Somebody that has been around for a few years, and lurked a few years prior, the OS has consistently been on the decline. There is a small group of people that like to rip on each other. Its not entertainment nor enjoyable to read. The bickering from the 3 forum betas and the 2 righties is annoying as shit. There are a lot of folks who enjoy talking politics.
To think the OS sets the tone here is ludicrous. Football season sets the tone here. Outside of the CFB forum in the offseason this whole place is dead. There are threads started on it daily.
I agree about the political fighting and people claiming winning threads or knocking people out in threads....its childish.....but consider the sources.
This will be the biggest election on our lifetime in preserving American values. Most people dont understand that. They would rather listen to the talking points the media tells them to.
As a proud American I personally am concerned. Will my world come crashing down.....probably not.....but my kids will not have the life I enjoyed growing up. Most people dont understand this.
Not at all. I have many Dem friends. They really dont like Hillary, so they say they wont vote. I dont agree with that. The under 35 "educated vote" have become the biggest bunch of wimps I have seen. I fall into under 35 educated vote, but I vote Republican 80% of my voting life. I just hate the corruption of all government. Why not give an outsider a shot.

This is the "conversation" that I hear many blacks and Hispanics calling for these days. We're having it and it disturbs some of you. Get over it and listen to your fellow posters. The "conversation" will not always be what you want to hear. But it's a part of "guy talk" everywhere. Why not here?

You can bet 10000% that if the same racist shit that is continually said about Blacks and Muslims here, was constantly said about Christians, or Jews, or Whites, or Protestants, the perpetrator(s) would be banned. The selective racism that is allowed here is disgusting. The same exact standard should be in place for Racism against any Religion or Race. The fact that it's clearly not lowers this place, and also limits the potential diversity.
I agree OS is probably steadily declining regardless for a bunch of reasons but the two aren't mutually exclusive.
Tons of political threads with the same core 8-9 people arguing about nothing = less main board traffic and that means very little threads in the main board devoted to other topics. Like I said, if it generates traffic and the mods are fine w/ it then it is what it is. But clearly you got a lot of good posters posting way less or just not posting at all.

In Trump's defense, if he wanted to really do anything about government spending then he'd get taxed (pun intended) by his opponents.
He is just taking political game-theory to it's logical extension, which is telling people exactly what they want to hear rather than what they need to hear. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
