I don't think our country can survive a modern day depression.

33 million plus now have filed for unemployment since the Chinese virus came our way..

How many more will file ?

How many won't be going back to their old jobs. ?

How many will have even bigger problems when the unemployment stimulous is gone..

A lot more is the answer to all three questions....sorry to say

That's a great point about different states holding us back. Looks like we should be following the lead of Connecticut, Oregon, Alaska, and California, those are the states with the least increases in unemployment since the start of Covid-19 crisis. While Georgia, New Hampshire, Kentucky, and Florida have been doing the most to hold us back, as they have had the most increases in unemployment claims. Any ideas on why some states are having so much more success keeping people employed? I wonder if it is the strength of politicians in those states, or if it is because the people there are much harder workers.

I've had 2 suppliers tell me they can't get all their employees back to work because they are making more staying at home. One supplier said he contacted 2 local agencies and they have ZERO applicants with a resume in looking for work

California? The in debt going bankrupt California?!

If the state of California is in debt and going bankrupt, but the unemployment caused from the pandemic is better than most all other states, that tells us the economic success during this time is dependent almost entirely on an individuals willingness to work, not government decisions.

If common sense and size of the state and cities tell us why California is doing so well, what is there about Alaska, Oregon, and Vermont for why they are doing so much better than Florida and Kentucky on the list of states seeing the largest increases in unemployment claims?

The problem with this kind of thinking is , unemployment doesn't last forever. A person going for the easy money , might end up with no job and no unemployment benefits at some point.. Seems to me a long term benefit of having a job is better than the short term of a cash grab

This is a great point. Those people are all going to have problems with employment and economics due to their own personal choice to put their short term benefits ahead of their long term benefits.

I thought people that get fired from their job for cause are not eligible for unemployment?
