I have read this entire thread and I doubt that anyone has actually read the law in North Carolina. Lets start out with the controversy over Schilling. ESPN and its parent Disney, are extremely pro gay rights so Schilling struck a nerve. ESPN is bleeding money and the last thing anyone wants today is to have a controversy over gay rights. ESPN was within its rights to terminate him over this but should have merely suspended him over the comments. Schilling has free speech rights, but, unfortunately, free speech is only allowed if it is within the agenda of Disney. The real problem here is political correctness. I mentioned Cuba earlier in this thread. All of the same people that are attacking and boycotting the State of North Carolina can't wait to either go to Cuba or if they are performers to play in Cuba.
It is the same double standard that exists with the Palestinian issue. Israel 100% supports gay rights. If the Palestinians even think you are gay, you will be put to death. Not a word from the left on this.
What the LGBT lobby does and which these types of laws seek to prevent, are the filings of lawsuits to further expand LGBT rights beyond any laws that are currently in effect. For example and I mentioned this earlier, do you think a priest/minister/rabbi/imam should be required to perform a same sex marriage if they are opposed to doing it? Your answer should be of course they should not be required to perform such a marriage. However, some people think they should and want to force that agenda on everyone. Even if a lawsuit against the minister were to fail, the next step would be to lobby the IRS to revoke their tax exempt status.
