147 Really? I will have a large play on that. I don't see how they can set it that high given Dukes defense has been excellent and Georgia Tech's offense has been lackluster at best.

I hope your right but I don't see Georgia Tech breaking 65.

I am not a big fan of playing Duke Totals, if they are playing well offensively, the game seems to fly over and they allow points to be scored, if they struggle, they lock down the other side on when they have the ball.

As I said, I think it will be around 147, I don't know what to expect.

Like your Syracuase play.

I see Duke scoring close to 80, particularly with the way GT plays D.

I am probably going to go with the square play and take Duke, as Gt struggles from Deep and from the foul line.

Yes, I see what your saying. I don't like playing Duke totals either typically unless its an over just because I feel like they get to the line so much and shoot a high % most games from the stripe. However, on the road could be a different scenario. Duke might look to take the crowd out of it and slow the pace.

Also 9 of the last 10 times these two have met it has gone under. Not sure if that has any relevance but it is something to consider.

@ Georgia Tech they have played to 138, 140, and 116 since 03.

I agree Duke is the play. I won't be playing but I may look for a 2nd half on Duke.

I think this is a 73-58 type game.

Also since your the Big 10 dominator...opinions on MSU??

I like MSU on the road -4. Don't like the -4 that much, but still confident enough in MSU.[

Battle and Pringle have to shot nearly 45% from deep for PSU to stay in the game. Penn State has no inside game and I know Pringle and Battle have been terriffic from deep, but Walton and Lucas have the foot speed to create problems for both guys, quick foot speed from defenders equals the ability to recover and contest shots.

MSU has really started to find its groove with Goran Suton returning. I know PSU knocked of Purdue at home, but that was without Hummel and Kramer who are Purdue's best player and glue player.

I think Penn State hangs for a while and then MSU pulls away and wins by 6 or 7. I just don't like teams that have no inside game and strictly really on the 3 point shot. PSU is averaging 8 made 3s per game, but sometimes those numbers are skewed based on some early season games. In conference play, it becomes much more difficult because of familiarity.

Also, MSU is yielding only around .33% from deep. I just think that PSU will struggle offensively.

Yes, against Michigan State the lack of an inside game will kill you in my opinion. Like all the points you made and I think they will control the glass in a big way.

Thanks 6figure. Lets get some moolah.

Sparty always controls the glass and against a team like PSU, that means additional offensive opportunities and easier opportunities for points.

Wake Forest @ Boston College
Line: +2.5

This line smells like a trap to me. I just don’t see how Wake is only -2.5 against Boston College. I mean they can’t be this dumb. They have to know they are going to get HAMMERED by Wake money. They seem to be just fine with that. Although, they are inflating the line rapidly so at least it isn’t just frozen at 3 with everyone hammering Wake. It could have just been a bad line but I don’t know. The line is so bad that that’s the only reason I don’t have this as a 7 unit play.

Boston College, as mentioned, has one win to their resume and gets some great credibility. Upsets happen in college basketball, it doesn’t make BC any better or worse. They are still the same team. They are the same team that lost to Harvard at home, Miami at home, @ Saint Louis, and vs. Purdue on a neutral floor. What people fail to realize is that UNC shot 38% from the floor, 31% behind the arc, and 55% from the line. UNC shot 51% before that game from the floor. BC’s defense had nothing to do with it as they had many open looks from 3 point land and inside, just nothing was falling.

BC also has Corey Raji nicked up and I have him as questionable as we speak. The only thing in BC’s favor is that they have owned Wake Forest. They beat them all 4 times rather easily. However, it is safe to say they haven’t been as good as Wake is this year.

Wake has some good wins this year. They beat Baylor in Anaheim (a win I didn’t see coming), broke the country’s longest home winning streak @ BYU, and beat UNC (again in a game UNC shot poorly). However, Teague is the biggest thing in this game. He will no doubt be the best player on the floor and he is much better then I anticipated. He seems to have taken the step to the next level as one of the best players in the country. He had no problem blowing by anyone guarding him in that UNC game.

Rice and Sanders are going to have to lead BC. However, when Rice can’t get to the bucket, no easy task vs. Wake, he seems to recklessly toss up any shot he can get off. This will kill them vs. Wake and he needs to be much more selective. Wake should control the paint and glass. Their bigs really impressed me against UNC. If they do, I don’t see how BC wins. In order for BC to win they must get all the calls, shoot an insane %, catch Wake looking ahead, and somehow shutdown Teague.

Just don’t see it. I may fall into a trap but I have tried to get off of this game a few times and can’t do it.

students are back

the students came back on monday....im a local and we all know psu will not stay with msu....purdue looked terrible without hummel and kramer when they played in an empty bryce jordan center..please do not let this fool you into thinking penn state is any good at home..we all witnessed what happened when penn state couldnt hit a three against minnesota..andrew jones is a pussy and cornley is a poor mans blake griffin..get in on this early because you know the line will move up to 6.5 by tip off....msu will win by 12 or 13......once you start seeing cornly shoot threes....you know the game is over

Thanks for the local perspective. Everything you said sounds good to me. Any word on the campus thoughts on this game? I know most students don't take the basketball program seriously but this is one of thier better years in my mind as they will get thier fair share of wins.

Maryland @ Miami
Line: -8
Really like this Miami team and I think McClinton is the 3rd best shooter in the Nation. It’s weird to think where this Miami team would be had McClinton not gotten ejected against Ohio State. They had everything going well, they were 4-1 with the loss vs. Uconn, ranked, and held a double digit lead vs. Ohio State. Then McClinton got ejected and the wheels fell off. They ended up losing to Ohio State by 5 but if they don’t lose that game they are 13-2 with losses to Uconn and Clemson. They won @ Kentucky, no easy task. They are coming off of a win @ BC and I think this team is a better team then they are getting credit for. McClinton can change a game and has a supporting cast of Collins, McGowan, Hurdle, and Asbury who all pitch in and do their part.

Maryland however is down in the dumps. Miami has beaten them the last 5 of 6 times out and they have already been spanked by Gonzaga and Georgetown and then lost to Morgan State. Yup, that’s right…Morgan State. I look at the Maryland team and guys like Vasquez and Hayes and it just doesn’t seem like Maryland. This is their first true road game and I don’t think they react well.

I think Miami rolls but will play it safe and play the 1H at -4.

Miami 1H -4 (2 Units)

Baylor @ Texas A&M
Line: +1.5

Who can forget what happened the last time these two played on the same floor? Baylor won a 116-110 5OT game, an instant classic. Anyone who caught the replay on ESPN Classic knows what I am talking about as both teams played their hearts out. This year I don’t think we see 5OT but it should be a good game nonetheless.

Baylor is a tricky team to cap. They seem to just chuck the ball up from behind the arc all game and sometimes will catch fire but sometimes will start tossing up bricks. You never know which you are going to get. I feel like Baylor belongs at Rucker Park rather then the Big 12. Jerrells, Carter, and Rogers are all excellent one on one but against teams that play good defense they will struggle.

Texas A&M can defend the perimeter well and have an inside game with Elonu. Baylor is soft in the middle and while A&M isn’t a big team they have the inside advantage over Baylor. I like the points here @ home and a win for A&M. Getting late, that’s all until that Duke total gets posted.

So to recap:

Syracuse +6.5 (4 Units)
Wake Forest -2.5 (3 Units)
Michigan State -4.5 (2 Units)
Texas A&M +1.5 (2 Units)
Miami 1H -4 (2 Units)

And the Duke total most likely when released.

also one warning!

do not be greedy and take michigan state first half if its -2.5 or -3.5. It may seem too good to be true but just DONT TAKE IT! penn state is one of those 1 half great the other half terrible....

this may be my second post but i hit every psu basketball game, nothing will ever change with this program....also another note....psu WILL begin to struggle scoring as the season goes on..you cant just rely on two guards running up and down throwing up retarded shots...i cant wait to take the unders when psu plays teams like iowa....
we are ALL so lucky psu covered and beat purdue at home....hahaha....just too much respect for psu with the line opening at +4.5...hahaha....Andruw Jones hahaha....Jeff Brooke mr. kentucky...haha..just watch these guys and youll laugh

Also, I will be playing Duke/Georgia Tech Under if I can get a number over 134, which I think will happen.

Will write it up if I can get the number tomorrow.

If you were to guess team totals even in a down year for G. Tech, i would make it 64 here at home and 75 for Duke placing this somewhere around 139.
