KEY STAT: Before facing Guatemala, USA had scored 13 goals in their previous six games

EXPERT VERDICT: The USA could not have had a better preparation for the Gold Cup after seeing off the might of Germany and Holland in build-up friendlies. However, Honduras won't be a pushover after reaching the semi-finals in 2013. Jurgen Klinsmann's side should come out on top but it could prove a tight affair.

RECOMMENDATION: USA to win 2-1

KEY STAT: Jamaica have conceded only four goals in their last eight games

EXPERT VERDICT: Costa Rica were the surprise team of the 2014 World Cup and are the highest-ranked team at the Gold Cup after reaching the quarter-finals in Brazil. Expect them to come out on top of this one, although it won't be easy. Jamaica don't concede many goals as they showed at the Copa America.

RECOMMENDATION: Costa Rica to win 1-0

KEY STAT: El Salvador have kept just two clean sheets in their last 11 games

EXPERT VERDICT: Canada are bound to be confident they can do well at the Gold Cup having lost just one of their last seven matches and an opener against a poor El Salvador side looks the perfect first game. Tosaint Ricketts hit two goals in their 4-0 win over Dominica and could set them on their way to three points.

RECOMMENDATION: T Ricketts first scorer

KEY STAT: Trinidad have failed to score in each of their last five matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Guatemala have suffered heavy recent defeats to Mexico and Uruguay but they should have little to fear from a clash with Trinidad & Tobago. Their opponents have struggled in attack lately and two clean sheets in World Cup qualifiers against Bermuda show Guatemala are capable of keeping them out.

RECOMMENDATION: Guatemala

# 2 EVANORA 2/1

# 3 COUNT ON ANNA 6/1

# 1 SITTIN CHILI 6/1

EVANORA is the most competitive bet in this race. Her 53 average has this filly among the finest speed figures in this event. Earned a 53 TrackMaster Speed Rating last time out. A duplicate race here should get the win for this race. Many handicappers love this filly on the driver-trainer ratings alone. COUNT ON ANNA - Wrenn will be looking to score for this race, has been tearing it up recently. Win pct this last month is a sparkling 23. SITTIN CHILI - Drawing the 1 position at this track has lead to a well above average win percent.

# 4 REMUS BLUE CHIP 9/2

# 5 PRIVATE INTERVIEW 7/5

# 2 MY FELLA 8/1

Hey, listen up! REMUS BLUE CHIP is the educated wager if you like to win. Sometimes you just have to go with a vibe, think about this one's chances. This fine animal looks strong considering the high class statistics. We wouldn't recommend tossing out of any exotics. The number crunching team will always throw in a nice horse from the 4 post here at Tioga Downs, keep in mind for your exotics. PRIVATE INTERVIEW - Feel the need for speed, this entrant has been turning in some terrific speed ratings averaging around 84. Has a sharp shot for this race, if he can race to his back class. MY FELLA - Top players at Tioga Downs will notice this standardbred's pace figures are among the most competitive in the group of horses.

# 6 MYSTERIOUS MAGIC 7/2

# 7 SUPER ME 5/2

# 1 FOXY CHAMP 3/1

MYSTERIOUS MAGIC is my choice. Ran a sharp last race. Is difficult not to consider given the company run in recently. Sound average Equibase speed figs in dirt sprint races make this equine a definite contender. SUPER ME - Is a definite contender - given the 62 speed rating from his most recent race. This gelding has a strong win percentage in dirt sprint races. FOXY CHAMP - Has been running solidly in races of this distance, going 1 - 6 under similar conditions. Is hard not to examine given the company run in recently.

# 2 HAZARDOUS DREAMS 7/2

# 12 PYROTECHNICS 5/1

My selection in this event is PASSINAFLASH. Has posted reliable Speed Figures in dirt route races in the past. Recently Gutierrez has been on fire which may give the edge to this colt. Will probably be one of the early speedsters of the bunch going into the halfway point of the contest. PYROTECHNICS - Solid average Equibase speed figs in dirt route races make this equine a definite contender. Has the looks of a lucrative bet.

#4 OLYMPIO'S GAL (ML=7/2)

OLYMPIO'S GAL - Sophisticated horseplayers will tell you that this thoroughbred has strong speed. Taking a trip down in the class scale; has the class ability to make her presence felt.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 RUPERTACTOFDUTY (ML=5/2), #5 PURE DELIGHT (ML=4/1), #6 LIL WATT (ML=5/1),

RUPERTACTOFDUTY - 5/2 is not priced right for any horse in a sprint of 6 furlongs that hasn't hit the board in a sprint contest of late. Registered a pedestrian rating last out in a $5,000 Claiming race on Jul 31st. Unlikely to see an improved performance off of that rating. PURE DELIGHT - Hard to take this mount at the odds after the finish (sixth) in the last affair. Tough to keep chasing this kind of 'hanger' horse. LIL WATT - Usually I need a sprinter to have some recent success in sprint contests in order to bet on her. 5/1 odds isn't enough for this thoroughbred when looking at the most recent outings.

#9 TUNEINTOBOW (ML=4/1)

TUNEINTOBOW - Taking this jock/trainer combination is a smart move. I really like that this equine shows a gate workout since the last event and is getting blinkers on today. Always a good angle to play.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 STAR ACTOR (ML=7/2), #5 ELCINICO (ML=9/2), #1 ONE LUCKY STEP (ML=5/1),

STAR ACTOR - Not the best 'situation' in this contest. ELCINICO - Registered a disappointing speed figure last time out in a $40,000 Maiden Claiming race on May 25th. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that figure. ONE LUCKY STEP - Not easy to bet on this vulnerable equine this time out. Make him show you something in a short distance affair before you play him in a race of 6 furlongs.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - TUNEINTOBOW - This colt will be very focused today. Blinks will do the trick.

#6 ZINDAYA
#2 DARING KATHY
#9 EMOTIONAL KITTEN
#8 MARBRE ROSE

This stakes race named in honor of Perfect Sting who was nearly flawless at Belmont Park. With better luck, she might have remained perfect. The Stronach homebred's first graded stakes victory came in the G3 Sands Point at Belmont for trainer Joe Orseno. She would go on to take the G2 Just a Game, G2 New York, and G1 Garden City while collecting an Eclipse Award in 2000. Here in just the 2nd running of this stakes test, #6 ZINDAYA, a 5-1 shot, qualifies as a TrackMaster PLUS "PowerPony," and has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in four of her last five outings, including a trio of "POWER RUN WINS" being embedded in this recent streak of racing consistency. #2 DARING KATHY, the morning line favorite, comes off back-to-back "POWER RUN WINS" in her last two outings, however, I did not consider her for my "top slot," since she has not raced in some 222 days.

Friday's six-pack

NBA comings and goings.......

-- Dwyane Wade gets $20M in a one-year deal with the Heat.

-- Phoenix gave away Danny Granger, Marcus Morris and Reggie Bullock to Detroit (for a 2nd round pick) to clear cap room to sign LaMarcus Aldridge. Good luck.

-- Monta Ellis took $44M for four years from Indiana, turning down a bigger offer from the Kings, who continue to be a laughingstock.

-- Greg Monroe chose Milwaukee over the Knicks and Lakers. Go figure.

-- Knicks signed Aaron Afflalo to a 2-year, $16M deal.

-- Golden State re-signed Draymond Greem for five years, $85M.

Bonus Play Friday

BREWERS (Fiers) @ REDS (Lorenzen) 7:10 PM

Take: BREWERS -113

The Brewers would need one of the all-time great rallies to get back into playoff contention this season. But while they might already be reduced to playing the role of spoiler the rest of the way, there’s no question this Milwaukee entry is on its best run of the season to date right now.

I don’t think it’s any coincidence that this surge has come just as catcher Jonathan Lucroy is rounding into the form he displayed for most of last season. Lucroy is the glue on this team. Ryan Braun is the past MVP and Carlos Gomez is the most exciting talent on the team. But the Brewers MVP is Lucroy and it isn’t close. Milwaukee could be a seller at the deadline, but unless they were to be offered a king’s ransom, the one guy on that roster who should be untouchable is Lucroy.

In addition to Lucroy getting back toward his groove, there has been an increase in energy since Craig Counsell assumed the managerial reigns. Let’s face it, the Brewers came into 2015 looking like the team that fell apart late in 2014 and the change in the dugout had to happen.

Speaking of change, the Reds need to make some moves themselves. And it sure looks like they’ll be doing exactly that, although the general consensus is that that the front office won’t officially wave the white flag until after the All-Star festivities taking place in Cincinnati are done. It’s rather silly as everyone knows what’s about to happen, but I guess creating a phony perception matters somehow.

Regardless of when, it’s virtually a given that Johnny Cueto is going to be dealt away and Aroldis Chapman might not be far behind. It look to me like everyone on the current roster knows the score and let’s just say that this is not the most focused team in the game right now.

The Reds have actually been a decent home team this year. But Michael Lorenzen has had some struggles and the numbers tonight point to Mike Fiers of the Brewers having the advantage. The one downer is that the Reds enjoyed a day off on Thursday while the Brewers were winning a 13 inning marathon over the Phillies.

But with the Brewers actually the hottest team in the NL over the pasty ten days and an edge on the mound with Fiers over Lorenzen, I’m of the opinion this is a good spot for the visitors. The early money showed on Milwaukee and they’re now small chalk, but at the current impost I’ll endorse the Brewers to pick up another win tonight.

Bonus Play for Friday, July 3, 2015 7:35 PM ET

(907) PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES VS (908) ATLANTA BRAVES

Take: UNDER

Reason: Your Bonus Play for Friday, July 3, 2015 is in the MLB contest between the Phillies and Braves in Atlanta. The Phillies have no offense, 29th in baseball in runs scored, which is last in the NL, plus 29th in on base percentage. They won't be able to score any runs in Atlanta, which is a big park. Kevin Correia goes for the Phillies and the veteran is throwing well with a 3.60 ERA and the under is 3-1-1 in the Braves last 5 home games vs. a right-handed starter. Atlanta has Julio Teheran has a winning record overall and has thrown best at home with a 4-0 mark and a 2.35 ERA where batters are hitting .173 off him. Atlanta's offense is mediocre, 19th in runs scored, so don't look for many hits or runs. Play Philadelphia/Atlanta Under the total.

Milwaukee Brewers vs Cincinnati Reds

Bonus Play Over

I'm recommending a play on the Over between the Brewers & Reds on Friday. Both teams have been scoring runs in the situations they're in tonight. Milwaukee has averaged 6.6 rpg during their current five game winning streak. Meanwhile, Cincy has scored 68 runs in their last 12 home games, an average of 5.67 per contest. Both starting pitchers, Fiers & Lorenzen walk too many batters, which is one reason I believe the Milwaukee righty is a little over-valued. But instead of backing Lorenzen against a red-hot Brewer squad, we'll back the Over in a game where I believe both teams will do their share of damage at the plate. And finally, the teams will hook-up at Great American, which is one of the 10 highest OPS ballparks in the Majors in 2015. I'm recommending a play on the Over between the Brewers & Reds on Friday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

Baltimore Orioles vs Chicago White Sox

10* FREE MLB PICK Baltimore Orioles -136

Baltimore's Ubaldo Jimenez has been dealing of late, posting a 2.75 ERA and 1.068 WHIP over his last 3 starts and is now 7-3 with a 3.09 ERA in 15 starts on the season. I'll take my chances here with the Orioles against the White Sox. Chicago will be starting lefty John Danks, who has had a tough time at home, going 1-3 with a 5.00 ERA and 1.417 WHIP in 6 starts. Danks has a 4.28 ERA over 12 career starts against the Orioles and Baltimore is averaging 4.6 runs and hitting .275 as a team against southpaw starters this season. Roll the Baltimore Orioles -136!

Baltimore Orioles vs. Chicago White Sox
Baltimore Orioles-141

This game features the 42-37 Orioles at the 34-42 White Sox. John Danks goes for the Sox and this guy is brutal. Really has no velocity and trouble locating pitches. Jimenez has had a nice year going 7-3 with a 3.09 ERA. I expect the Orioles who really need a win today after a tough late loss to the Rangers yesterday. Ubaldo has been awesome in his last 5 against Chicago 5-0 and the White Sox are 3-8 in Dank's last 11 home starts. Take the Orioles to win for a 10* play.

Marlins-Cubs Preview

(AP) -- The Chicago Cubs have languished offensively of late, but they inspired some optimism with a better showing their last time out.

They'll look for another improved performance Friday against the visiting Miami Marlins, who have fared surprisingly well since losing Giancarlo Stanton.

Chicago (42-35) had scored two runs or fewer in eight consecutive games before winning 6-1 against the New York Mets on Thursday, completing a three-game sweep at Citi Field. Though the Cubs fell to 9 for 65 with runners in scoring position over the last nine contests, Starlin Castro and Miguel Montero were both 2 for 5, with Montero and Jonathan Herrera homering.

Joe Maddon gave Kris Bryant his first day off since being called up April 17, perhaps in an attempt to help Bryant shake off his slump. He is 7 for 41 (.171) with 16 strikeouts in his last 12 games.

"I can't sit here and tell you we bludgeoned them," Maddon said. "I know they've been offensively challenged. So have we. It's the ebb and flow of the season."

The Marlins (34-46) swept San Francisco with a 5-4 win Thursday as Jose Fernandez homered and earned the victory in his first start in more than a year. They've won four of five since losing Stanton for four to six weeks with a hamate fracture in his left wrist. Stanton leads the majors with 27 homers and has 67 RBIs.

Christian Yelich is 9 for 14 with six walks since Stanton went down.

Miami's Tom Koehler (6-4, 3.66 ERA) comes off back-to-back seven inning outings for the first time this season, knocking off the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers. He limited Los Angeles to two runs in a 3-2 victory Saturday.

"I sit up here every time he pitches and talk about his gritty, gutty effort," manager Dan Jennings told MLB's official website. " ... He stuck his nose in there today and gave this club exactly what we needed. Tremendous effort by him."

While Koehler can win a third straight start in the same season for the first time, the last two victories came at home, where he owns a 1.79 ERA in seven starts. The right-hander sports a 6.21 ERA in seven road games and is 13-12 lifetime at home compared to 8-13 on the road.

Koehler didn't pick up a decision in his last matchup with the Cubs, giving up four runs - three on a Castro homer - over six innings in a 5-4 home loss June 16, 2014.

Castro is the only Cub with multiple hits off Koehler, going 2 for 7.

Jason Hammel (5-3, 2.92) had a tough time returning to the mound after a 1-hour, 43-minute rain delay Sunday at St. Louis. He was charged with a season high-matching four runs in four innings in a 4-1 loss.

Hammel, who has posted a 1.56 ERA in his last five home outings, has walked 10 in his past five starts after issuing seven in his first 10. He's 2-0 with a 2.05 ERA in his last four meetings with the Marlins, allowing one run and striking out a career-best 11 over 6 2-3 innings of a 5-1 victory June 1.

The Marlins took the next two in that series with Adeiny Hechavarria going 3 for 7. He's 9 for 16 in his last four against the Cubs.
