Haha, I don't recall Carson Wentz winning a Super Bowl.

I guess the perfect storm happened. The Eagles got a new coach and Wentz got hurt which allowed Foles to come in and be the hero. So Wentz getting injured actually propelled the team not set them back?

I stand by what I've said previously. Wentz isn't that great.

He was a MVP candidate until he got hurt a week before Christmas. Shut up.

Enfuego won't let this go, next week VD is going to start bumping his "Trump will fall hard" thread :)

My take on Wentz

1) he clearly did NOT set the Eagles back seven years, that argument has been put to bed

2) he's recovering from a serious injury, Brady wasn't Brady in 2009. Gordon Hayward sucked in the NBA this year, it takes time to fully recover

3) he led his team to a pretty good 4th qtr comeback last night, and should have taken the lead back a second time when he hit Agalor in stride for an easy TD that was dropped

4) are we really going to go through this every-time the Eagles lose? C'mon man

Well Willie, I agree, he's better than I thought he would be but let's not pretend like he won them the Super Bowl because he just didn't. Drafting Wentz didn't put them in a hole but I don't think drafting him set them up for long term success either.

So what's my take? He's decent, not a world beater. He's an average NFL QB that given really good parts, he may occasionally take them deep into the playoffs again.

Did he set them back? No
Is he as good as some RX pundits think he is? No
Is he an above average NFL QB? No
Could he make a run in the playoffs? Yes, given the right pieces.

Let me name the guys that are better:

Brady
Roethlisberger
Watson
Mahomes
Rivers
Rodgers
Stafford
Ryan
Brees
Goff
Wilson
Jimmy G

Ok, I'll give you he's #13.

I don't know how you would take Stafford, Ryan, Goff, and Jimmy G over Wentz. I don't really understand Watson either. I think at this point Rivers and big Ben are pretty debatable. Dak should be on your list somewhere

The Eagles probably dont win the Super Bowl without Wentz that year locking up home field advantage in the playoffs. They had to hold off a tough Atlanta team with Foles under center at home in the playoffs in an ugly low scoring game. Not sure they win that game on the road. Who knows, but we cant say Foles puts them in that position

Wetnz was probably the MVP before getting hurt

There isnt a GM in the league who would take Matt Ryan, Stafford, Jimmy G over Wentz

Actually at this point I dont even think this is really debatable. Way more upside than Rivers, and Ben's value is probably on the cusp of really deteriorating after this injury -he was damn good last year though at 67% completion %.

The only guys I'd probably rather have at this very moment than Wentz are probably Mahommes, Brady, Rodgers, Brees, and Wilson. Even then, it's like three of those guys are really old so they wont be up there for much longer. Wentz to me is a clearly a top 10 qb, arguably top 5. Only real concern is can he stay healthy

At least you didn't put Cam Newton and Lamar Jackson on the list like the other guy

You’d possibly make Wentz a top 5 NFL QB? He must really be taking the league by storm huh?

What has Wentz done over his last 20 games to deserve your praise?

Guy came back from a bad injury last year and hit 70% of his passes with 21TD/7 INT after one horrible game against the Saints. No games with other picks

I think hes probably just on outside of top 5, but definitely top 10. Id still go with healthy Brees/Brady/Rodgers, but have to acknowledge theyre old and on the back end of their careers at this point. So Id definitely rather build around Wentz at this point. At pure value in the present though Id still take those three HOFers.

Im pretty high on Russell Wilson, though I think he can occasionally make you pull your hair out. I think hes dealt with some shitty personnel around him, and his ability to improvise and make something out of nothing is amazing.

Mahommes is clearly an all-time great talent. Hes probably the only guy in the NFL Id rather "build around" than Wentz at this point.

One game in the SB for all the marbles, do you start Wentz over Rivers?
