NHL roundup: Isles win in Weight's debut
By The Sports Xchange

NEW YORK -- John Tavares scored in the first and third periods Thursday night and Thomas Greiss earned his second straight shutout as the New York Islanders won Doug Weight's debut as interim head coach by beating the Dallas Stars 3-0 at Barclays Center.
Calvin De Haan added an empty net goal with four seconds left. Greiss recorded 23 saves.

Rangers 5, Maple Leafs 2
TORONTO -- Michael Grabner scored two third-period goals, Brady Skjei scored a goal and added an assist, and New York defeated Toronto to end a three-game losing streak.
Henrik Lundqvist, who allowed seven goals in two periods in a 7-6 loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday, made 23 saves in the Rangers' net. Pavel Buchnevich and J.T. Miller also scored for the Rangers.
Tyler Bozak and Zach Hyman scored for the Maple Leafs. Frederik Andersen made 36 saves in for Toronto, which won its previous three games.

Senators 2, Blue Jackets 0
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Kyle Turris and Ryan Dzingel each scored a goal and Ottawa neutralized Columbus behind the goaltending of Mike Condon for a victory at Nationwide Arena.
The Blue Jackets lost for just the third time in regulation in their past 21 home games.
Columbus could not get the puck past Condon, who stopped several point-blank chances in the third period and weathered a five-on-three power play late in the game. He finished with 42 saves.

Wild 4, Coyotes 3
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Nino Niederreiter scored twice on the power play, including the game-winner with 7:06 left, to propel Minnesota over Arizona.
Niederreiter added an assist, and Eric Staal and Chris Stewart also scored as the Wild won for the 18th time in 22 games. Devan Dubnyk made 20 saves.
Brendan Perlini, Jakob Chychrun and Jamie McGinn scored for the Coyotes, who lost 12 of their past 15 games in regulation. Shane Doan added two assists, and Louis Domingue stopped 21 of the 25 shots he faced.

Capitals 7, Blues 3
ST. LOUIS -- Andre Burakovsky and T.J. Oshie each scored one goal and assisted on another as seven Washington players scored in a rout over St. Louis.
Andre Burakovsky, Jay Beagle, Marcus Johansson, Brett Connolly and Justin Williams also scored for the Capitals. Braden Holtby made 22 saves.
Jaden Schwartz scored once and Alexander Steen scored two late goals for the Blues.

Flames 4, Predators 3
CALGARY, Alberta -- Ryan Ellis scored twice and Nashville held on to edge Calgary at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
James Neal and Filip Forsberg also scored for the Predators, who rebounded from a 1-0 shutout loss of their own they suffered on Tuesday in Vancouver to the Canucks. Viktor Arvidsson chipped in with two assists, while rookie goalie Juuse Saros made 32 saves.
Kris Versteeg and Michael Frolik counted goals 17 seconds apart in the third period, while Sean Monahan scored with 47.2 seconds remaining for the Flames.

Sharks 2, Lightning 1
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Logan Couture scored a tie-breaking goal early in the third period to lead the San Jose over Tampa Bay.
Sharks recent call-up Ryan Carpenter broke a scoreless tie 5:01 into the second period by scoring his second goal in his fifth game this season.
The lead was short-lived, however, as slick-skating forward Jonathan Drouin wound up at center, blew right around the usually unflappable Marc-Edouard Vlasic, and went backhand-to-forehand to tuck his 14th goal of the season around San Jose goalie Aaron Dell 1:13 into a man-advantage.

Ducks 2, Avalanche 1
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Nick Ritchie scored with 2:02 to play as Anaheim rallied for a win over Colorado at the Honda Center.
Hampus Lindholm added his second goal in four games for the Ducks, who received 21 saves from John Gibson in earning their eighth win in 10 games.
Gabriel Landeskog scored for the Avalanche, who suffered their fourth successive loss and 14th in 16 games despite 34 saves from Calvin Pickard.

In the Crease - Week 15
By Joe Williams

Streaky Teams
Wins and Losses Streak Over/Under Streak
Arizona 2-11 past 13 overall Arizona Under 15-5-1 past 21 overall, 10-2-2 past 14 road
Carolina 14-2 past 16 home Colorado Under 4-0-1 past five overall
Colorado 2-12 past 14 overall Edmonton Under 9-1-1 past 11 home
Philadelphia 2-9 past 11 overall, 0-9 past nine road Nashville Under 7-2-2 past 11 overall, 5-0-2 past seven home
Toronto 8-2 past 10 overall, 8-1 past nine road Winnipeg Over 7-2-1 past 10 overall

Lose-ipeg Jets
The Winnipeg Jets have struggled mightly in recent weeks, as both goaltenders Connor Hellebuyck and Michael Hutchinson have struggled in the crease. The Jets have allowed three or more goals in four straight outings, and eight of the past 10. That's a good reason why the 'over' is 7-2-1 in their past 10 overall. The Jets return to action Wednesday night at home against the former Jets, Shane Doan and the Arizona Coyotes. The 'under' is 10-2-2 in Arizona's past 14 road games overall, as they have been struggling to score goals. That might be the cure for Winnipeg's ills. The Jets will be playing their fourth game in six days, and the 'under' is 7-2-1 in their past 10 in the fourth game in a 4-in-6 situation. The 'over' streak will be put to the test.

Hurricane Warning
The Carolina Hurricanes have been unbelievable at home in recent weeks, going 14-1-1 in their past 16 games at PNC Arena in Raleigh. The only setback in regulation came against the New Jersey Devils back on Jan. 3. They also cooled off the Columbus Blue Jackets by a 5-3 score on Jan. 10, and they'll look for another win against the Jackets on Tuesday in Ohio. The Canes will have a big measuring stick game Friday night against the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins, and the arena is expected to sold out, or near sold out, reminding diehard Hurricanes fans of the halycon days when they routinely made the playoffs and challenged for Lord Stanley's grail.

Looking Ahead

Friday, Jan. 20
The Predators will do the Alberta two-step, heading up Route 2 for a Friday night game in the provincial capital. The Oilers haven't been very slick against the Preds lately, losing six consecutive meetings. While Edmonton has displayed a promising young offense this season, they have averaged just 1.0 goals per game in the past six encounters with the Preds, outscored 17-6 during the span. The 'under' is 3-0-3 in the past six in this series.

Preview: Penguins (28-11) at Hurricanes (21-16)

Date: January 20, 2017 7:00 PM EDT

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Carolina Hurricanes will want to impress their fathers when they play the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night.

The visiting Penguins will want to put another impressive performance on their portfolio prior to the All-Star break.

The teams meet at PNC Arena, where many fathers of Carolina players and staff will be on hand for an annual gathering. They'll also accompany the team to Saturday night's game at Columbus.

But the first order of business for the Hurricanes comes against Pittsburgh.

Hurricanes coach Bill Peters said the focus should be on the game even with the associated activities.

"Stay true to your routine that works and don't deviate," he said. "You concentrate on the task at hand."

The Penguins are coming off their first road victory of 2017 by defeating Montreal 4-1 on Wednesday night. They've won two games in a row, realizing despite a wild game that included 15 goals (an 8-7 victory against Washington) earlier in the week that defense must be emphasized.

"It's the hard defensive two-way posture that really puts us over the top," Penguins defenseman Ian Cole said.

Yet the Penguins realize that the way they produce offensively can create problems for opponents.

"If you're going to become a real competitive team, you have to have the ability to generate offense in different ways," Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan said. "I also think it's how you control momentum, how you control territory."

That's something the Hurricanes are aware of.

"They check real well and they don't give up much," Peters said. "They've got speed throughout their lineup on all four lines. They're not afraid to check for their chances and they're very, very deep."

This will mark the second of four meetings this season between the teams. The Penguins won 3-2 at home on Dec. 28.

The Hurricanes hold a four-game home-ice winning streak and they're 14-1-1 in their last 16 home games.

After an idle day following Tuesday night's loss at Columbus, Peters was encouraged.

"The guys were energized after a day off," he said.

Carolina will try to keep the Penguins off power plays. The Hurricanes are averaging a league-low 6:00 penalty minutes per game and they didn't take a penalty in last month's game at Pittsburgh.

Carolina is expected to go with Cam Ward for his 21st consecutive start in net. His backup will be Michael Leighton, who was recalled from Charlotte of the American Hockey League on Thursday after Alex Nedeljkovic made his NHL debut in relief of Ward on Tuesday night.

Peters said he likes how Ward is handling the workload.

"He's fine," Peters said. "We need to play better in front of him, limit the quality of the shots. We were a step behind on a lot of those plays."

Penguins center Matt Cullen, a former Carolina player, sat out Wednesday's game in Montreal with a foot injury that could have him out of the lineup for a month. That was the first game he missed with the injury.

However, Penguins center Sidney Crosby is 12 away from 1,000 career points.

Preview: Blackhawks (28-14) at Bruins (23-19)

Date: January 20, 2017 7:00 PM EDT

BOSTON -- The talk shows are filled with the chatter. Social media is filled with tweets. Is Claude Julien about to lose his job coaching the Boston Bruins?

The Bruins, fresh off a hard-to-swallow 6-5 shootout loss in a game that saw them lead 3-0 and 4-1, host the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night. But the off-day, with the team off the ice, was reportedly a day for meetings. The brass is trying to find answers for a team mired in mediocrity.

This isn't the first time the public has called for a Julien firing. Even in 2011, when the team eventually went on to win the Stanley Cup, there was talk he had lost control of his players.

The talk was heavy after last year's second straight season of not making the playoffs, but he survived that -- and is now coaching a team that has had trouble scoring and had even more trouble winning at home, where the Bruins take a 10-11 record into Friday night's game.

The Bruins (23-19-6) scored five goals Wednesday night in Detroit and all it got them was one point in the standings.

"We collapsed," said Julien. "It's pretty obvious. It's one of those games. We didn't get the save when we needed it, and we made some mistakes, which gave them some chances, so a lot of things went wrong tonight after we took that lead."

Now they have to deal with the Blackhawks, who won the Stanley Cup at TD Garden in 2013 and who come in with an 11-9-1 road record this season. It continues a stretch that includes two games against the Pittsburgh Penguins and a return match with Detroit.

"Yeah, it's not going to get easier," said Tuukka Rask, who allowed five goals on 26 shots. "This is probably the biggest couple of weeks in our season coming up, really good teams against us. We'll have to play some good hockey."

The Blackhawks have lost two of their last three, but won five of their last seven. Prior to last night's Minnesota game against Arizona, they were tied with the Wild for first place in the Central Division but had played four more games than Minnesota.

Corey Crawford, who has started the last five games in the Chicago net, won't start in Boston, where Scott Darling gets the nod -- coach Joel Quenneville saying after Thursday's practice in Boston he wanted everyone to get a chance to play on the team's dad's trip.

And Crawford has been struggling.

"We feel very comfortable that he'll be able to get back and be confident and doing his thing," Quenneville said of Crawford, a 6-4 winner at Colorado Tuesday night. "You look around the league over the last week or two, it's amazing the (high) scores."

Darling stopped 39 of 40 shots in his last start, a 2-1 home win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Darling is 2-1 with a 3.40 goals against average and .905 save percent in his career against Boston; while Rask is 3-1-1 with a 2.36 average, a .920 percentage and a shutout against the Blackhawks.

Preview: Red Wings (20-19) at Sabres (17-18)

Date: January 20, 2017 7:00 PM EDT

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Detroit Red Wings are flying high after one of their most memorable victories of the season.

On Wednesday, Detroit overcame a pair of three-goal deficits on their way to a 6-5 shootout win on the road over the Boston Bruins. The victory gave Detroit its third straight win after a difficult stretch to open 2017.

Detroit looks to carry that momentum into Buffalo against the Sabres on Friday.

"When you are down 4-1 after the first, to come back is not easy in this league. So that says a lot about our guys," Detroit coach Jeff Blashill told the Detroit Free Press. "Now, our first was not good. We can't spot teams those kinds of periods. I think our guys know that. We can't see another one of those for a long, long time, like next year."

Left winger Tomas Tatar had a goal and two assists while Thomas Vanek and Frans Nielsen scored in the shootout Wednesday.

"We are finding ways to win," Detroit center Dylan Larkin told the Free Press. "This stretch before the All-Star break is important so we can go in and feel good about ourselves and come back and make a hard push and get into the playoffs."

The victory capped a productive three-game homestand for the Red Wings. Detroit picked up a 1-0 win over Montreal on Monday and a 6-3 triumph over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.

Henrik Zetterberg and ex-Sabre Vanek are tied for the team lead in points for Detroit with 31 (despite Vanek playing 11 fewer games because of injury). Nielsen is third in points with 25 (nine goals).

In Buffalo, all eyes are on goaltender Robin Lehner after a nightmare of an evening against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday. Lehner was pulled after allowing three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second period.

Lehner stormed off the ice and was seen yelling at Sabres coach Dan Bylsma. This also came after he posed for a picture for a fan sitting near the Sabres bench earlier in the night, which went viral and drew criticism.

"I take responsibility," Lehner told The Buffalo News. "I don't want to do the whole sequence of things that they built up to the little half-Hollywood movie that they clipped together. I understand where it's coming from. It's all entertainment to them but it's a real-life reaction for me and I accept the responsibility of it.

"I got mad and yeah, I let in three goals in 10 minutes. Our team didn't play the way we wanted. I let in a bad one. I wanted to stay in. I'm a competitive guy."

Lehner is having a solid season with 2.54 goals-against-average and a save percentage of .920.

Preview: Canadiens (27-13) at Devils (19-18)

Date: January 20, 2017 7:30 PM EDT

Have the New Jersey Devils turned a corner? Have they finally righted a ship that appeared to be sinking after a hot first month of the season?

The Devils return home to face the Atlantic-leading Montreal Canadiens on Friday night after a 3-0-1 road trip that included victories over Calgary, Vancouver and the Minnesota Wild, who lead the Western Conference with 61 points.

After starting 9-3-3, the Devils were 7-15-5 before their four-game road trip they hope is a sign of positive things to come.

"It was important going into the road trip that, as we said coming into it, we get some real quality back into our game and find a way to get wins and points and play better and we've been able to do that," Devils coach John Hynes said to The Record after the Wild victory. "We knew, coming in, it was going to be a difficult game. One of the things we talked about was having some staying power. Our goal coming in was to be much more competitive in these types of games where you're playing a team like the Wild that has had a lot of success."

Perhaps the most impressive part of the trip is the fact that all four games (and six straight total) were played without top defenseman Andy Greene. The Devils have been off since playing Tuesday so perhaps the extra rest will be enough to Greene and his injured hand back in the lineup.

"It's the bottom arm there," Greene told The Record. "There's so much pressure trying to pass it or shoot it. It's getting better but it's not there yet. I am impatient but, at the same time, I can't function out there. Maybe when it gets a little bit closer and I can really start to do everything, it might be a little more tough. There's nothing to do about it but try and get better."

There's never a good time to face Carey Price, but this would have been the best time for the Devils to see one of the NHL's top goaltenders.

Perhaps unfortunately for the Devils, the Canadiens will go with backup goaltender Al Montoya in New Jersey.

Price, who won the Vezina Trophy and Hart Trophy two years ago, has allowed 20 goals in his past five starts and since Dec. 1 his save percentage is .893; Montoya has won three straight starts -- all on the road -- with a not great but respectable .911 save percentage over that time.

With three losses in four games and just one goal over the last two, coach Michel Therrien isn't just making a change in goal -- he's making moves throughout his lineup.

He dropped center Alex Galchenyuk from the top line at practice Thursday and rearranged his defense pairings.

"I don't like the fact that we don't generate much offensively, so you have to make adjustments," Therrien said to the Montreal Gazette.

"We tried to make adjustments (during Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Penguins). Obviously, it didn't work like we were expecting with the new pairing with our two bottom pairing defensemen. But we can't forget we got success in the past when those guys played together as a team. We were hoping for better results yesterday. We didn't get the result so we're going to go back where we were."

"No excuses, we've just got to find a way," Canadiens defenseman Shea Weber said to the Montreal Gazette. "We don't have many games left here before the (All-Star) break. So we got to find a way to dig in and get it in and then guys can relax for a little bit after that."

Preview: Predators (21-17) at Oilers (25-15)

Date: January 20, 2017 9:00 PM EDT

EDMONTON, Alberta -- Oilers goalie Cam Talbot is the definition of a workhorse. He has appeared in 42 of the team's 47 games this year. He started Edmonton's past five games, winning the past four.

The Oilers host the Nashville Predators on Friday, then visit the Calgary Flames on Saturday, wrapping up an eight-day period in which they play five games. Will Talbot start both, or will Laurent Brossoit, called up last week from the Oilers' AHL affiliate in Bakersfield, Calif., finally get a chance to play in an NHL game this season?

Coach Todd McLellan didn't make any announcements Thursday.

"We have two goaltenders, our goal is to win games, and that's what we're doing," McLellan said. "We're not in the development phase right now, as far as goaltenders go. We'll talk as a staff after the (Friday) morning skate, we'll see how both of them felt, consult with Dustin (Schwartz, the goaltending coach) on where they're at, and we'll know (in the) morning who's starting."

Brossoit lost to the Predators in one of his five NHL games last season.

Talbot was the backup to Henrik Lundqvist with the New York Rangers before he came to the Oilers ahead of the 2015-16 season. When he backed up one of the league's top goalies, he knew he wasn't going to see a lot of game action, so he spent a lot of extra time working in practice -- and he said that has helped prepare him to be the most-utilized goalie in the NHL this year.

"You gain that endurance, and hopefully one day you'll need it," he said. "I've been able to use that tool this year, it's been a combination of trying to manage my workload on and off the ice."'

The Oilers are on a four-game win streak, but three of those victories came in overtime or a shootout. Edmonton beat the Florida Panthers 4-3 Wednesday, as NHL leading scorer Connor McDavid scored the winner with just 2.6 seconds left in overtime.

The Predators started backup goalie Juuse Saros on Thursday in a 4-3 win over the Flames at Calgary, so look for workhorse Pekka Rinne to get the call in goal Friday in Edmonton.

James Neal broke an eight-game scoreless skid with a goal against Calgary on Thursday. Neal now has 15 goals of the season -- but he recorded a hat trick in Edmonton on March 14, 2016.

The Predators will play the fourth of a five-game road trip in Edmonton, and they won two of the first three.

"We're moving forward," Nashville right winger Craig Smith said. "We're going in the right direction. That's all you can really ask for right now. We've got a good feeling, and we want to keep the positivity. We've got a lot of different guys scoring, so that's huge, too.

"It's going to be exciting in that new rink (Edmonton's Rogers Place). I haven't seen it yet. They're a pretty quick team, but we've got a quick team in here. We're excited to get up there and keep going."

Nashville defenseman Ryan Ellis said the Predators know McDavid and speedy winger Leon Draisaitl (17 goals), will present problems.

"They're a highly skilled team," Ellis said. "They've got McDavid and Draisaitl, guys that can make plays, so we'll get as much rest as we can."

Oilers left winger Jujhar Khaira, who left the Wednesday win over Florida with an upper-body injury, saw a doctor on Thursday. McLellan said that Khaira is definitely out of the lineup for Friday's date with the Predators. The Oilers called up center Anton Lander from Bakersfield to fill the vacant roster spot.

The Predators were not only active on the ice in Calgary on Thursday night, but the team's front office was active, as well. Nashville acquired defenseman Andrew O'Brien from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Swedish right winger Max Gortz. O'Brien is an AHL veteran, with 135 games played at that level.

Preview: Panthers (20-18) at Canucks (21-19)

Date: January 20, 2017 10:00 PM EDT

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Henrik Sedin often downplays his many accomplishments, but he does cherish one.

While many NHL players play for several clubs, the 36-year-old Swede played his entire career with the Vancouver Canucks.

So on Friday, he hopes to record his 1,000th NHL point on home ice as the Canucks (21-19-6) host the Florida Panthers (20-18-9) at Rogers Arena.

Friday's game serves as a home-game deadline for the milestone. After that contest, the Canucks head out for a three-game road trip.

"It would be a big deal for me to get it at home," said Sedin, who needs one more point to reach the milestone. "It's a special place to play. To get it here, maybe, on Friday would be big."

Sedin has a chance to achieve the feat against former Canucks teammate Roberto Luongo, who has expressed a willingness to concede a point to Sedin as long as the Panthers win.

"It'd be nice, not because it's against Roberto, but it'd be nice getting it on home ice," Canucks winger Alex Burrows said. "We're going on the road there afterward, so it'd be nice to get it over with and, hopefully, get the recognition from the fans and get a nice ovation. He's such a big part of our team on and off the ice."

Henrik Sedin has 232 goals and 767 assists in 1,212 career games with Vancouver. He captured an NHL scoring title in 2009-10 with 112 points and also garnered league most valuable player honors that season. He also helped his brother win a scoring championship the following season.

Burrows is especially impressed with both Sedins' ability to handle adversity. Henrik Sedin played 689 consecutive games before a rib injury ended the streak two years ago Friday.

"Every team that plays against us, they talk about playing the Sedins (physically), playing them hard down low off face-offs, giving them the extra shots," Burrows said. "They get tough matchups. It's not like they've been wrapped in bubble and they haven't suffered any injuries.

Henrik Sedin has 10 goals and 19 assists this season. He reached 999 points by scoring Vancouver's goal in a 1-0 victory over Nashville on Tuesday night. Canucks coach Willie Desjardins also hopes that the Vancouver captain achieves his milestone at Rogers Arena, but suggested the center should not think too much about that wish.

"The point will come," Desjardins said. "It's just: When will it come? He's gonna play, he's gonna get his point, but it is a great accomplishment.

"The (Vancouver) fans deserve it, and he deserves (to get) it in front of family and that, too, so it'll be great for him to get there. But it's like anything. If you start pressing, then it doesn't come and you just have to play."

The Canucks are seeking their second straight victory, but have only one win in their past five games. The Panthers lost two straight after dropping a 4-3 overtime decision to the Oilers in Edmonton on a controversial goal by Connor McDavid. Although goalie James Reimer caught the puck, his globe was ruled to be over the goal line.

While the Panthers try to prevent Henrik Sedin from making history, the Canucks are out to ensure that they control Florida legend Jaromir Jagr, 44, who sits second in NHL all-time scoring with 1,896 points. Although Jagr's production is not where it used to be during his glory days with the Pittsburgh Penguins, he ranks third in Florida team scoring with eight goals and 20 assists.

"He's a pretty special player, a special human being, to be able to be at that age and still be effective," said Burrows.

"I think he works harder at his game now, probably, than when he was young," said Desjardins.

Earlier Thursday, the Canucks moved a young player a step closer to his NHL debut by promoting 21-year-old defenceman Jordan Subban, the youngest brother of Nashville Predators star defenseman P.K. Subban, from Utica of the AHL. Jordan Subban has nine goals and 13 assists in 34 games with Utica and has been selected to play in the AHL All-star Game.

"He's played well down there," Desjardins said. "He works hard and he plays hard and deserves a chance to come up."

While promoting Subban, the Canucks demoted defenseman Andrey Pedan, who would have had to clear waivers if he was not sent down after Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Canucks will need to respect Florida's recent strong road play. The Panthers won four of their last six games away from the Sunshine State.

"They've got a few injuries right now, but they're still playing well," said Burrows. "(Luongo) is gonna play well. You know he's gonna want to win the game. They're fighting for a playoff spot, so they're gonna be battling hard (Friday)."

The Panthers are missing key forwards Aleksander Barkov, Nick Bjugstad and Jonathan Huberdeau because of injuries. Coach Tom Rowe has not out the possibility of Barkov and Huberdeau being gone for the rest of the season. Huberdeau has not played at all this season after suffering an Achilles tendon injury that required surgery during the preseason.

"We're moving forward and playing with the guys we have," Rowe told the Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Luongo will not have his usual backup, because Reimer has returned to South Florida, where his wife is due to give birth. Reto Berra was recalled from Springfield of the AHL to back up Luongo for the final two games of a road trip that concludes Monday against Arizona.

Grand Salami - January

The Grand Salami in pro hockey is decided by adding up all the goals scored in every game scheduled for that particular day. You can wager on 'over' or 'under' the Grand Salami total. The total is set by adding up all listed 'over/under' odds for each game on that particular day.

Note: The Grand Salami will have no action if any game is suspended or cancelled before the regulation time of three twenty minute periods. Also, regardless of the number of goals scored during the shoot out portion of the overtime, the final scored recorded for the game will give the winning team on more goal than its opponent based on the score at the end of regulation time.

*The majority of sportsbooks do not put out a total on the Grand Salami when there is only one game on the card. For tracking purposes, we will continue to show the 'over/under' for goals and combined goals scored on days with just one game.
