I have between 5-10 speeding tickets and I don't drive for a living. 10 tickets doesn't sound that bad if he's driving 60 hours a week over a 10 year period. That said, if my mom or family were in the car I would probably want him put away for good too.

The beauty of the U.S. justice system at work here. People like OJ Simpson get off the death penalty or time while this man receives almost a lifer. It was an obvious accident and he tried saving them, wtf were the people thinking during his case?

The family contends that he was fatigued from working long hours and was driving without breaks in order to receive bonuses from his company.
.................................................................................................

He gets a bonus for going without breaks ?

Sounds like the trucking company is partially at fault.

Fuck that. Dont blame that shit else where. Truck company can offer this man 20 virgins and 500 billions dollars. The dude is a fucken adult who decided that the bonus was more important than being safe.

Let this bastard rot. No remorse having a-hole. Fucken 4 people burned alive...if that shit happen to my family, I'm choking this bitch out in the court room.

What a stupid quote. OJ was found "not guilty" by a jury of 12. But wait, you think he should get the death penalty because YOU think he is guilty?

I will be the first to tell you that OJ was guilty -- but i didn't serve on that jury. What better process can you think of?

A very few extreme cases hit the media, and everyone thinks the justice system is "unfair." Well, look at the system as a whole...

Our peers, the jury, in that case was filled with morons and retards. They were more fascianted by his stardom then reality. Fucken DNA matched. But I guess the glove is a little more important than DNA.

Competent jury. Make them fucken take a test or something. I rather be judged by people who can actually tell the difference b/w feet and hands than someone who can't, who can read and write, who knows wtf a DNA is and how every DNA is specific to one person...

interesting number of Canadiens commenting in this thread, you just keep being America's hat and shut your pie holes please. Sentence is justifiable imo. Although, 10-15 years would've been more than enough.

So reckless driving, CLEARLY endangering EVERYONE, should receive just a slap on the wrist?

A driver in a gas tanker driving like a prick is just as dangerous, if not more, than a drunk driver in a compact car.

this is a tough one. He did kill 4 people though because of his stupid actions and should be held accountable. 10 prior violations, blatantly speeding. He's the one who caused it. The US system is a joke in regards to the high imprisonment for marijuana and drug crimes. I don't really have a problem with this sentencing though.

This is pathetic. Robbers and killers in my city get less time for more severe crimes. Hope those victims' families feel better about themselves wrecking a working man's family. He did something reprehinsible, but that sentence was too much. Take his licence away, give him jail time but don't give him that many years. Wow.

Too bad you guys can't punish your rapists, drug dealers, robbers or murderers that severely.

If I was a relative, from my point of view...the situation that unfolded would have infuriated me and most likely I would be scarred for a lifetime. 36 years sounds harsh for a guy who YES, drove recklessly with substances you should not be... but his intent was not to do harm. That doesn't let him get off on a sentencing but the sentencing seems too harsh. I would say 30 years is still too harsh. The proper number should be 15-20 at max for this case in my opinion, given the details from the first post.

36 years is ridiculous. Should be less than 5, probably closer to 2-3. That is just stupid and an abuse of power by the judge.

Just throwing in our 2 cents ... or is it 3 with the exchange ?

Agree we are in Americas hat, but when outside the US .. its nice to see peoples reactions when you tell them .."No sorry, I'm Canadian NOT American"

Amazing how their tune changes on a dime when they hear that.
