Penn St is a good team but no where near the class of the nation. You base your whole opinion off of Oregon St common opponent, and the fact that you are a homer and can't help it. I am a big ten guy (ILLINI fan) but the Big Ten really is that bad. Penn St. doesn't deserve to be considered for a national title game because they play no one. Big Ten doesn't count, they needed to go out and play a top 10 team and win in order to have that right of consideration. Penn St. 10th best team in the nation.

But they will lose to Ohio St. and end all this.

Funny. I love that you say I am an Illini fan so I'm unbiased and no the Big Ten. Those are always my favorite comments. They've destroyed everyone. To say they don't deserve a chance over a one loss SEC team, possibly Florida who lost to a terrible team, or a one loss Pac 10 team, who lost to a team PSU beat, is laughable. PSU has destroyed everyone and that's all they can do.

If you had watched every game they have played this year you'd think differently.

I don't think anyone has won at Wisconsin like that in 20+ years.

You're killing me.....just flat out killing me.

Those are two of the toughest places to play in America. I don't know why that's funny. I guess you have your opinion and I have mine. I can respect that.

So funny. They beat the team that beat USC. They killed them.

They win at Wisconsin and no matter what anyone says that's not easy. Wisconsin fell apart against Michigan and should have had only one loss going into tonight's game. They could have easily beaten OSU and Michigan and been a top 10 team.

They destroyed Wisconsin at home. That never happens. They destroyed Illinois and they destroyed the team that beat USC. This is so funny. No one can give props to them and they may be the best team in America. What does this team have to do to prove shit to anyone? They've
destroyed people.

Florida lost to an awful team. PSU didn't. Sure they beat LSU tonight but why is it that when you lose to an awful team you're better than someone who hasn't lost to anyone but doesn't have a top-10 team win yet? Showing up week in and week out is important. That's what makes a great team. Not just showing up for big games.

PSU and Texas are 1-2.
If Florida or USC should happen to meet either PSU or Texas... I would love to make you a friendly wager with winner takes all and no point spread. Are you game ?

Already said with Red Eye I would. I think people forget how good Paterno is in bowl games. Why are people so in love with USC and Florida. They are overrated. They both have holes. Hell Sanchez looked awful today. Florida's defense is very suspect.

USC is a joke. Must be nice sitting back, having 11 bye weeks on the schedule and watch every other decent team just knock each other off. Who is the 2nd best team in the Pac Zero? Where would they finish in the SEC or Big 12? Tell me either Okl, Tex, TT, Mizzou, Ok St, or Kansas wouldn't finish 2nd in the Pac Crap

The Pac 10 record against the SEC in the 21 century is 10-5 in favor of the Pac 10 ! In bowl games these 2 conferences have only met 7 times with a 3-3-1 record. So much for how much superior the SEC is !

What does that have to do with this year? Pac 10 stinks this year.

Really true this year but so does the pathetic Little 10 also. As usual USC will kick the Little 10's butt if they meet in the Rose Bowl. what was that score again earlier this year ? Oh Yeah USC 35 Ohio state 3 !

ITs basically a 3 team race now between Texas, Penn state and USC.

I could think of about 15 teams off the top of my head that would beat Penn St S/U this year & would win 2 out of 3, 4 out of 7 this season

I agree EGD. Big Paterno fan but Penn Sate is just another 3 loss team in the SEC.

On any given Saturday any team can beat the other blah, blah, blah. As the guy who is propping up Penn St has mentioned USC and Florida both lost to shit teams. I GUARANTEE and will take any and all bets that if Penn St ends the year undefeated they go to the title game. The Big 12 is pretty brutal I doubt any team gets through that undefeated. ALABAMA is a team I haven't seen mentioned but they have a tough road to.

Not sure about that. IMO the SEC has fallen off a bit this year. Florida and Alabama are pretty strong but who else? UGA is HIGHLY overrated even now.

Don't assume an undefeated Big 10 team gets in. Just a few years ago an undefeated SEC team got shutout & no one would have ever thought that would be possible. The Big 10's reputation is quite sour after their dismal performances in the last few title games. Their stock did not do better when they got trounced in the first major game of the year.

Looking at Penn St's schedule, they have played absolutely no one & the teams they did beat are not helping their case. Wisconsin is pretty much out of the running for the Big 10 title & they hurt Penn St when they lost to Michigan. Their only real signature win will turn out to be over Ohio State who is already looked down upon.

Now look at the possible Big 12 or SEC teams like Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU (even after the loss) or teams like Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri (even after the loss), Texas Tech, etc...

Those teams all have to face each other but the thing is most will be highly ranked at the time of the meeting. Lets look at Texas who I feel will lose next week against Missouri. They could lose & imo still have a better shot at getting a title berth over an undefeated Penn St.

For example they have Missouri next week will probably be in the top 10 or just outside of it at game time. Even before that game goes, they already have a more significant win over a #1 than Penn State could say the entire season. This is before they still get a top 10-12 Missouri team, a top 10 TT team, a possible top 10-12 matchup with Oklahoma State & the Big 12 championship game.

The same exercise could be said for the other Big 12 contenders. The same for SEC teams who will have more significant wins. I could even see USC getting in before they do.

Penn State will need help to get to the title game this season. Being undefeated won't cut it for them.

The BCS is a numbers game, not an emotions game. If Penn St ends up undefeated they will be in the title game. Of course the only exception would be if a SEC and big 12 team end up undefeated which simply isn't going to happen.

BTW-Not a chance in hell USC gets in over an undefeated Penn St team. ZERO chance of that. As bad as the Big 10 is the Pac 10 has proven it's even worse this year and USC lost to a conference rival already.

Val - my comment was directed more towards Penn State than where the SEC as a conference is. Make no mistake though, I still think they are the best from top to bottom. As for Penn State I think several SEC teams would match up well with them, including Georgia. I'd take them heads up against Penn State in a heartbeat at a neutral field. Overall you might be right, maybe they have fallen off a bit this year, it's hard for me to tell as they beat up on each other throughout the year. Come title time as we've seen the last few years it's usually all about the SEC if they get in, doubt this year will be any different.

Part of the equation still involves a voting element & the Big 10's stock is considerably down. Most of those same people feel USC is still better than pretty much every team & just slipped up. Perception plays a huge role & with a schedule like Penn State's, they don't deserve a sniff of the title game. A 1 loss SEC & Big 12 team, USC, Boise St or BYU belong in there over Penn State.

If they somehow make it, I will line up hand & fist waiting to bet against them.

I would use the "I live down here and am forced to watch a lot of the games line", but you live down here as well if I remember right. I'd pick Penn St over UGA in a heartbeat. They would absolutely shred UGA's shitty offensive line. UGA has some good skill positions but the offensive line is bad and it ruins a lot. it's why I was so confident Alabama would beat them across the street. Alabama I think is damn good and Florida to. Although Florida don't need to sleep walk against shit teams. They had no bussiness losing that Mississippi game. That was awefull. ANyways, I am saying that some teams that are usually strong like Tennessee, and Auburn aren't this year. That takes away from a couple of teams that are usually towards the top.
