Remember this conversation though, because if a year from now it is looking like he is the nominee, "HE IS A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY" is all you're going to hear from the people you say don't believe it.
Of course you're gonna hear it, doesn't mean most people think it

Classic vocal minority/silent majority case

A poll as absurd as "is he a threat to democracy" is obviously going to suffer from massive voluntary response bias

I think you have this right.. the media has its own agenda with all of this. They obviously answer and take a completely different set of orders.

Don't you guys (Bozzie, Avacado, any other left leaning people reading this) actually think so called voter suppression is a threat to democracy?

Or is that just a fear mongering left wing talking point now too?

You must not know many liberals. Congrats on that.

If we're being anecdotal, I know plenty and Trump being a threat to democracy is an opinion they hold. I can't even believe this is a debate to be honest. Did people not follow the midterms or something? That was the main Dem talking point. Just because you think someone holds illiberal beliefs doesn't mean you think they can tear down a system of checks and balances, that's playing fast and loose with the terms.

You're right Pats, I distance myself pretty well from libs, even in a liberal dominated city..

maybe I'm looking at it from a different viewpoint...

I do see the ratings with the CNN's and MSMBC'S of the world dropping quite substantially. Why is that ? maybe they aren't buying all the BS ?

How would Trump change our democracy? Did he change it in his 1st term?

If politicians or judges actually over turned an election i could understand those fears. Nothing happened. He left on the exact day like everyone before him......He put on his little circus act like he always does when he is defeated---nothing more nothing less.

All Trump should have taught people is that anyone with world wide name recognition and a little charisma can be president of the United States.

This debate is getting semantical but the overall point being it is obviously a bit of talking out of both sides of 1's mouth to both portray Trump as this existential evil, worse Prez ever, threat to democracy, yada yada and then be like oh Trump is running again? Sign us up, easy to beat.

Obviously if 1 had conviction about the first part, they wouldn't want him to run. But where AV and I seem to agree is that they're mostly full of it. Trump is just another R/D to them and they want their side to win.

I agree, more bark than bite and end of the day he could barely articulate why he got screwed (whether you think he did or not)

But I don't see how you can say libs don't view him as a unique threat, practically the antichrist. They say it every chance they get.

Some people where saying the same shit about George W.(in regards to democracy)

Dems play this card often. Trump was a bit unique because well Trump was/is a unique person/politician.

It normally plays into abortion from dems and playing this card. Trump was a touch different but not as greatly as he thinks or others believe....It still comes down to "don't allow this guy to be elected or he will change the courts."

Trump managed this(as would ANY republcian president)

Not sure rowe v wade being overturned had the great affect on abortion as Republicans hoped and dems feared. But I am pretty ignorant on this personally so could be wrong.

I don't think it matters.. The Anti abortion, pro assault rifle, MAGA heavy GOP agenda is losing the middle in a big way. What happen in Tennessee today is a perfect example of being completely out of step with voters.

This shit isn't hard to cap.

Trump isn’t a threat to democracy and voter suppression isn’t either anymore?

Damn, is there a lib newsletter saying we’re switching the style up or something?

Agree on abortion, the big thing about abortion that people miss is you can directly vote on it in an immediately actionable way. Most issues aren’t like that. And despite what someone may tell a pollster, if little Lisa gets a little slutty at her first frat party, they want her to be able to X that mistake ASAP. GOP will get wrecked on that being a legislative issue in most purple states. And most people understand it’s the best eugenics we got.

Has there been a republican president/nominee that hasn't been a so called threat to democracy.

I believe even Mittens Romney was held in this same regard when he ran...

Trump winning the nomination again won't be anywhere near as large or note worthy as the 1st time. It's like rebooting a hit show 20 years later. Yawn.

If he wins nomination dems will win WH once again.(imo)

Favorite was Biden saying " if you don't vote for me, you are against democracy" LOL. I think North Korea has 2 guys on the ballot too. I am sure if you vote for the other guy, you are good

"Trump isn’t a threat to democracy and voter suppression isn’t either anymore?"

No.. bring it/him on..this was what I'd hope would happen...I love the GOP these days.
Might be the topmost moments coming up if you're a fan of watching the self destruction of a party.

In a fair election, weak ass Biden who doesn't know the day would get stomped by Trump

This is why liberals should be stuck paying for inflation before their final resting place in the New Mexico desert.
