260 deaths ... 20k overall cases

Do we even reach the millions of cases of the flu each year or the 20K + deaths annually ?

If the death toll does reach or pass the annual flu death toll , how many deaths will we need to see to where we can justify taking this unprecedented economy shutdown ?

Serious question .

IMO, because we have taken drastic steps to reduce the virus, we don’t really know how many would have been infected and then died.

With the “common flu” we have some statistics but again not everyone with the flu is diagnosed.

The one thing I say is we have set a precedent that will be hard to ignore the next time we have a virus worse than this one.

The shutdowns have just started, doctors have already said they are expecting the numbers to go up in the next 2 weeks -as the people who got it a couple weeks ago are just starting to show symptoms. Doctors are saying by then they are hoping things will start to level out. We will know more in 2-3 weeks

We've already peaked. Deaths went down from 57 two days ago to 49 yesterday. Today we have 23 so far but they go by GMT.

I Dunno, Italy lost 630+ People in a 24 hr Period. Rolling the Dice on that kind of stuff is just not worth it. For anyone continuing to believe this is Hysteria, I think it's time to have a change of view. I can understand why one would believe this, as the media constantly blows things out of proportion. But this REALLY is cause for serious concern. The Virus is just SO Contagious. It would be very self-centered to continue to downplay this, as it could very well kill an older individual you come in contact with. I have been getting my information from two of my Friends who are medical Doctors. Both say this is VERY REAL and cause for SERIOUS CONCERN.

Trump has dealt with this in a great way. Without the China ban, we would look like Italy with many more deaths because of the population difference.

Yeah it'll get much better in the US when doctors and medical staff run out of medical supplies soon.

EXPONENTIAL GROWTH is different than linear growth!

Whenever you have exponential growth, whatever it is that's growing will double its presence/population in a given amount of time. Let's say you start with a population that has just one infected person on January 1st, and the number of infected people doubles every three days.

Look at exponential growth in green!! It far surpasses linear growth as time marches on!! 250 unit 8, 500 unit 9, 1000 unit 10. Doubling!! Sheesh gotta spell it out to you! Like I said before you kept saying exponential growth and mentioned double the cases in a day on the same page, therefore the entire US should be infected in 30 days!!
I’m done with you. The virus has been on an exponential growth pattern, period. The only thing I said about doubling was about some city of something that almost doubled the amount of cases in a day. Exponential doesn’t mean something has to double every day.

Our Future. The entire Flight 462 and beginning of The Walking Dead. Love the line in the little 13 minute vignette. "You think it's that flu that's been going around"

What happened to “we’re getting ready to land” and then they still never land

You clearly couldn't explain exponential growth if your life depended on it

Do you believe if Barak Hussein or Biden was in office , we would be shutting down the economy ?

Also , could be off base here , but are the Dem governors the ones taking the lead in shutting down their states ?

big BUT there....

we can't really say we a lot of certainty how much of the number exponential growth is due to spread of virus or more and more testing getting available and results coming back.

its prob both, but to what degree?

ultimately we will never have good real time numbers, and even in retrospect are #'s will be pretty shitty and unreliable some big city hospitals have already abandoned testing completely
