You can't let a bad week get you down Ice. Any that hope to be a pro handicapper always seems to come back from adversity, and you've obviously accomplished that. Just left Vegas on Saturday. Maybe next time we can meet.

I had one bad week really kick my arse in the Stations contest, which dropped me down from 6th to 39th. Next thing I know, my Mom died and I had to rush down to Florida to have her shipped up to Jersey to bury her. Doesn't make it easy to pick games, so I fell a little further down the list. I finally got back to 3-2 last week and I'm currently at 3-1 this week with Carolina hanging in the balance.

Hey Iceman what's up? I don't post much but I really enjoy the hell out of this thread. I still haven't found a good pizza place in Vegas and I've been here almost 2 yrs! I swear if I ever get back to Green Bay I will O.D. at Frank and Pats or Jakes.( Green Bay people know what I mean.) Sorry to be so far off topic but Vegas pizza sucks and people need to know dammit! LOL! Hang tuff and good luck sir!!

You hit a rough patch. Dont overthink & stay focused which it seems like youve done......things will slowly turn around for you (sounds like they already have). You know what you are doing...........stick with the things that are solid higher percentage bets. Lots of volatility in the NCAABB early season.....just stay the course..........Good luck.

Something you dont realize when you plan this out on paper is streaks are inevitable.

Always a pleasure to read your stuff, ice. I was actually going to drop you a line...I was in Vegas the weekend before Thanksgiving.

The cold streaks are the worst. You are stuck in a major rut and can't get out of it...plus there are no guarantees as to when it might end. A good friend of mine also bets sports just about every night, and he literally didn't win a dime from after this past Super Bowl until the middle of this football season. He got his ass kicked week-in, week-out and kept dumping money to his local. You literally can not buy one single break, and it feels like the entire world is fighting against you. I think the best thing to kill that is taking a looooong break (few months at least), but you probably can't do that. I still track what I would have played when I'm taking a break, and it feels like I won if I would have gone 2-9 or whatever on a day, but am still sitting on the sidelines. Take that, Lady Luck...you tramp! Ha.

The hot streaks are what make it all worth it, though. There is no feeling in the world like knowing that as soon as you put your plays in, you're in the zone and are going to wind up making some kind of profit that day. You just know it with the utmost confidence, and it's a better feeling than anything.

Lately, I've been bizarrely having a little of both. I don't understand what's going on...but throughout November, I'd go something like 1-8 in college football on Satuday, then 6-0 the next day in the pros. It would sometimes reverse itself too, where I'd be on fire in college only to dump it all back on the pros the very next day. I've been getting really hot and really cold, sometimes both in the span of 24 hrs. Never experienced anything quite like it for this long. Let's hope I'm not tempting fate to make it cold for a while...

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.

Like I said I have won back a good sized chunk the past wek and a half. Everything has settled down quite a bit. I have a nice routine right now with what and how I want to do things with basketball. Hoping to slowly add more later as we move on. Taking a break or even a day off is not really beneficial to what I am doing. I am an advantage player (or at least I hope I am) and there are oppurtunites out there everyday that I must take advantage of some, so no breaks for me. I know where you are coming and agree with you if I was doing this recreationally but you have to realize this is my livelhood and I dont make any money sitting on the sidelines. I really believe the big thing i have going for me right now is I am one step ahead of most people playing this game and that comes from being in tune with everything, working very hard and mainly being orgainized. I mean I have some awesome bets for this week in the NFL like Washington -3.5, Houston +4 Arizona -2.5 -120, San Diego -3, now most of these were played last week before this weeks openers. I miss on some from time to time but overall I playing with a huge edge on stuff like this. Hard to lose with bets like that in your back pocket. I am 19-12 betting these things, which is 61% on these plays for the year and I didnt start messing with them unitl aboout week 6 or so.

Bottom line is I have too work every angle effectively and put a minimum of 500 plays a month thru the books (on pace for 900 this month) as my edge isnt big and I dont play large so I need to grind away at this everyday if I want to put 200k thru the books and win 3%, which will pay my bills for the month and have a nice chunk leftover at the end, that is the ultimate goal.

I am up almost 3k for this month so that is a good thing but it is so early. If you remeber last month I was up twice that and ended up losing close to 5k for the month, so you never know. Tonight was very frustrating as I was way up early (around $1300 at one point of the night) but proceeded to give it all back and dropped a measly $67 dollars for the night. It was quite a rollercoaster ride. This happens when you have 38 plays going for ( about 5-8 or so where buy backs at middle chances). It's no biggie but had the feeling of a big night early on but I think I ended up losing around 8 of my last 10 plays or so. NBA sides are still getting me but I am doing something different with them so I hope that changes around. Totals in CBB and NBA have netted me closee to $4,500 profit so far this season so that is where I am putting my focus going forward. I had a huge day saturday with CBB totals. Going to load up at a few more books either tomorrow or thursday as some of my books dont deal in cbb totals till later in day, even on days like today when they were up all day.

Stuck having too wait around most of the day tomorrow for my new verizon storm I ordered last week. Pretty excited about having that with me in the books. It came today but no one was here to sign for it. I plan on looking at going downtown a few times a week right after I put my "bigger" plays in around 3pm pst and doing somethings down there. I may also get into playing parlay cards with hoops nightly. I have always said stale parlay cards are a goldmine in Vegas and with how valuable one point off is in hoops, this has some peotential. I have no idea what these parlay cards look like during hoops as I havent paid attention to them in months but i have to assume they are just like football cards and ties win, which is huge. Once again you cant abuse it but I think if you plug away there is some advantage playing these late and daily, eventually your edge will come in to play, hopefully before the books catch on. I have a plan and will explain that later on how to exploit this too the fullest but we are a long way from that as like I said I havent even looked at them in months.

Need to pick up the pace here so I will try. honestly have been super busy with hoops betting latley. Just doesnt seem like there is enough time in the day right now. Havent done really well this week. Been following a few guys I like but they have had a really bad week so overall I am down fpr the week but not a lot.

Really starting to like capping hoops. Wil get into it later at some of the things I use. Really feel like I am onto something with it. CBB is the one sport I think one can really exploit as the oddsmaker has a tough time trying to keep up with all the teams.

The life of a gambler. Friday night in Las Vegas. GF got take out and I rented Dark Knight. Between that, a dog walk and getting a head start on tomorrows hoop numbers this is my friday in the biggest party town in america, sounds pretty exiciting, right?

Thanks, Ice

Your threads are a welcome break from regular life. I'm not in the game anymore at any level really. Do you enjoy the physical nature of the vegas style?

Fixed to make it more exciting...

I like the way you think:nohead:

Overrated movie. Hate unrealistoc stuff, never does anything for me.

Have had another 5 day losing streak after tonight. good news I am still up a few hundred for the month. Unbelieveable I have had 2 5 day losing streaks in past 3 weeks and only 3 or so 24 months previous. Just weird stuff, really streaky right now. I won 1,000 dollars more in 2 days last weekend total then I lost the past 5 days. Huge weekend in store, nothing you can do but move forward.

Got a plan to implement monday morning will unveil it here. The goal is too have a winning weekend so I can go into next week ahead and start adjustments. We shall see.

I go there a few times a month for the heck of it. I only live a mole or two from there. That had a ridicolus line on Thanksgiving and I went there and I played it (and won). Very clean atmostphere. I like it. Got a few dirty looks there when it came to a few stale parlay cards I played. Other then that very quiet small place.

Used to be one of my favorite places to gamble at. They have lots of nice comps and 100 % video poker machines. My favorite cocktail waitress Janet still works there. If you know who She is, say Hello to her from Kermit !

Iceman the vegas sportsbook where you put your plays in, can you wager at home from your computer. Do they have this set up at any of these books in vegas.

I thought this was possible if you are a vegas residence.
