this was my post from 2 days ago..
History will show that we have made a monumental mistake shutting down the economy over the Kung flu..
Certain steps should be and have been taken... shutting down travel to badly infected areas was a good move... Quarantining older people maybe even to a mandatory level should have been another .
The rest of us carry on.. If you're sick stay home just like any other time with any other sickness..
State a major health alert.. people can take precautions as needed..
The things is, in that scenario, if 10, 20, 50% or more got infected, then the economy would be shut down anyway to the degree of infections. The virus problem would be much more prolonged, & dealing with it more like cutting a cancer out a bit at a time over a number of operations. Better to operate once & remove the thing all at once.
Also way more people would become infected, hence more deaths, more ill health, loss of quality of life, & therefore probably overall damage to the economy in the long run.
Then there is the possibility of the longer the virus thrives & the more it spreads, the greater chance of it mutating into something else that has to be dealt with, something even worse.
