Drafting Carson Wentz will set your NFL team back at least 7 years

In the OP’s defense, I’m a life long season ticket holder and been through it all with this team and I really thought it was a bad deal. Not setting us back forever, just thought they gave up too much in the deal. I knew pretty early on that I was wrong about that, but that was my initial thought after the trade.

this is right up there with the trump thread. franchise set back at least 7 years or literally at its peak after drafting wentz?

What's crazy is I started the thread because I felt Wentz would suck in the NFL. Watched him a lot in college and didn't think his talents would transfer. Then, the Eagles win the Super Bowl without him.

So the premise was the Eagles would suck because of his ineffectiveness but he's actually good and they still win without him. It's weird.

That's what all these guys thought too then he's good and Philli is good so I'm the idiot and they were 100% correct. It's how the RX works.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz was cleared for contact Monday and will start the team's Week 3 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Big setback on Sunday

Quarterback Carson Wentz picked perhaps the game where is performance was most important to have one of the worst games of his career. He said it was frustrating. That was obvious. Wentz was 19 of 33 for 156 yards and three interceptions. His 31.9 passer rating was the lowest of his career by a wide margin.

Supposed MVP level QB's do not have games like that. Wentz is good but has shown he is just another QB in today's game, not special

Seems to me that they step up when they need to....their staff has done a great job of them improving as the season winds down....Saints getting Apple mproved the defense...

No doubt...Looks like a middle of the pack D PLUS that Offense....HARD TO BEAT.

middle of the pack is probably fair. I would say bottom third Let's not get overly hyped on a D that just allowed 500 yards in week 9

They faced Andy Dalton without AJ Green and a terrible eagles team since

I am rooting for Wentz. Comes from a small school. Good family values and a good young kid.

With that said your comment is extremely stupid. Football is a team sport. The quarterback is only one part of the equation. The score of the game also dictates how the game is played. If you fall behind and have to pass then it is allot easier for the defense which seemed to be part of the problem yesterday.

But using your rationale......then a quarterback that threw for a 154 yards and 3 interceptions in a big game like the playoffs and a chance to go to the Superbowl must not be an MVP level quarterback.......see Tom Brady against Baltimore in 2009.....just to name one of numerous poor performances. I think Brady is a great quarterback but even great quarterbacks don't perform great every game.

Yup....Baltimore stormed out to a quick 2 TD lead I believe off of great runs by Ray Rice, then Balty defense pinned their ears back and made life miserable for TB.

9 of 21 123 yards, passer rating of 22.8 and 2 picks both in the red zone .....1 returned for a td ....in the super bowl....big ben.
