how does a 35 yr old survive as an elite in a young mans game? How is this possible? The dude is a freak ,an EXCEPTIONAL individual

what he is doing is unprecedented in the modern tennis era.

ytd- 21-2

3 titles won, The Australian Open and two Tennis Masters Series Events- at Indian and Miami

as for his arch rival?

Vs Nadal ytd
AO Open- in the final - won in 5, DOWN A BREAK in the 5th and won the last 5 games

at Indian Wells;

4th round

fed defeats Nadal 62,6-3

at Miami

in the final

Fed beats Nadal 6-3, 6-4

when many were questioning why he still plays as a shadow of his former self, he just kept trotting along...adapting with age

Grand Slam # 19

the tennis world is a buzz, accolades pouring in.........a few

"The way he plays tennis nobody ever played tennis like that," Patrick Mouratoglou, Serena Williams' coach, tells CNN.
"It's so natural. It's like a symphony. Nobody will ever play tennis like that ever, impossible.
"It's just perfection. The movement, the timing, everything is prefect and that's incredible."

Old Man is beyond unreal, in fact , Sampras is calling him a 'freak of nature'..

http://metro.co.uk/2017/11/08/pete-sampras-roger-federer-is-a-freak-of-nature-7063259/

‘Roger’s just one of those freaks of nature who comes around once every 50 years. He’s been very smart with his schedule and hasn’t overplayed. ‘He’s been playing enough to keep it fresh. He still enjoys the travel. He loves the game. ‘Put that all together and he can play for another year or two if he wants to, and if not, he’s got the right to do whatever he wants.

Federer is the greatest of all time.

Do not think it is debateable.

Head to head vs Nadal was largely on clay because Nadal was not good enough to consistantly make title runs on other surfaces.

Of course alot of it comes to the way Federer handles himself. Most players are long retired at 36ish.

Bullshit. Nadal absolutely crushes him on clay 13-2. The total of all the other surfaces is virtually even. Though one could take note that Nadal also crushes him on outdoor hardcourt

Yeah, I said that. Nadal will always win on clay.

Federer is far more consistant than Nadal. Every 3 years, Nadal skips half of the year largely because of his style of play.

I like both of them but Federer is superior. Nadal gives his everything on every point. Federer could win 6-1 6-3 and not even break a sweat.

The natural talent is incredible. Doesnt depend on any 1 aspect of his game. Can win in many ways

like Rafa as well, but have become increasingly disappointed with his whining. It's becoming pathetic, embarrassing himself

after his exit at Melbourne Park

https://www.theaustralian.com.au/sp...y/news-story/ebaef9dd2dbbe6e19cad01f103054351

“Somebody who is running the tour should think a little bit about what’s going on,” Nadal said in a post match press conference. “Too many people are getting injured.
“I don’t know if they have to think a little bit about the health of the players. Not for now that we are playing, but there is life after tennis.
“I don’t know if we keep playing on these very, very hard surfaces what’s going to happen in the future with our lives.”

man, hard not to lose respect for the warrior. NO ONE forces him to play a chosen schedule. OR A CHOSEN playing style with advancing age. STOP CRYING. Thankfully, he doesnt have to face Fed at Indian Wells/Miami- he'd lose in straights.

I like Nadal as well. I still remembering him coming out of nowhere in 2005 at the age of 18 and swept the clay court season.

That is something you rarely see. Still say Federer is GOAT though. Just more of a complete player.

Pete Sampras has 14

When he played the competition was pretty weak.

His rival was Andre Agassi

I think he was quite old then. At the Sampras prime, there were a lot of players that came and went.

Becker has to be around 30 in Sampras prime.

Interesting era in tennis. Federer, Nadal, and even Djokovich could be discussed. Those 3 have absolutely dominated. Djokovich is far younger but could easily win 3 grand slams a year without Federer/ Nadal.
