Matchups YTD: 28-25 (+3.90)
- - Plenty of interest and effort and opportunities through 27 weeks, feels profitable after last year's debacle,
but actually lots of toing and froing that keeps coming up short of positive territory.

On a brief trip, I've definitely looked over the leaderboards . . . and posting on my phone, that doesn't happen . . . Danny Willett is not going backwards, with a good chance of moving forward. 200/1 e.w. or so is easily a play.

Saturday:

Tiger has caught absolutely no breaks with the conditions in the draw, has accordingly shown great patience with his approach shots, and has a nice feel for the speed of the greens; he will not be going backwards from T-29 over the weekend . . . The course does favor left to right, which gives Noren a glimmer, gives Reed a beast, and Mickelson is sharper than I expected but not a threat . . . If Jordan Spieth wins playing this far from his best golf, then this time right now is anything but some golden era in the game . . . Danny Willet will still stay sharp, but some strain might show, and a tiny step back might be more likely than a serious push forward . . . If the bet was offered at -120, my strongest play going forward would be Tommy Fleetwood playing the last 36 holes in fewer strokes than Rory McIlroy . . . In the build up to Thursday I started doubting whether the plotters would really have an advantage over the aggressive bombers, but in the final analysis thought it was probably the case, and I think two days have shown it to be mostly true, and will surely be the handiest road to the clubhouse if making a push for the title on Sunday (if Koepka was closer to the lead I would be fearful of a path for him, but I don’t think he’s going to be awesome enough to get the job done from where he sits) . . . At the start of the week I was tempted to make plays on lots of low numbers, but decided that was not worth a commitment, and am very glad I stayed away . . . Yesterday it was an obvious choice for me to add Pat Perez to my team at his huge price; nothing comparable that I like to today, but with a gun to my head and forced to take someone at 80/1 or more, I’d lean toward Webb Simpson at 125/1 or Kyle Stanley at 200/1 or Chris Wood at 500/1 for entertainment purposes . . . I played 8 matchups yesterday, and could have easily added 6 more, and would have been fine in doing so; today I’m struggling to find matchups that jump out to me (would love Woods over Mickelson), but going with these . . .

Molinari(-115) over Day
Willett(-110) over Hoffman
Fleetwood(-110) over McIlroy
Kisner(+140) over Z.Johnson
