Perry raises possibility of states' rights showdown with White House over healthcare

AUSTIN — Gov. Rick Perry, raising the specter of a showdown with the Obama administration, suggested Thursday that he would consider invoking states’ rights protections under the 10th Amendment to resist the president’s healthcare plan, which he said would be "disastrous" for Texas.

Thanks for the above post. The attitude expressed in that New Testament scripture is the prevailing motivation for my own belief that we collectively pool our efforts to help assure that as many of our fellow Americans receive needed health care and assistance as is possible.

But why leave it up to govt to organize? why not let private let private individuals and non profits organize this type of healthcare? Im sure it can be done more efficiently than the govt would do it

Actually, I can see both sides. I wouldn't want to be supporting deadbeats either. I'm just saying if you are claiming to be the best nation in the world, people shouldn't be denied healthcare in your country just because they can't afford it. We've all heard the stories.

Also, some people can't help being poor, although I'm sure for a lot of them it's just because they are lazy.

Who is denied healthcare? I have never heard of anyone being turned away. What is Medicare, Medicaid, Tenncare, etc..............?

Nice imagery from MMJ, but since we've come to realize that at least 50% of his posts here are nothing but pure Shock Value, it's easier to just skim right on past to more sincere offerings from other forum members.

I dont expect Jefferson Davis Perry to have state of Texas employment much longer.

Maybe he will move to Washington to become a lobbist. It would raise the IQ of both areas.

Perry has long ago become a parody of his ownself

When he gives back the federal stimulus dollars, he can then open discussions with a 10th Amendment basis.
