Maybe I would like to give the braintrust a chance to see what their Google and Stupidepia searches turn up.

And maybe you should be a little more specific.
Just to humour you I googled "Jim Owen"+Obama+Caterpillar. 31,500 results, in the first pages all about the recent remarks, and I'm most certainly not going to check all 31,500.

If there is anything you think we should know then just tell us, or otherwise just shut up. This is very much like the first encounter we had. I don't remember what exactly it was about but you made some assertion which I chose to doubt. I asked you to back it up but you just told me to "google it". I even did, turned up empty but you still could not be prevailed upon elaborating on the subject. Where I live this is not the way to conduct a sensible debate.

Where I live you educate yourself FIRST, then speak up. Otherwise you sit with your mouth closed on the sidelines reading and learning. You're not educated on Caterpillar. Educate yourself. Don't ask ME to educate you, YOU educate YOU! That is sensible.

No, this is total nonsense, at least the way you use it. Nothing against self-education, but when I have an opinion about something and you disagree with that opinion because you believe I haven't factored in everything relevant then it is up to you to tell me what I missed, otherwise I'm free to stick to my opinion and choose to believe that those other factors you hint at don't really exist, especially if I even did a quick check and came up empty.

But I have to admit that your arguing technique has its advantages. You just assert that somebody is wrong but refuse to back up your assertion, simply challenging the other person to "educate himself". This way you never get into a position to risk having your arguments proven wrong, eh?
It must be this mindset of yours that has led to your expressly confirming to me in another discussion that you think it perfectly alright to ridicule another's point of view and call him names even if you are totally unable to present even the tiniest piece of argument against his position, as long as you believe it to be wrong.

Your lack of knowledge is not my problem, it's yours.

I was told I HAVE MY BLINDERS ON, ok? But NOW we are seeing who REALLY has their blinders on, don't we? But go ahead and twist it up so that it becomes my fault, too. It's what you do best.

Correction: What we have here is just an assertion from you that my knowledge is lacking, and as you steadfastly refuse to back up this assertion it is most certainly not my problem. :)

In what respect is this remark relevant to our discussion?

These are not assertions. You, yourself, have proven it's lacking, whether you realize it or not.

You know exactly what I'm talking about, and if you don't you're less astute than even you happily make yourself out to be.

I got 10am tee times, see you at 4 or so, maybe you'll learn something relevant between now and then, but all I expect is more drivel on why me not educating you is my fault. Have at it, champ!

This guy has no business being the President. He would probably make a good mayor. Small town.

Why can you people never see anything objectively?
This is another excerpt from the same article:

So the new jobs will not come immediately, it may take a year. Is that a reason to trash the stimulus package and call Obama a liar?

I'm not in a position to really judge whether the stimulus bill is good and necessary but I do see that most of the arguments in this forum that are against it simply are not thought through.
New jobs for who? They Import (legal) labor into this country at the rate of 2-1/2 MILLION every 2 years.. www.numberssa.com/video & remember these laborers reproduce & are going to add to the SSI burden later on.

No, I do not know what you are talking about, actually I don't care about Caterpillar and also not about Obama except that I'm glad he won because I didn't want to see Bush-like american foreign policy for another four years, so any special happenings between them might well have escaped me.
My whole point was that it makes no sense to act like the Caterpillar CEO said he will lay off workers despite the stimulus package (like the first posts in this thread did) when what he actually said is that Caterpillar will feel the positive effects of the stimulus bill only after a year and it might be necessary to even lay off more workers until that time arrives and workers can be re-hired, which is obviously quite a different statement.
Show me what I missed and I'll be the first to admit it. But if you cannot (and the fact that you made six posts without any sensible explanation seems to imply that you don't) then just shut up with you "educate yourself"-nonsense.

Because I've never been to Germany, and can't for the life of me figure why the US military is over there, or what they're defending.

What you're looking at there is one of the most socialistic government MakeWork programs in the history of the USA

Plus all the workers involved receive free food, housing and government paid health insurance on your and my tax dollar

Raise a glass to Government Programs!

You want me to take time out of my day to explain things to you about a company you don't care about just because you missed it?

Figure yourself out first. If you care, learn; if you don't, move on.

No, I want you to explain it to me because you hinted that I'm wrong. You cannot just assert that somebody is wrong and then refuse to show why that should be the case. If you don't understand that then I'm afraid you are beyond help.
Btw implying that it's not worth your time to explain to me what you mean is nothing but ridiculous seeing how much time you have burned with all your posts in which you refuse to go into details. :)

Yeah, but it's ok for you to do, right? Hypocrite.

If you took 5 minutes to teach yourself instead of 10 minutes whining to others to teach you, you'd probably have made it out of your parent's house by now.

No, it is not. Where did I do such a thing?

Don't worry about me, I'm fine. But unlike you I don't feel the necessity to brag about (true or invented, who could know?) real-life success in an internet forum. ;-)

This place is littered with your unwitting hypocrisy.

Why would I worry about you when you have your mommy and daddy to do that for you? You're fine, but you are in your parent's house, aren't you?

If you need to know, no, I stopped living at my parents' house about 13 years ago and have made my own way since, thanks for asking.

Why don't you write something relevant, for example finally tell us what special connection there is between Obama and Caterpillar. Or just answer my question about where I was hypocritical. If, as you say, this place is littered with my hypocrisy it shouldn't be hard for you to find and explain an example, right?
