Devin Hester is already a Hall of Famer in my book.

It will be very difficult for Hester to be the best returner in the game beyond a 4 or 5 year span.

For whatever reason, returners have a few good years and then seem to fall off.

Richard Dent has a 137.5 career sacks and isn't in the Hall of Fame but you want Hester in. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

not sure about the HOF, but the guy is special...

very few can effect the game the way he does for the kicking team......

I'm drawing a blank right now, but the guy for KC a few years ago, was same way...they would rather kick out of bounds, and give it at the 40 then let him return it.....

Ray Guy is generally considered the greatest punter in the history of the NFL and the only way he's getting into the HOF is to buy a ticket...

this is my point. when you are best ever at what you do , the hall is yours .

disagree if you want..

the guy plays a full career and gets into the mid 20's in return td's , i put him in.

if you dont think so , that is fine with me..

Is the greatest long snapped in the Hall? If so, I will agree with your post.

Weird. I thought of Tamarick Vanover or whatever his name was.

Think Eric Metcalf is the career leader with 22 kick off and punt returns (12+10)

If I read this right, Eric Metcalf only had 12 kick return TDs (2 KO, 10 P)...But he clearly excelled across the board

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Metcalf

==========
A multi-talented player, Metcalf excelled at offense and as a returner on special teams. In his second NFL season, he led the league in kickoff return yards (1,052) and return touchdowns (two). He also led the NFL in punt return touchdowns in four different seasons (1993-1995, 1997).

Overall, Metcalf finished his career with 2,392 rushing yards, 541 receptions for 5,572 yards, 3,453 punt return yards, and 5,813 yards returning kickoffs. This gave him a total of 17,230 all-purpose yards, ranking him among the NFL's top 10 in that category at the time of his retirement. He also scored 55 touchdowns (12 rushing, 31 receiving, ten punt returns, two kickoff returns). His 12 returned-kick touchdowns are the second most in NFL history behind Brian Mitchell, of which his ten punt return touchdowns are an NFL record.

He is the only player ever to have 7,000+ yards on offense and 7,000+ yards on kickoff/punt returns.[citation needed]

Metcalf was traded along with two first round and one second round draft picks by the San Diego Chargers to the Arizona Cardinals for moving one spot in the 1998 NFL Draft to pick quarterback Ryan Leaf.

BRIAN MITCHELL's bio

Brian Keith Mitchell (born August 18, 1968 in Fort Polk, Louisiana) is a former American football player who played running back for the Washington Redskins (1990-1999), and later the Philadelphia Eagles (2000-2002) and New York Giants (2003).

Mitchell was well known as a kick returner, and is the NFL's second all time leader in total yardage (23,330), thanks in large part to his 14,014 yards from kickoff returns and his 4,999 punt return yards. Both are NFL records.

He also rushed for 1,967 yards on 388 carries (avg. 5.1 rushing yards), caught 255 passes for 2,336 yards, recovered 20 fumbles for 14 return yards, and scored 29 touchdowns (four kickoff returns, nine punt returns, 12 rushing, and four receiving). His 13 special teams touchdowns are also an NFL record. His nine punt return touchdowns are second behind Eric Metcalf (ten). He is also one of only four players to record four seasons of over 2,000 total yards, (the others being Marshall Faulk, Dante Hall and Tiki Barber) and missed out on a fifth by only five yards.

OK I read NFL records wrong. They list a total on one and then just punts on the other I got kick and KO confused. Thanks for the clarification Bar.

Hester chokes up when talking about return record

In fewer than five full NFL seasons, Devin Hester of the Bears has returned more kicks and/or punts for touchdowns than any other player in the history of the NFL.
ESPN’s Matt Millen declared after the game that Hester could get another 14 in the next five years, which could be a bit of a stretch.
Still, 14 in fewer than five years is an incredible feat, especially since Hester arrived in the second round of the draft in the same year that Reggie Bush, presumed by many to be the next Gale Sayers, arrived in the NFL. Though Hester has a long way to go to match Sayers’ accomplishments on offense, Hester has been everything Sayers ever was when it comes to returns, maybe more.
After the game, Hester got emotional when he spoke of the accomplishment. And unlike the “me” guy who was speaking in the other media room at TCF Bank Stadium, Hester proved that he’s a “we” guy.

Yea Hester should end up in the hall of fame. His ability to change field position and score on any kicks gives the bears a great edge. Bears still suck imo tho

Who da hell would put anything Matt Millen says in their article. Now he'll max out with one or two more.

gonna end up with about 22 and will deserve entry ..

So let me understand your argument. He has returned more kicks than anyone in NFL history so he should be in the HOF? He doesn't play defense, he doesn't kick FG's and sucks on offense but he's a sure-fire HOF inductee? Richard Dent has more than 130 sacks in the NFL, he changed the offensive mind set on each play he was on the field but Devin Hester should be in and he should not?

Again, why isn't Steve Tasker in the HOF? This is just a dumb argument.
