Is that where the money is going ? his defense ? Not that it matters to me either way , but thought it was for his campaign.
Thats what I read. That the money was earmarked for his defense.

I mean you'll get the occasional "Not Trump again", "Why won't he just go away" dialogue. But in general a lot feel that he's damaged goods.

The moderates would consider voting for DeSantis even given the unpopularity of Biden. Trump? Nah
This....Moderates and independents would cross over for Ronnie ..it's a loud minority in the GOP behind trump, I suspect a good amount of the GOP membership would rather have him go away than give him the chance to fuk the party over again with a MAGA heavy themed election.
Only thing that could bring this to a "10" would be a Lake or MGT on the ticket as the Vice President.

can't imagine needing that kind of money to defend a bookkeeping charge
I mean he is being indicted on 30 some charges that if found guilty on most will mean he spends the rest of his life in prison. Its serious.

Not sure what multiple top flight defense attorneys run....

I agree Generic Republican X is more electable than Trump, that wasn't the discussion though (I don't think it is a given that DeSantis has widespread appeal either, who knows? he's untested at the national level obviously, it is so early...Dude could implode like Kamala or Rubio in a debate...We don't know)

19 months is a long time though, a little bank failure here, some layoffs there, a spiking UE, inflation stays high, a quagmire war going on too long, enough of people in WI/PA having their kids tell them I wanna cut off my tits, maybe your cousin gets fucked up by some inner city crime wave...

before ya know it ya man Teflon Donny T the GOAT God amongst men is back wearin the stripes and we're all saying its his world and we just live in it.

Oh it’s just politics and he’s fine really? Not a remotely unique or existential threat

Do you honestly believe if he gets the nomination that the majority of democrats will really feel the way you are saying they feel right now?

cmon, of course not

there was a poll before the midterms that said like 90% of Dems think the MAGA movement is a threat to democracy, maybe I’ll go looking for it
?

Do I believe most Democrats will feel he's not a threat to democracy? Yeah, of course. Most people can't stand him because of the dumb shit he says, how he talks, and that he's clearly an under-qualified ego-manic.

Most reasonable people know a president can't "ruin democracy", whatever that means lol

A man that will be 80 by the time he starts that non-consecutive 2nd term is a threat to no one.

Media should lay off the old man. He will lose his marbles during that term. Like I said George Steinbreiner break is coming....

So yes I agree with you.

I'd personally drop the tranny fear mongering and cultural war issues ...The party hasn't done shit since it took the house... besides investigations.

no....it's a pretty weak white collar crime case in reality..I'm surprised they brought it at all.

yeah, this is wrong. Most democrats think he is a threat to democracy obviously. Especially after not accepting election results and Jan 6th. This was the #1 message the Dems ran on in the primary (along with abortion I guess)

Saying threat vs ruin is playing fast with words, but whatever.

Remember this conversation though, because if a year from now it is looking like he is the nominee, "HE IS A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY" is all you're going to hear from the people you say don't believe it.

Tomtato tomato

Just saying, people have a way of handicapping the race as if it were to take place May 4th 2023, not Nov 4th 2024. But if ol boy wins the nominationa and is heads up, he's pretty damn live even if a dog.

He's not going to get convicted of this nonsense, let alone spend a day in prison..

If Trump was a threat to democracy he would be president right now...

He had a HUGE microphone for his belly aching. That was about it. The capital riot just made me laugh of how stupid a select minority fraction of this country are....

In the end he left like everyone else that ever lost an election in modern times in this country.

I'll say it was funny that some books still had Trump as a 10 to 1 dog the day after he already lost the election. Made around another $750 betting biden at like 1 to 20-25 that day.

Where have I heard that before? That phrase fell so hard people had to make up something called "Russiagate", remember that? crazy times

We'll see, no opinion on the horse race yet. Too far out.

GM/McD/Google all announced layoffs in the last week, bank failures last month, inflation going nowhere, fuel costs going up....You tip into recession and someone off this board might be able to get elected with an R next to their name.

The house doing nothing is better than what has happened in the house with the previous two years.. Doing nothing means less money getting laundered to Ukraine. That would be a plus

It's an easy message to echo in the media to fear monger, but no I don't think that's right

I interact with mostly Dems and I don't know a single one that actually thought he was a threat because of January 6, or that he's a threat to "destroy the country" in general. The whole thing was just a ridiculous, but you think we thought that something consequential was gonna actually develop from that, other than some psychotic assholes from bumble-fuck West Virginia getting prison time? Come on lol
