are lots of ways to go, but if the Big 12 thinks it is going to get some special waiver and be able to hold a CC game with just 10 teams, I would love to sell these clowns beach front property in Kansas. Now if two teams were going to enter the Big 12 but had to wait a year to do so, then I would consider the waiver, because it would be for one year only. Why not just add, Cincinnati and either BYU, Boise State, or Memphis and get it over with? How long is this fool of a commish going to hold up the process?

JMO but there are no good choices out there for the Big12 for expansion. Poaching some teams from the other Power5 conferences would provide the most bang and maybe increasing revenues as opposed to deleting them among the teams but good luck with that. I think there would be a greater chance that the Big12 implodes and the top teams in the Big12 get cherry picked by the other 4 power conferences.

Again JMO, but I think Nebraska, Colo, A&M and Mizzou defecting was a death knell for the Big12. I understand Texas digging in its heels and staying but I have no idea why OK didn't bolt when they had the chance.

I agree totally. The only thing I can say at this point is that OU knuckled under Texas demands. Now they are caught between a rock and a hard place, as is the entire Big 12. The only way they can save themselves is to expand as painlessly as possible.

Bowlsby is basically just a mouthpiece for the college Presidents (OU,UT) just like Bebee was. It's all about money with the Big 12. Which has been their downfall, from the LHN on down. They think the 10 team split is the way to go, and up to this point they have stuck by it. But it took this latest fiasco to get them off their asses and take a second look at expansion. But if the NCAA allows them a championship game with 10 teams, they won't add any more programs. The conference will receive $58 million split 10 ways this year. Next year they will be guaranteed a minimum $90 million with 10 teams. In other words things probably won't change until we turn into the Big East and ESPN continues to say we do not deserve to be in the playoffs, or the Big 12 expands. I personally think they've already missed out on their best opportunities when they let Clemson, FSU and Louisville slip away. That was probably one of the worst decisions that I've seen in the history of college football. Along with not joining up with the Pac-12 being a close second. Look at what those programs have done since. FSU has won a national championship, Clemson has won a BCS bowl game and Louisville has won a NC in basketball. All of this stuff was easy to predict. I knew if OU or Texas didn't win the conference, there was a good chance of nobody making the playoff. I have a little sympathy for TCU, but I think Baylor is dirty, both in their recruiting and their on-field conduct. But I will never feel sorry for any team who never schedules a traditional top 20 type of program in their non-conference schedule. This should force those programs to take a second look at their future scheduling. If they still don't want to comply, then they have no argument for the playoff if another Power 5 conference team has the same record. OU, Texas, WV, OSU get it. Baylor doesn't.

watered down league by adding those schools.....outside of texas,okla....i dont see why they would want to add them causing them to lose texas,ou on the schedule as a home game every yr....

The committee botched this 2 weeks ago. What warranted TCU jumping to #3? Then, after jumping to #3 they play the next team up which happened to be ISU and beat them 55-3. I know we aren't supposed to look at the odds but they covered by 17 points and the committee sees this how? They drop the to 6! Once again, why were the ranked #3 the week before and what did they need to do to keep that ranking? Maybe, if they would have won 99-0? The explanations are what I am interested in. I don't have a problem with the 4 teams.
