Drunk is right deleting the threads was wrong. The problem is GJ using a thread started by a competitor to shill their own product. The bad blood between the two competitors is obvious, unfortunately the losers are the posters and lurkers here at the Rx. What was a thread about a free trial turned into a bash of Don Best, The Rx., it's management, and moderators thread. Was deleting the posts by GJ Mike wrong yes, but it is over with. Hopefully we have learned from it and can move on

Wil, you did the liberty of putting my posts up, and showing them. That was the right thing to do, and shows that you respect your members. What it also shows was that I never once said anything bad about DB. I stayed professional as possible. I was merely adding relevant information to a topic started here. Sure it adds publicity to our service, because you have many people visit your forums.

We have no problems with DB... We just had a product that your users would most likely be interested. We offer a great product at less than half the price. Let your readers judge for themselves. Should be no problem now that Don Best has openly said they dont mind our posts... Right?

Mike, I think you should come up with a REAL IMPORTANT meeting in Las Vegas to plan how help the player by charging them for insurance on their betting account instead of breaking communism in the industry. Lots of sharp guys around here.

Lou, you've hit the nail on the head man... My hands are literally tied. We go through this dance all the time. The books come up, they get pressure to come down. Our product is growing daily. I invite anyone to come look at it. The value is unbelievable. The players are asking us everyday for more casinos, many of them asks the books too... until the books take back control of their lines, or once DB makes good on their statement that they welcome competition, my hands are tied. The books are coming, (we are up to 25 with more being programmed as I type) The users and traffic is there... The rest is up to you guys...

Mike if your product is so great (I quote), why the need for posting in this thread? Why not put together a promotion of your own, and propose it to Rx. management? I have to believe any proposal will get fairly evaluated and depending upon approval, be welcomed here in the Offshore forum also. To invade a competitor's thread, and outright shill is quite frankly (imho) bush league.

Wil, ask the admin that same question. Besides, I thought I did this in a professional manner. I didnt go through the route that some woudl take and hire shills to degrade any products, or promote anything. I Just let your users know that there are other options out there. It honestly believe it adds to your boards. The whole idea of message boards is to gain knowledge... I was helping in that goal.

As Shrink mentioned, which I was not aware of, a promotion package was put together, is in place on other websites... but their answer was that DB would not allow it. I dropped it, I appologized, I wasnt even looking at this anymore. I just dont believe Rick's post was the truth. I really would rather not have to explain anything anymore

Wil,
I know this might be hard to understand with your eyes being blocked while your head is up their ass, but no matter what bells and whistle GJ provide, their product will be inferior without the support of the books. The books need to make a stand also, but they won't do it as long the players smile with DB's dick up their ass and say 'if your product is so good why....? '

I do not think I would have been upset or shocked had the thread been simply modified with the reasoning...(Like Usually Happens...)

SS, no need to apologize to me. You had it right yesterday. In fact your analogy was perfect. I dont remember it perfectly, but it was something if one book allowed a certain type of line, another book should be able to add to that information and say they offer the same line. That is what protects the players. Its like an old saying, you cant put all your eggs in one basket. If other line services were totally shut out, then DB could do what they watned with the lines. Same if we had all the business. I think there needs to be a few of everything... Dont believe me? How ****ed up is Sprint phone company? I am getting off topic. We are here to protect the players, everyone should have that goal in mind...

In looking back, the threads should have been edited with an explanation as to why since I knew why. It was a busy time for me at that moment and I made a call that I question now. An edit with explanation would have been better.

no one expects the mods to be perfect. moderating is a job filled with tough calls. But the more things are "above the board" the better everyone is.

I do not think G&J was right in this situation, but, like some other "wrong" posters in the past, the mods actions made it blow up to more tha it needed to

Would you please add this enhancement? Allow the user a date range for example 06-01-2004 to 06-30-2004, WNBA, click Olympic and then click history. and in this case just display the opening and closing line no line movement. Include the fist half and second half lines.

the issue as to wether GJMike was 'unethical' or slimy by posting his offer in this thread is an interesting one...

I for one am in disagreement with those who are suggesting & with others who are outright claiming that this was an 'unethical' tactic.

Despite of the fact that the thread was an offer by DON BEST for a trial offer...by virtue of this being a FORUM where people exchange IDEAS etc...it also by DEFAULT becomes a 'Discussion' thread on the TOPIC of 'Lines Services'. GKMike stumbled accross the thread...he was not looking to TOUT by starting a thread...BUT HECK... Since there was a thread there already about the TOPIC why not add some info about HIS service to the thread...There should be nothing wrong with that... Sure it works out for him if he gets a few new sign ups, however what's wrong with that?

THIS IS A SERVICE TO RX POSTERS.... I am sure that anyone reading the thread (Other than RX Staff) want to hear about other competitve services aswell...& this is the place to discuss them... In a Thread about Lines Services..

Unfortunately for Posters & Fortunatley for the RX it has develloped into a Business with the several employees on the Payroll.... Greed starts to take over. Unless DB has seriously updated their info system, they are hardly work the money.

Their injury updates are a joke IMO.

I came on this forum MANY MANY times asking who had their premium service and whether or not an injury was listed. I never got a reply from anyone. So either no one uses that service to begin with, or the injuries weren't updated.

I did find one person that had the service, and in Game 6 I asked if they had Malone as in or out, I think it was listed as "doubtful" with some explanantion. Well at that time he was most definately out and the line had indeed moved slightl.

Now this might not seem like a big deal. But in fact it is, because the whole premise of this service is to get the info first hand to take advantage BEFORE the line moves right?

Well it has happened way too many times to be a coincidence.

Besides in my opinion the only time you really need to know a line move before it happens is in bases where you can actually take advantage of it in real odds, not some more often than not worthless half point. But that is another argment for another time.

The whole point is that unless they have updated since oh, the NBA Finals they still aren't giving what they advertise. And from what I have experienced here no one uses their premium service in this forum anyways.

While I did agree and acknowledged an edit would have been sufficient in the original post, please read what I said earlier.

G&J contacted me several days earlier asking if they could post their promo here and I got with management, who said no because of the affiliation with DB.

I relayed this message to G&J and they said no problem, we understand. And then Mike came in with it anyhow. Whether he got the word or not I don't know, thus I think maybe a little miscommunication.

Like a tout, an attempt to sell an atari, or an attempt to shill for a book, Site Promo is always open for those uses.

I use G&J myself, but there was an agreement in advance. A binding verbal contract of sorts.

It's history, but this is not a case of The Evil Rx Empire.
