Because Faith in SOME Thing beyond one's self is as natural, important and inherent part of (Wo)Man as is The Heart, Lungs...Liver, Kidney...any of those things. Yeah, its "Non-Physical" unlike those things or maybe it isn't...could be located within a specific section of the Brain, we've yet to find out most of whats to know about the human brain.
I imagine you'll come back with: "OK, but why is ORGANIZED Religion necessary, Ancient Words that some feel have been Revised along the way, Re-Written or stuff edited out, or Added Onto (such as "God needs Money and He wants you to give that to The Church")....so as to serve the needs of Men ($$$ & Power, Control)"
Cuz Organized Religion is the easiest way....and as Inherent to (Wo)Man is to take the path of least resistance....the easiest way....that path of less Hassle.
In fairness: had Man not stepped all over The Major Religions of the World, twisting those to Serve Himself instead of Life Itself...things would be largely OK here, at the least Less Messed Up. Cuz at The Foundation of all of them was a Path To Lessening The Suffering, that also is "Inherent"....to Physical Existence...within such a Dimension, as Physical Life resides.
We're seeing First Hand what a World Without Faith looks like, lately. Humans about their Own Agendas, Loss of Hope....amongst Many....Treachery. Much Much Better to have a World wherein people have Faith, than not.

a message of peace? he's basically saying he's been a total jerkoff all his life but because he found GOD 90 days ago he will be in Christ's Kingdom forever because he's now an, ahemm, believer. Yet, dudes in their mid-40's that have spent the better part of their days truly being "christian" in nature, helping people, embracing community and making people's lives better should die a fiery painful death in about 48 hours because they don't specifically believe in this one certain tale within their specific religion.
