Lmao, the US Government has been one of if not the biggest innovator in the last century+. Not even close, especially now that almost all Universities get funded research from the Government. Hell, even the Google dudes started off with Government money. The government isn't a business, they do not give a fuck about creating iPhones or personal computers to sell. First, Governments don't invent things people do, and I have no problem with money being spent on education and research, as long as it's not spent on cronyism and bull shit, which a big portion of it is. I'm talking about the regulating of people. If there's a better alternative energy than burning fossil fuels lets invent it, but don't expect people to be willing go back to living in the stone age, because climate change is the "end of the world", because that's never going to happen. I like living with air conditioning, I like the shit that factories produce that make my life easier, that increase my life span. Telling people they have to cut back on that stuff isn't going to happen.

You can say the same thing about the private sector. The private sector doesn't invent things, people do. This is why government is so important. Without organizations and force, people would destroy the very land they live on, no questions asked. Capitalists have no problems with slave labor, dumping toxins in to the air or water, destroying the environment, etc. The US would be an even bigger cesspool if there wasn't some regulations preventing capitalist swine from destroying the Earth.
