The fact is they really don't know, it comes to theory and when I researched it, it seems it has to do with atmospheric compounds/elements. CO2 levels seem to play an important part in it. I will have to ask the climate scientist I know but he will probably laugh at me and tell me to quit posting on forums.
If trends wants to know what is believed by scientists he can google, " what caused the ice age." It has it's own wikipedia and there is a part about climate change or global warming he should read, where most scientist believe in global warming and they give a rationale. Now he can believe that rational from experts or he can disregard and use his own opinion, Gas Man's, Joe's, Rush's, Hannidys, or some Texas Politician but if he does I hope he and others do not chide those who believe in OVERWHELMING expert opinion.
This was one politician I really liked, most Minnesotan's loved him, I truly believe he broke his back for the people. I remember his campaign adds when he first came on the spot light when he was out spent 7 - 1 and still won. You lead the pack dumb ass. Global warming is not a problem that deserves the attention that the libtards want it to have. It is theoretical like everything you guys conjure up. It is damned sure not a priority and does not deserve the dollars that we are wasting on it with the U.S. carrying the debt load that we have at this time. can't believe you're still pushing this 90-something percent number. there have been articles upon articles explaining where this fictitious number was derived from (Doran/zimmerman) and it was a TWO QUESTION study that over 3k scientists completed (there were 9 questions but the other 7 were asking age, gender, race, etc). They completely ignored the consensus and focused on the fact that 76 of 79 people that checked off "climatologist" said the planet was warmer than in pre-1800 and that 75 of them said humans had a significant part of the temperature rise.
of course when you separate out this tiny % of responders and then use that as your source of 97% scientific consensus and perpetuate that as accurate you're as stupid as the rest of them
the fact is that even in this joke 2-question study overall just 77% (and that includes the 76/79 "climatologists") said the temperature today is warmer than pre-1800 and only 58% believe humans have played a significant part in the warming trend.
Now 58% isn't a lot of fun when calling something a consensus so they specifically used the 79-person subset to put out this 96.2% number for people like you to recite. obviously it worked

what is sad about today's scientists...and apparently fratty believes himself to be one...is that they don't collect the data objectively THEN make an argument, instead they make a hypothesis THEN pick and choose which data is available to validate it. Of course it's all driven by the desire to be published which is driven by the taxpayer-provided federal grants used to fund the "study".

i'll give fratty this...75 of 79 out of 3200 two-question surveys did respond that climate change is not only real but likely created by humans. pretty compelling stuff...
