Sammy is a compulsive gambler, poker is pure luck anyway.

agree. It is more luck than I thought until I played it at a little more serious level and came to the same conclusion.

Everything has some luck involved but I think poker has more than most will lead you to believe.

Poker is dying on the natiional level because the so called big names are no where to be found in tourneys, anyone can win. Every guy turned into a bust, it is a big lie when someone says they are a pro poker player. In any pro sport the top players domiinate and in poker a 15 year old kid that has 9th grade math skills can beat Phil Ivy 5 times in a row in 3 hr games of no limit.

Sammy's been a complete donk the last couple of season's of HSP. Playing garbage and betting damn near every flop. Taken quite a beating.

However, his best game is high stakes pot-limit omaha, where he is usually regarded as the best player at the table. Sammy's just got a helluva lot of gamble.

Chip Reese far and away the best high stakes cash player as recognized by his peers. Doesn't play many tournaments. Too much luck involved. Farha an average professional can grind out a living.

I have always wondered how many of the guys you see on TV, who have become household names, actually win in a year playing poker.

My buddy who goes to UNLV knows Joseph Bartholdi ( http://www.worldpokertour.com/players/?x=profile&poker-player=361 ). He won the WPT Championship a few years back. In his profile they talk about him losing his bankroll playing BJ, which is true, but they do not tell you how he really made it back. He started pimping out his Sister and she was turning tricks to feed his poker playing. He made some money and hooked up with Joe Cassidy and Cassidy started bankrolling him. He won the 3.7 million and split the winnings with Cassidy.

My friend saw him two months ago playing 2-5 NL. He talked to him and said that he tried to make a run at the big game and lost all his money. I could not even imagine being in my early 20's with over a millions dollars to having nothing. I think the tournaments are feeding the cash games and these guys who win these big tournaments try to play in the big games and get eaten alive by Ivey, Reese, Giang, and Brunson.

I agree Sunday look at that putz Jaimie Gold. LOL He has given away some of his winnings since. He wanted to hang with the big boys but gotten his ass handed to him everytime I saw him.

Ice......So are we to think that since you couldn't figure out how to be a winning player at poker now you come to the conclusion its all luck. That realy comes off like you think if it wasn't luck you would have been a big winner. Just doesn't sound right to me. You have made post like this in the past that just comes off very I'm great at everything I do so it can't be me thats wrong or bad its the game.

Poker Rocks I am a cash game player for the most part. I consider myself to be a pretty good post flop player. Everyone can see the 2 cards they have. The trick is after the flop.

You crack me up. You twist things so bad sometimes.

I said everything, repeat EVERYTHING has some luck involved in it. This has nothing to with me and I think 99.99999% of the people believe that and that is obvious.

I think (and this is my opinion) that poker has more luck involved in it than most poker people will lead you to believe. Meaning that from what I have gathered that most give the skill level of this game a higher level than I DO. That is all that means.

I still think there is a TON of skill in this game and I love the game (more to watch than play) but I the more I have followed it, the more I feel that luck plays a BIGGER (key word) role in the game that I orginally felt when I started reading/playing it.

Not sure how or why you feel ripping me is apportiate over this but whatever. I never said anything about me and how good (or bad for that matter) I am at it. When I first picked up the game I think I was more expecting skill to be a little important than it is, that is it. Maybe my expectation level was too high. I am just a little suprised luck plays as big a role in it than it does. It still doesn't mean I don't think the best players eventually win. You know better than to think that. I am still fascinated by the game and watch and read about it all the time and I plan on pursuing a little more in the near future.

Just funny that you can twist this around when I NEVER said anything resembling what you are implying. Thanks.
