So the media is simply supposed to pass over this?? No one has ever had a more dominating performance in a weeklong sporting event in the history of the Olympics, arguably the largest sporting event in the World.

Personally, I enjoy the coverage as it will only last for 2 more days at this level. Yes people will continue to talk about Phelps after the Olympics are over, but he will take a backseat to Track & Field in a few days.

Hey welcome to the party, about time, I was getting crushed in this thread, you will probably be called ignorant for your above comments, but I tottally agree with you, swimming just does not do it for me. Im more impressed by the ping pong player with the gold medal.

While it seems that all Phelps all the time may be a tad overkill, what he's doing is historical as far as sports is concerned.
6 events, 6 golds, 6 world reocrds is over the top newsworthy.
Keep in mind, this Phelps-mania will die out after the closing ceremonies.

Ok, I can go along with that. At the very least, it's history in the making. I find it rather boring, but it is historical.

This thread is kind of a coincidence, because just yesterday I was telling a co-worker that on my way to work that morning I was listening to ESPN radio hoping to hear about last night's baseball games, or the upcoming NFL season, or college football.... Nope. All they talked about was Michael Phelps the entire time.

I guess enough people must find it interesting or they wouldn't waste time talking about it, but I sure as hell don't.

I dont care who you are. World Records are not just broken like this race after race unless somehting weird is going on. And the new speedo suits are said to be slicker than human skin. I know people will say, well, they still train, but the suit gives them that added .05 seconds minimum in every race. With these great athletes, that = WR broken constantly.

I don't watch it, but I cant watch womens volleyball or archery for 2 seconds, without hearing about this ***.
