Purdy has his chance against a Philly Gang Green defense on FOX Sunday afternoon. Should/Could be primetime instead of Chief/Packers.

He isn't the MVP of the team. McCaffery is
I don’t know about all that
How good were those panthers teams he was on ?

Exactly

If I could choose a QB for now, and the next 5 yrs, Herbert would be about my 6th choice, maybe even 5th.

He seems to always play behind an OL that is usually mediocre at best, then gets banged up, and cannot block on the fast artificial turf they play on. So Herbert gets dinged more than most, and plays hurt sometimes.

His WRs seem to always get hurt, too.

AND, his coach is an idiot.

I do not understand why there are some "haters" re Herbert.

STALEY SUCKS, CHARGERS NEED A PRO COACH.Just a sloppy and undisciplined team, Saints are the same version in NFC. Allen cannot coach either.

coaching sucks there. Could go on and on by this staff. Its like the team is waiting for something to go wrong. A spell of some kind
Chargers really have no homefield advantage either. Most of the time they have a disadvantage with the snap counts, with the crowd noise favoring the visitor.

He's definitely not the biggest problem on the team

What Herbert accomplished last year was pretty remarkable, down his top two WR’s, top TE and top RB for significant stretches, his OL, which was already average at best was banged up, his coach is an absolute moron and he had broken ribs. The Chargers would have spiraled out of control with most QB’s in the league under those circumstances.

Will he break into the elite, upper echelon of QB’s? I don’t know, he still makes a ton of mistakes, but the situation he’s been in can’t be overlooked. Unfortunately for him, they’ve mismanaged their roster, draft and free agency so poorly, things will probably get worse before they get better. As RE mentioned, they basically play seventeen road games a year as well. At least he’ll have a new HC next year, but I can’t see the rising candidates at the “top of the list” being in a hurry to take that job if they have other options available.

Purdy getting shafted by the wagers coming in ? These are sportsbook odds.
Writers vote for MVP. If Purdy were a high draft pick his numbers would be too good to ignore. Since he was drafted last, he gets no credit.

sportsbooks aren't asking writers about their votes.. The odds and even Purdy's odds are pretty much based on the wagers coming in.

What about Stroud for MVP if they win 10 games?
It would be challenging to overcome some of his negative metrics. He’s second in bad throw percentage to only Bryce Young for QB’s who’ve started all/most of the season and in the top three in missed open receivers. For how off he’s been on such a high percentage of throws it’s nearly a statistical improbability that he doesn’t have way more INT’s. If he doesn’t improve in that area his INTs should skyrocket down the stretch.

He's been real lucky. Lots of turnover worthy plays.

Posted across the street but if Purdy was drafted in the 2nd round from Alabama he would be the MVP favorite. Last pick from IA St. isn't going to cut it with the media.

Purdy has better surrounding talent but Philly is up at the top too. Purdy was the last draft pick from Iowa St.

Hurts
11th Rating
6th QBR
12th PFF
15 TDs
9 Ints
249.7 yds/game passing
7.6 yds/attempt passing
34.5 yds/game rushing
3.5 yds/attempt rushing
Surrounding talent
WR - Brown 3rd leading receiver
WR- Smith 29th receiving yds
RB - Swift 3rd leading rusher
-----------------------------------------
Purdy
1st Rating
1st QBR
13th PFF
19 TDs
6 Ints
261.4 yds/game passing
9.4 yds/attempt passing
11.1 yds/game rushing
3.7 yds/attempt rushing
Surrounding talent
WR - Aijuk 9th receiving yds
WR - Samuel 46th rec. yds
RB - CMC 1st
Purdy now the favorite.
