The latest change of course comes one day after NBA commissioner Adam Silver — also personally named as a defendant in Sterling’s lawsuit — reiterated his confidence that the sale of the Clippers will go through.

In a Sunday press conference before the Miami Heat’s 98-96 win over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, Silver said that Shelly Sterling’s agreement to indemnify the league against any possible lawsuits from her husband as part of the sale of the Clippers assuaged his concerns.

If Donald Sterling’s lawsuit does prevail, any damages would be paid out by the Sterling Family Trust.

“In essence, Donald is suing himself,” Silver said. “He knows that. While I understand he’s frustrated, I think it’s over. It’s just a matter of time now.”

Ahhhh, but here is Sterling's reasoning: he gets somebody to say that the TWO doctors who confirmed he is a nutter were wrong, thus the Old Bag Wife didn't have the authority via the trust to sell the team, and thus the "suing himself" scenario doesn't apply, and the other owners didn't have the right to force a sale. Good luck with THAT scenario...

seems like the NBA voided the sale when they tried to sneak the ban and fine back into the paperwork

Well they also have an email from Donald Sterling agreeing to allow her to sell the team, which he reneged on. I'm sure Ballmer, the NBA, and Shelly Sterling's lawyers understand what they were doing. The NBA is going forward with vetting Ballmer and going to the owners will vote on his ownership later this summer. If the sale was actually off the NBA would go back to the hearing and have the owners vote to terminate his ownership. This is a done deal. Just a lot of noise from a crazy man.

Thirdly, the league will otherwise ignore Sterling. The league will continue its review of Ballmer's offer and the NBA's Board of Governors will almost certainly approve the offer later this summer. The NBA likely feels emboldened to proceed with the sale. Keep in mind, Sterling's lawsuit is unlikely to succeed. Just as important, even if Sterling's lawsuit beats the odds and wins, "success" would only constitute money damages — the Clippers would already be owned by Ballmer and no judge would disturb Ballmer's ownership. Moreover, Shelly Sterling and the Sterling family trust, both of which have indemnified the NBA against Donald Sterling, would likely pay those damages. Sterling effectively owns half of his wife's wealth and half of the trust, meaning that if the indemnity agreement holds up in court, Sterling would effectively be paying himself half of the damages owed to him by the NBA.

Willie, I know u said u were going to Naples and I dont know if uve ever been to Venice but it's about as impressive as anything I've seen - the surrounding islands too (Murano and Burano) - I would not want to stay there for a summer (I got an apartment in Florence) but for 3-4 days Venice would be perfect

two weeks isn't very long, especially since I have a very large immediate family I need to spend time with. But Venice is on our short list of sites too visit, along with Rome, Capri (no brainer since it's across from Naples) and some beach house in Calabria

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling's team of lawyers has hired four private investigation firms to dig up "dirt" on the NBA's former and current commissioners and its 29 other owners, a source confirmed to ESPN.com.
The move was earlier reported by The Associated Press, citing a person familiar with Sterling's legal strategy.
Investigators were given a six-figure budget over the next 30 days to examine the league's finances, allegations of previous discriminatory conduct and compensation to past commissioner David Stern and current commissioner Adam Silver, said the AP source, who spoke Thursday night on condition of anonymity. The person wasn't authorized to talk publicly.
The person said the investigators also are looking into whether other owners made any off-color jokes, or racist or sexist remarks.
"The gloves are off, as they say," the person said. "Have them dig up all the dirt they can find."

how come really smart people never saw this coming

looks like scum and his messiah have something more in common, scum claims victory here and the tide turns while Obama claimed victory in Iraq

once again proving another one of my long standing arguments, "it's genetics", they have the same damned behavior patterns.

Ummmmm...you were here claiming victory last week and now we can assume you claim victory again. No matter how it falls you somehow manage to declare yourself a winner....all the while you've earned the nickname Wrong Way Willie. Something isn't adding up....you still ain't gettin it.

The NBA should be ashamed of themselves!

I guess a lesson here is not to be so quick to kick the elderly around. If someone has had a parent with dementia or Alzheimers, they know it does not come on suddenly. If Mr. Sterling's private detectives can document that another NBA owner has said as bad or worse things than Mr. Sterling, either in public or private, that NBA owner should go - BANNED FOR LIFE! The NBA Commissioner and owners need to be taught a lesson, you don't abuse the elderly!
