The first question is whether there is a God or not. Then does God interfere with normal daily life. If there is a God, is he a really good God or is he a bad God. If God does exsit, and he is good, would he give you little proof of his existence and no direct proof, and then when you dont believe because he gave you a mind to think with, cast you off to hell to suffer. If he does interfere with people's lives, why does he save some and not others? Why does he create a world with so much pain and suffering?
You cant prove either way whether there is a God or not. No one can do it no matter what has happened in someone's life (i.e. people seeing the Virgin Mary on a building, people seeing the light, people talking to God or Jesus, or dead Uncle Ed). Shit happens in life. People die, people come close to dying, people survive despite the odds, people don't survive. Thats just the shit that happens everyday.
My opinion is we can sit and stew over this every night but there is no way of knowing. If he does exist, I do not believe he interferes with our lives. Although I may believe he does now because I layed some heavy juice on Boston and they just walked a runner in against a girls team. I guess some people do the smart thing and hedge their bet. If God does not exist there is no harm in believing. If he does, and you believe, there may be rewards for you. I can see that aspect. If God exists and he is a good God, I could not see why God would punish people for having doubts or even not believing.
I think people are weak and need to believe in something. Most people cant handle the possibility of this being the end for all of us. That when you die, thats it. I can handle it. Its depressing yes, but if that's the end, that's the end. You live your life, have fun, and do the best you can do. It would be nice to have a loving God that when life is over, you can be reunited with your family, and dog, and everyone else you love. That would be ideal or if you are Muslim have 89 virgins.
