-This was the remaining games from my Early Set.
**Special-TOP RATED PLAY OF THE DAY ON: (4 Units)
Col St -3 (currently Wyoming 7-0 1st Q)
-Col St ranks 2nd in the conf in 3rd down conversion with 44.2%...while Wyoming is ranked second to last in this category, converting just 34% on 3rd downs...St also 3rd in the conf in passing...completing 61.9% of their passess, while only allowing 7 sacks this year (2nd fewest in the MWC)...Wyoming ranked 4th in passing offense but completing just 55.3% of their passes..and the Cowboys QB Bramlet has a 12 to 11 TD to Interception ratio (most ints in the MWC)...while also also being sacked 19 times (2nd most in MWC) so far...Col St, averaging 4.1 ypr and 134.2 yards rushing per game...
Wyoming is ranked last in rushing offense averaging just 3.3 ypr and 110.6 ypg...and this is one reason why their offense overall is ranked 2nd to last in the conf in total offense, averaging just 349.3 ypg...Col St's RB Bell is 2nd in the MWC in rushing yards but first in yards per carry averaging 5.5 yards...Col St's QB Holland also ranked best in QB rating and is completing 64.4% of his passes...Wyomings QB Bramlet second to last in QB ratings and completing just 55.7% of his passes.......Holland also has thrown the most TD passess in the MWC with 14...and he also has one of the nation's best WRs in Anderson to throw it to...Bramlet also has one of the nations best WR's in Bouknight, who leads all playerss with 8 TDs.....
Wyoming and Col St are 1 and 2 in the conf in passing defense...But Col St also has the #1 punter in the conf who avgs 45.5 ypk...while Wyoming's punter is averaging just 38.8 ypk, the 2nd worst in the conf...Col St's run defense is ranked low, and they struggled to stop the run in almost every game...but that was mainly due to facing that run it almost 3/4's of the time...in AF, Minny, Unlv....Wyoming offense, on the other hand, doesnt possess a running game to be afraid about, but the Rams offense does have a solid RB in Bell, who is currently ranked 2nd in the MWC in rushing, averaging 106.7 ypg...and 1st in ypr averaging a solid 5.5 ypr...and last week, Wyoming's defense allowed running back DonTrell Moore to rush for 181 yards and 3 TDs...and NM to gain a total of 237 yards on the ground on 66 carries...
Col St has the threat with Bell to keep pounding it out..while QB Holland and the passing offense, which is second only to BYU in the conference, with an average of 286.8 ypg, ranking 19th in the land,...has Anderson with him to help stretch the field which should open up the rushing lanes alot more....WR Anderson will garner respect from any secondary in the conf as he, despite playing one less game than most of the other talented receivers in the MWC, he stills ranks 2nd in the league with an average of 7 catches per contest and is 3rd in yardage with 87.3 ypg as well...And, he will have help from others like WR Walker..who is coming off a team high 8 catches for 100 yards in the loss at BYU..
Wyoming coming into this one off of two straight Home losses, while Col St coming off a road loss to BYU..but are 3-0 at home this year where they outscored opponents 104 to 61....Col St's offense has to much balance and more studs with QB Holland, RB Bell, and WR Anderson..not to mention also the way better punter, who should keep Wyoming working in long fields all day....Gotta stick with the solid Home team here..
Side Note:
-The Cowboys rushed for just 93 yards on 19 attempts against a New Mexico defense that came into the game allowing an average of 147.2 yards per game rushing.
-PK Deric Yaussi, the preseason all-MWC first team placekicker, missed three field goals including a controversial 42-yarder that would have tied the game, 27-27, with 3:01 left.
-QB Corey Bramlet threw back-to-back interceptions in the fourth quarter to give him 9 turnovers in two games.
-Col St has won 5 of the last 6 games between the two...most currently last season, when they spanked the Cowboys 30-7 at Home as a 3 pt favorite..holding the Cowboys to just 80 yards rushing while pounding out 233 on the ground.
-Lastly, both teams returns 9 on offense and 8 on defense...so theres no reason for me to think that Col St can do it again..especially with a heathy Sr QB this time around.
**TOP RATED PLAYS ON: (3 Units)
Memphis -7 (buy .5pt)
-ECU has the passing game...Memphis has the running game...I take the Tigers at Home with RB Williams, who is ranked 2nd in the land in rushing with 1083..avg 185 ypg, 6.9 ypc, and scored 10 TDs so far this year...In all, the Tigers are avg 273.3 ypg at 5.9 ypc on the ground....ECU has WR Allison who is 13th in the nation in receiving...but only has 5 TDs this year...But, Memphis is 2nd in the conf in Scoring Defense...and they have just beaten Conf Usa 2nd rated passing team in Houston on the Road...Memphis also has the advantage of having the 16th ranked punter in the land, who is averaging 44.4 ypp...
ECU basically wont be able to stop Williams...Why?...Because they couldnt stop anyone else and the Tigers with Williams is ranked 2nd in the nation, while East Carolina is 107th in the the nation, and dead last in Conference USA, against the run....So, a 300 yard game for the Tigers is not far fetched at all...Still, lets just say the Pirates do stop Williams at times...they still could find themselves with bad field position and facing a rested Tiger defense, all due to Williams running giving them the time needed to rest and recover....One add plus for the Tigers offense, even though they are starting their 4th QB in Avery...who btw was their 2nd leading WR before taking over at QB...is that he brings to this offense another threat at running the ball.....Last week, besides throwing for 112 yards and 2 TDs...he also ran the ball 19 times for 105 yards and a TD...This addition will only help the Memphis offense as he will take some of the pressure off of Williams as defenders stack the line committed to stopping him...
QB Avery could be the one that has a big running day tomorrow...One thing though, which I am not worrying of is the lack of a passing game for the Tigers...Why?..Because eventhough there is an absence of a passing attack, the Tigers have still been able to average a solid 29.2 ppg and a put up a total of 407.3 yards average as well...Unreal!...Also, despite the fact that their is no real passing threat to worry about leaving all 11 of the Tigers opponents solely focused on Williams...he still is able to rush for over 1,000 yards, average almost 7 ypr, carry it at least 30 times a game and still put up at least 200 yards in the end...ECU, defense allowing an average of 202 ypg rushing, 4.4 ypc, and 13 TDs...just says Big Day for Mr Williams.
Side Note: The Pirates in their last win benefitted from 3 SMU turnovers in the 4th quarter..two of which came in the final 1:33, helping to secure their 1st road win in 11 tries....Asking for two road wins in back to back weeks..with one of the worst running defenses going up against the 2nd best rush offense in the land...is asking for to much, imo...
Rutgers -3
-Knights only weakness is in their passing defense...but Uconn and new QB a True Freshman making his first ever start, wont be able to exploit it enough, if at all...One reason for this is Rutgers defense brings to this game against him a veteran front 7 and the Big East 2nd ranked run defense...Uconn's strength is in their running game..but that plays right into the strength of this Rutgers defense....and without a passing game to worry about, the Knights will be able to bring up a safety to help with run support which will neutralize the Huskies’ vaunted ground game...They’ll simply load up on the run and say Brown, "I dare you to beat us"...Everyone knows also that this being the kids first start, the Huskies are going to have to cut back the offense to help him out...and this will just force Rutgers to bring and keep bringing the pressure on him forcing him to try to make big plays or to make big mistakes...Its his first experience at the college level...and is going up against a defense and team coming in with alot of momentum and hunger...as they want to end that bowling drought, for sure....Brown better watch out for his backside...as breathing down his neck all game will be Rutgers Ryan Neill, a sure-fire All-Big East defensive end with 16 quarterback hurries, 15 tackles for loss and six sacks ...I am so sure that they will come fully loaded at this QB, especially on obvious passing situations..that I am starting to feel rather psychic...lol...But is their any other way to capitalize on Uconn's situation....And, I dont think that Rutgers will allow their season to be derailed by a true freshman QB...so that means, Kill the QB Time!
Rutgers, will also be starting a Freshman QB...but he is not lacking absolutely no experience, like Uconn's Brown....Teel, led the Knights to a win over Syracuse in the Dome...Now I dont care how shitty the Cuse are this year...Bottom line is that it was in the Dome, where the Cuse becomes something special many times....and, this Cuse teams problems is not their defense, rather their shitty offense...as the defense is a solid one, but just cannot carry all the load for an offense that cant take advantage of what the have given them several times....
The Knights on offense, is alot more better and balanced in passing and in running it with RB Leonard, who is a very solid duo threat at running and receiving...Rutgers also has 4 receivers ranked in the top 10 in the Big East...This teams hungrey to get finally get to a bowl game...and they need to win 3 of their last 5 games to accomplish this..but 3 of their last 5 opponents went to a bowl last season, so they will have to attack when they see blood in the water like it is today.....Rutgers has can score through the air and has a defense that can stop the Huskies ground game...as they have only allowed just 2 TDs all year via the run...
If a Uconn team that lost last week to a poor and depleted Cincy team, where they completed just 44.2% of their pass attempts..what can they expect to do, against a healthy, hungrey, team thats on a roll right now, in Rutgers...And do it with a Freshman QB...and without one of the nations top return man in Taylor...their LB'ers in Sowell, Lansanah, and CB Cole...all who just adds to the list of Huskies already not playing in Center Akers, safety Estep, LB'er Williams, and another Safety McCollum....Like Coach Edsall said..."That's 10 major contributors to our team,"...Not a good situation for Uconn today..
Side Note: Uconn high defensive ranking is more due to facing the easiest schedule in the country...racking up stats against Army, Buffalo, Liberty, Syracuse, and Cincy...
So do you see how their 2nd ranked passing defense in the nation is rather not truthful or accurrate....Who in this list is has a potent passing attack...and the only other team they faced worth anything is GT, but they got smacked by the Yellow Jackets and they are ranked 75th in passing offense...everyone else they faced is way worst than 75th...but Rutgers is alot better, per stats, then GT is in passing and total offense in the nation...Uconn's fucked and they know it...
comp play on: Navy -7
