I would say this is a typical sentence for a situation that appears to be a mistake no matter how dumb. Either way she deserves time. I'm fine with it and would be fine with 25. But you need proof this is intentional for a straight murder charge and longer sentence. It is that simple. This is pretty standard. There are reasons there are different kind of charges for killing someone. But a mistake as a citizen is not an excuse to not be held accountable

Really comes down to the facts - and one of the parties aint talking - if the prosecution could show one inkling of motive I would never believe anything she said - i.e., she hated the neighbor, they had bad history, etc. - but on it's face, I cannot accept that she went to the other apartment hoping the door was open and ready to shoot someone dead - why would she do this for no reason? I would be inclined to believe her story that it was a mistake

Really not sure how this got tuned into a black and white thing - if she went to her an apartment and there was someone in there - male, female, black or white - they can eat a bullet
