The second biggest negative to bring down a bankroll, are DISTRACTIONS! A real job(what's that?), school, kids, friends, obligations, alcohol+drugs, health issues, etc., etc. Any time restraint that makes you lose your focus, will cost you.

The downfall for many players is betting the NFL...IMO, the toughest sport to win on a consistent basis. Why? Because linesmakers have this down to a science as demonstrated by tonights game making the Detroit Lions 3 point favorites over the Super Bowl Champs.

I haven't had the time to look at this game but at first glance you have to ask yourself how is this possible even for a pre-season game? And yet, Detroit will probably win based on that line.

I tip my hat to anyone that can pick 65%-70% NFL spread winners.

like i said its not hard to pick a winner. the game is impossible to win because 99 percent of gamblers are not organized and dont have the patience in general to make it. you have people all over claiming they can do it, in reality most of these same are just dreaming

This is such a broad question. So many different people on this forum. My point is, What exactly constitute making a living. I know folks who live of 20 or 30k a year. I know folks you do it for 100k a year. I mean i dont think its impossible to win 30k in a year. But like most of you already said there are a lot of factors.

It was hard not to make money up until US Govt. got involved again.

With reduced vig, free half points off of 7, Pinny, nice bonuses, and viable transfer options like Pay Pal and Neteller, it was like taking candy from a baby.

pops was by far the most impressive capper I have seen on here.his over under system in baseball is sorely missed.I know this has been asked 100 times but what happend to the guy,is he ever coming back.

I have seen this thread tons of times and people always mention that can it be done and people are doing it but I have never read any names or any records or proof of their winning ways.

Why would you expect to? If you have a winning methodology, the quickest way to make it a losing one is to expose it.

the only way I can see someone make money is if they scalp(money guaranteed), but of course you would need a couple of books that move very slow to be able to scalp
I've done it and love it

I have often thought about giving it a go but just have been too conservative to give it a try.

And you can still find scalps available you just have to look harder now. Every day with a full baseball schedule just using 2 books you can find a minimum of 4 scalps. You have to work at it though. Watching line movements several times a day. I am currently using matchbook and one other book. Betting 1k per side. I only do it if I can find a minimum of 4 cent difference. Example: Mets -105 at Matchbook and Pirates Even at other book. Matchbook takes 1% on winning baseball wagers. Guaranteed $20 per game, no risk. I am averaging over $75 per day. That's $2250 per month of free change. I've been too busy at my real job and with an infant and one on the way or I would get a couple of more books active and get myself a few more scalps with possibly some better percentages on them also.

If I had a couple of other books I could easily clear $200/day but it would have to be treated like a job, constant watching of line movements at multiple books.

my thoughts are someone can actually make a living doing this thing called gambling...but only where "live betting" is allowed

Lots of people here win close to 100 units in 1 sport for 1 year.

If you bet $1000 a unit, and bet on MLB, NBA, NFL, NCAAF, and NCAAB you would make 100K a year just winning 20 units a sport.

this is exactly how I started betting a few years ago and I come to realize that i was losing to all the same books. Have you made enough of these bets to notice the same thing? With that being the case I quit betting at the sharp books (books like MB and Pinny) and only played at the sqaure out and I won a bit more that way. It may seem more risky but when you do the math at the end it isnt. Plus you dont have to put 2k of action into work everyday, unless you have a huge bankroll that is going to be a lot of moving of money.

Take what they give you..>>>>

That's the key..>>>

So; know how many units you can probably take down from each sport; each season; and know what part of the season,' and which handicapping situations win you money every year; do not take a bad line; take some time off ifya hit a tough stretch..>>>

Gambling is the tuffest way to make an ez living..

Every point I'm making, has been learned over the years at the school of hard knocks. There isn't anything in life more valuable than experience!

I believe I mentioned more then just bonus whoring. Fact is I used a numerical formula for over 5 years and did very well. Having all of the above to assist me helped me play my system, plus handicap games , and invest in several different sports futures.
Who really cares who you respect anyway !! If you had several thousand taken from you by BOS, Millenium, MVP , etc. why should you feel guilty about 10-20 % legit money that you did receive ?

Have you tried this with other sports like the NBA? The reason I ask is because I'll be "between jobs" this month or next and I would like to give it a try until I get full employment. Baseball only lasts until October.
