I actually am 1 of those suckers but I don't pay close to $225 a month, around 1/3rd that.
This seems like a horrible idea though unless I am not following. You would need to run 10k in debt up and then by only paying the minimum payment to block them you're gonna get hit with huge interest charges unless you keep spending that much every month since this is going to go on 2-3 months where they are closed (and who wants to go back there immediately anyway?)
(edit: I guess it would work with a lower limit but it is my main CC)
I called CC company, asked them to request stop payment, emailed the gym as well. They're going to be overrun with complaints to the BBB that I'd be surprised if they got away with this.
We'll see what happens, but talk about unethical.
the gyms somehow are able to continue to get those automatic payments through. the won't willingly stop doing it. most people would use their lowest limit card to set up an automatic withdrawal not a 10k. hindsight. the BBB is toothless now and always have been. all they do is print reports on businesses that are unethical to warn consumers.
