I personally admire the "road warrior" tag to go along with a team's reputation.

It's not so much that I am critical about the Gators way of scheduling games
because it's not a case where one size fits all, though it would be very fair to
gauge teams on a level playing field as much as possible. But where's that
"over the top" element of their reputation that says we are road warriors
in the extreme sense... "you'd better look out."

I'm just saying that I'd have more respect for them if they showed up
with that type of gamesmanship and took their show on the road. Yes it's
harder that way but whoever can survive the gauntlet deserves everyone's
respect. The money will be there, more of it if they play their cards right.

You can't say that isn't a big part of USC's reputation. So look at what they can
do with that in the recruiting arena and elsewhere.

Guess I should have said 'under nfl contract ' . My mistake. That would include Tyler Bray,Matt Sims,Justin Worley. Guys got the shit kicked out of them in the SEC. Meanwhile Jeremiah Masoli doin work in the CFL. The league his clown school trained him for....which is why Oregon can't recruit qbs and Tennessee is turning them away

Oregon doesn't recruit QB's for the NFL last time I checked, they recruit QB's that fit their system. Funny you always bring up Jeremiah Masoli who transferred to a SEC school lol

Oh yeah Oregon 2 Tennessee 1 NFL QB's

Florida can only sign 25 kids a year max per sec rules. They will fill that quota from 4-5 states. They will get 16-20 from florida and Georgia ans pluck a kid here and there. They aren't going to spend the resources to fight 75 schools in southern cal, it just doesn't work that way and if you can't understand that then Immsorry. It's the same reason LSU loves playing in state schools (although their legislature likes for the money to stay instate and puts political pressure on it).

Usc liked to travel under Pete Carroll because they were selling an image and loved doing it. They did quite well doing it also.
exactly. doesn't matter if it's an SEC school or a P12 school they are only going to schedule and travel for a big OOC opponent if it helps with recruiting. Florida or Alabama or Florida State (or most other ACC/SEC schools) shouldn't have an interest in signing Washington or Arizona as an opponent...makes no sense. Those two states, combined, don't put out 10 high-level SEC-caliber players per year. Alabama expanded their recruiting base by playing neutral games in Jax, Atlanta, Dallas and next Orlando. They aren't doing this to avoid a big scary road trip but to expand their brand in the region's most fertile recruiting areas (TX, GA, FL). If they tried to live off Alabama recruits alone they would be Miss St or Ole Miss.

Oregon NEEDS to leave the state, Arizona State NEEDS to leave the state....and when they leave they aren't going to Ames or Bloomington for a game, they're going to a place which can actually influence recruiting. It wasn't by chance that Bama signed Penn State as their last big home-and-home opponent....they wanted to get in on PA/NJ recruiting which has landed Minkah Fitpatrick, Robert Foster, and several others currently in the pipeline. It's also not by chance they are moving their big neutral OOC game around these next 3 years (USCw in Dallas, FSU in Atlanta, Louisville in Orlando) to keep their image fresh in those recruiting areas.

I'd love to see Fla playing someone OOC other than FSU but it would mean dropping that game and I'm not for that. Why would anyone want to see FLA vs UVA or ARK when you can see FLA/FSU?

While it is good to see Michigan playing teams like Bama and Utah OOC i would still much rather see them play ND ever year even if its only 200 mile trip

These "Big-Time" college football programs are in a tough & competitive business, aren't are they Tide ? It's a delicate high-wire act with landmines below.

Nick Saban does go after recruits all over. He whiffed o. A huge QB last year from CALI and is heading teo recruits from the north east right now.

If if you want respect from me for any of the florida schools then you aren't ever going to get it!! Urban Meyer created a culture at UF which was akin to prisons, FSU at one time couldn't publish a starting lineup trill hour before the game because they didn't know who would be in jail or not. Miami, no different. I don't respect any of the Florida schools as one of the above said they would get more respect from him, they don't want too.
